mystman Posted May 9 Posted May 9 I don't know what's happened with Mina. Near the end of her run with Stardom, she was pretty good and had worked hard to improve. Her matches with Saya were amazing, and she seemed destined to be their biggest star. 1
Shartnado Posted May 9 Posted May 9 This Darby Death Run is amazing! After all this you are going through PAC and Okada in a few days? Just to chop off MJF's toupee?!? I guess I need to pay to see that, just because! 2
S.K.o.S. Posted May 9 Posted May 9 I'm running with a theory that MJF says "no, I'm not putting my precious hair on the line", Darby keeps defending the title on TV and loses it to somebody else before the PPV, and the DoN main event is either the new champion vs. MJF or something completely different. It would make all the sense in the world for MJF to think "why risk losing my hair when I can just wait until Darby loses the title and go after someone else," they haven't actually advertised the match yet because MJF hasn't accepted it, fans already got the payoff of seeing Darby beat MJF once, and most fans probably know that MJF won't actually lose his hair. Obviously, I could be completely wrong, MJF could easily show up next week and say "you know what Darby, I hate the sight of you walking around with that world title so much that I'll do it." 1

Considering the seriously escalating level of Darby's opponents, this is not beyond the realm of possibility, in the least! And have you seen how they have been constantly using RUSH for a bit now? Maybe, just maybe... Edited May 9 by Shartnado RUSH?!? 2
hammerva Posted May 10 Posted May 10 The layout for the Fairway to Hell show is incredible visual. Even the entrance with the "greens" looks cool. Not something I would do a lot but needs to be a yearly thing

It's possible, but there's not a lot of TV left between now and the PPV. And they've clearly been building towards Darby vs MJF.
Curt McGirt Posted May 10 Posted May 10 (edited) That match was fucking stupid. I'll say it. Stupid. PAC should have died or been knocked unconscious, then Darby should have died or been knocked unconscious, and THEN they went for the table spot. Whoever showed these knuckleheads that there was a balcony in the venue needs to be spanked. Missed the rest, so I'll get back to you EDIT: Well, I guess AEW doesn't show up on my On Demand, and the event didn't record for whatever reason (it was probably titled Fairway to Hell in the guide) so I won't get back to you. Peck Posted May 10 Posted May 10 Didn't even rake the bunkers when they were done using them. How unprofessional. 1 2
HarryArchieGus Posted May 10 Posted May 10 Wow, neat looking presentation (if ssslightly awkward). It looked like a classic Stadium show. They finally figured out the (Battle of the Belts) one hour special. Mark Davis-Jungle Jack was solid. Davis shouldn't need assistance to beat Perry, but I'll take a belted Davis. And it sets up Stadium Stampede. So, the Hurt Syndicate r just going to step aside for the Elite? I'd prefer Benjamin/Lashley joined Ricochet now. I love seeing Nick Wayne get a video package for his BOSJ bid (and the news about his ROH dark match). Renee was excellent on this show. Stoked for Ace-'spreay on Wednesday. Always great Don Callis promo with Ricochet and Davis - Davis might wanna reel in the ridiculous mean-mugging to something that looks more menacing and less hilarious. Digging the new Divine Dominion 5 minute challenge stip. Bayne/Kross are murdering it right now. Thekla 4 way - ugh!?! Just build one solid opponent for fuck sake. Thekla's fun, but the absence of Toni Storm continues to loom large at the top of the card. Not into the bait/switch of Okada-Darby to Takeshita-Darby, but also didn't want to see Okada treated as an afterthought to Darby-MJF, so I'll take it. I suspect Okada costs Takeshita on Wednesday. Nice KOR video. The videos and aim are getting better. This show had really solid formatting/flow. Darby-Pac was tremendous fun. I can totally buy Darby getting up from the table spot - he's been built to this. Pac was awesome as per usual. I am very much loving not only Darby in the top spot, but the World Champion working matches weekly! AEWsome show.
Technico Support Posted May 10 Posted May 10 At first I thought someone was calling the match too loudly during Perry/Davis. Then I realized the director’s cues were going over the air. AEW and audio snafus…name a more iconic duo. 1 2
HarryArchieGus Posted May 10 Posted May 10 I was really enjoying that little glimpse into the production. 2 1
