So, uhh, funny thing about that

A side take that may be off-base, but who knows, someone may need it someday:

Gender experimentation in a societal environment can be healthy, so long as trust is not violated.

Anyway. Back to wrestling.

Uh... I didn't watch the show(s). Was there a moonsault?

That's all ex-WWE guys. Now if it's not Hurt Syndicate but other ex-WWE guys along with New Day that would be really, really funny.

Was there a moonsault? I guess in the Collision finish there had to be?

This tweeting bullshit is one of about 10 distractions in every goddamn AEWTV match. It's a challenge to avert my eyes from that garbage, but I do. I mute the TV every time they carelessly rundown matches during a match as well. This production doesn't give enough consideration to the focus/attention of the viewer. It's easily my least favorite thing about AEW. Having proper match rundowns and live announcements between the matches would greatly improve the experience of watching this show.

Dynamite
Good attempt on the Ted Turner tribute, but I found a lot of it very awkward and raced to the ffwd button. Mox-Juice was okay. Juice's offense looked far too flimsy at times. The Ospreay/Death Riders skit could have used an edit, but I was amused. Clumsy formatting it after Mox's match. Dax-OC was very good. I hate the (AEW original) non-lumberjack lumberjack matches. The babyfaces acting like they couldn't do anything about the heel attacks made no fucking sense. Nonetheless, I liked the actual match and the post stuff. Very nice (if still very busy) Rush and Andrade videos. They should do more and more of these brief personality profiles. Jericho opens his segment suggest the 'talking is done' and then calls out Rico for a 'talk'. Still, I sorta like the chemistry between Jericho-Demand. Stadium Stampede is a good choice for them. The Harley/Mina promo was ridiculous, but Wild Harley is what's always needed. Okada-Bryan Keith was a nice showcase match. Good showing from Keith. Unfortunate rattail tho. Amusing Opps promo. What are you even offering Joe!?! I might need to have another look at Harley/Mina-Stat/Shida. The few clips I saw of Harley looked really good. Made me wonder if she's made another huge leap in her in ring development. The finish seemed a bit lackluster. Swerve's promo on gaining power makes no sense as a build to Bandido. Further, Swerve's want for power, but lack of desire for the ROH title kinda devalues the belt. I'll turn my brain off now, and just enjoy said match. Darby-Kevin Knight was excellent. I continue to love seeing Darby with the Main Event spotlight for his consistently great matches. The MJF-Darby post match talkie was good. I'm stoked for Okada-Darby, but not so into how we're getting there. It feels like an afterthought to the PPV match with Friedman. That there's clearly no way Okada wins next week feels like a weak booking choice. Okada should always be as big of a threat as there is.

Colliison
Watched this hours later. More hilarity from Ospreay and silly Doc Sampson. Bailey-AR Fox was a lot of fun. Great gnarly finish - both Fox's miss onto the back of his head and the Ultimate Weapon. I love Willow Nightingale, but I found her Turner tribute promo a bit cringey. I also don't love this Comeback killer gimmick - it's feeling too heelish for beloved Willow. Nonetheless, I love seeing her getting more promo time and winning her matches. Pretty fantastic Pac promo on Darby. Looking forward to that match. Hayter-Skye Blue was pretty good despite the weird 2 count non-kick out. Aubrey foolishly called a leg on the rope, and Skye forgot to kick out. That was ugly. Awkward post match - completely missing Hayter's continued attack on Skye. The Don Callis Family promo was one of the highlights of the show. Rush is a squash artist, but can't we see him beat somebody of note? I hope they aren't building him to another absence. Let him brutally murder Jack Perry, please! I don't quite see how these Jack Perry videos are benefitting him as a babyface? Dogs/Death Riders-Bucks/Bang Bang was standard fun. I like seeing Ace Austin get a win after last week's pair of strong showings. The Gunns looked like they're play-wrestling at times - not good. Maybe it's a little ring rust. Classic Collision whimpering out the '3 hour Special', but I had fun.

Well... Brynn is suddenly having mental health issues and has decided to shut down their Twitter, etc. accounts, blog, and that Discord. I can post the goodbye post if you like.

Heh.

I say this with all due respect to someone who seems like a fine person, but is Mina Shirakawa the worst dancing wrestler to have a dancing gimmick/into since, what, Fandango?!

Mina is either somewhat unathletic, or is an alien or mutant with a higher density than humans.  She wrestles like she's secretly 300 pounds.  Almost everything that requires some agility comes out clunky and looking like it's taking just the absolute maximum amount of effort.  When she does a top rope crossbody or that slingshot spinning splash, she gets no height and then plummets to the earth so hard.  She does this rope-assisted escalera that is so slow and careful, it's like she's reading a diagram of where to put her feet.  I think science needs to look into what the deal is here.

This still isn't as weird as the guy who faked his death so he could blog about HK action movies instead of wrestling, then came back and shilled his blog because no one was reading it.

Yeah that Discord is nuked, nothing in sight.

Dammit. Now we gotta go looking for another one-legged lesbian who loves wrestling. That sounds like a... what's the term for something rare like that?

Such a person probably actually exists, but is rare enough that "snipe hunt" is appropriate.

A nonfiction account of the search, "DVDVR's Folly," to be published in 2031.

Just when you thought that guys had run out of interesting and creative ways to kill Darby, Kevin fucking Knight hits an inside out flying hangman's clothesline on Darby while he's sitting on the announce table and barely conscious. Holy shit, my dude.

Poor Okada and PAC and whomever else is jumping in line for a crack at the belt.

It's like being the next act after that middle school rock band that shredded Crazy Train at their school talent show. How do you follow that shit?

Tomaso Ciampa has set a high bar of wanton violence and disregard for human health that will end up getting Darby killed and I will be there for it every week.

I've been here long enough to vaguely remember the DVDVR saga of nerdyflirtygirl and her mom.

Unless it's Stefanie or JL, just assume every woman here is a hoax 😄

Or Burgundy when she was still here. I know when I am being cursed out by an actual woman when I see it.

Most of the time I deserved it. Most of the time.

I know I'm mainly a lurker these days, but rude.

Maybe there's some Shallow Hal magic going on here? She's really 300lbs, but also such a lovely person that the whole viewing audience sees her as this adorable tiny buxom person we see on TV? Or, some people just aren't as athletic as their stature would indicate, who the fuck knows?

Mina was born 20 years too late to work in the US. She would've slayed in diva/wrestler transition days (2007-14), especially the first generation of TNA Knockouts. She can't hang in the actual workrate women's wrestling times, though, and unfortunately the language barrier puts a cap on how far her natural charisma can take her, unlike Harley. I always thought Shida was a bit generic, but you can see how much better she fits into what AEW is trying to do when she's side by side with Mina.

The Death Riders/Ospreay training reminds me of the Vampiro/Pentagon stuff from LU. I don't know why it's so hard for wrestling promotions to make hard-ass training not look like BDSM. Watch Kill Bill 2 for god's sake.

Kinda disappointed to see Swerve going after Bandido (even though the match will no doubt be great) to make way for an MJF re-match with Darby.

If they wanted to make a hard-ass training vid, just have him do endless Hindu squats where they crack him in the stomach with a kendo stick in between squats.

Or, and this is my guess, she's just a terrible wrestler.

Before Mina Shirakawa wrestled, she was a model. She lacks in athletic ability, but punches way above her weight in physical charisma. Some people can go far without athletic ability. See CM Punk, for example.

This is where you put her in a tag team where she can wait for the hot tag, work the crowd.  Or, we can take the heat and just bump bump bump and play to the crowd to get fired up.

But since the traditional "face in peril" tag match with an extended heat segment isn't used anymore....
