Dolfan in NYC Posted May 4 Posted May 4 Some days, things just take way too much of my energy, I look up and the whole room's spinning. You take my cares away, I can so over-complicate, people tell me to medicate... We started the week with a concert! Feel my blood runnin', swear the sky's fallin', I know that all this shit's fabricated, mm. Time goes by and I can't control my mind. Don't know what else to try, but you tell me every time... Also, the women's tag champs successfully defended their titles... but are they more than they seem? Our investigative reporter looks into it! Just keep breathin' and breathin', and breathin', and breathin'... And, oh, I gotta keep, keep on breathin'! On tap for this week! Backlash Tampa! But before that... Raw! Two matches and a side of squash. Everything a growing boy or girl needs! (Sometimes Mother's Day can be great... sometimes it can be a chore... sometimes it can be awful. Just keep breathing...) Enjoy the week!
odessasteps Posted May 4 Posted May 4 An accent isn’t all they gave the new Brie, but I presume Danhausen couldn’t discuss the elephants in the room.
Eivion Posted May 5 Posted May 5 Enjoyed the murder of Seth via Bron as the opening. Finn/JD was solid with Roxanne's alignment being shown when she attacked Finn. Penta/Je'Von vs. Page/Rusev was solid. Guessing Page getting the pin finally set up the title match with Penta. Sol's signing mostly went well with Becky's interruption and Sol looking cool dodging that punch after giving Becky a taste of her own medicine trash talking wise. Hendry/Theory was decent while it lasted. The fuck finish with Logan attacking made sense to pull given how heated Paul was all night. I thought it worked well with the hot crowd, the Profits, Bron, and Seth all getting involved. Oba's open challenge was actually fun with Tozawa as a fake out and the quick big man match up with Otis. Original EGA/Los Hermanos Americanos vs. EGA/Los Americanos was weird but fun with the lack of proper face/heel dynamics. I am curious how it would have gone if they just wen with Original and company being heels since it felt like the crowd was game for that idea prior. The final faceoff between between Io & Asuka was alright although it feels like both have done just a bit better with these types of vids in the past. The final Roman/Jacob segment led to a nice short brawl. Roman/Jacob feels like it could be good if they bring that type of heat to their Backlash match. Nothing super standout match wise though everything was enjoyable and the final builds for Backlash were solid. The crowd being hot for most of the show elevated everything a bit as well. Solid show. 1
odessasteps Posted May 5 Posted May 5 (edited) I want to know just what was Liv standing on to make her tower over Roxxane.or was she wearing KISS style platform boots? Edited May 5 by odessasteps
hammerva Posted May 5 Posted May 5 (edited) I mean Roxanne Perez is 5 foot 1. I know that Liv is short but it isn't like she is a mini herself. Compared to Raquel Rodriquez every looks like one of Danhausen's friends at WM Edited May 5 by hammerva
The Comedian Posted May 5 Posted May 5 Loved Oba's crowd interactions, especially the "smart thinking" head point, before the power bomb. That dude gets the little things. 3
Dolfan in NYC Posted May 5 Author Posted May 5 Oba proved how smart he was with that, he proved how strong he was with this Otis flew like a goddamned cruiserweight. If Tozawa gets thrown like that, he may shatter. 3

Hell, he threw Je'Von through the announce table from the ring with a running press toss. He ever did that shit to any big men like Briggs and whatnot. I assumed maybe he couldn't. Now I see he just saved that shit for when he hit the main roster.
caley Posted May 5 Posted May 5 I'm trying to remember who it was who was complaining about how painful that move is to take. He said something to the effect of: "Everyone should have to take their own move once so they can see what it feels like, of course there's not really anyone who could do it to Oba" and how when he complained to him Femi was like "Oh it's not THAT bad!" 1

Its not so much that there was no one who could do it to Oba in NXT. They just interacted so little. Like DarkState & OTM could all do that to Oba with ease save Shugars. Thinking about this now I'm wondering if this is why Tony D stopped using the Ron Simmons spinebuster this year since I know its supposed to be a similar level of hell to take.

It was Myles Borne! https://wrestletalk.com/news/myles-borne-oba-femi-pizza-toss-wwe-move-hates-taking/ " Quote Oba’s pizza toss. I’ll take pretty much anything, there’s nothing on the table that I’m not… I might be a little (grimaces), but we’re gonna do it. Once the cameras are live, I’m game. “But when he picked me up for that pizza toss, I’ve got no choice, I’m in the air, there’s nothing I can do. And he just lets you go. That bump right there, it’ll knock the breath out of you. “I took it once and I remember I hit and I just immediately lost my breath, and I just rolled out. It was a live show, I don’t even know where we were, we were on a tour, and I just rolled out and I said, ‘I’m done, that’s it.’ Quote “It’s funny, I always tell the guys who do big moves like that, once I took them, I’d be like, ‘That sucks,’ and they would always be like, ‘Ah, it’s not that bad, you’re fine.’ And I would just say, ‘Well have you ever taken it?’ Of course, who’s gonna throw Oba? No-one’s throwing Oba. “But I had a rule in my head, I think the rule should be, if you have a move, you have to take it one time.” 1
HumanChessgame Posted May 6 Posted May 6 He has a pretty normal name for an NXT wrestler. Dean would have loved this guy. 3
Peck Posted May 6 Posted May 6 The look on Booker's face when the tech guy randomly changed his headset out on camera was one of the most unintentionally funny things I've seen in awhile. 1

Eivion Posted May 6 Posted May 6 Jaida/Kali was solid. Thought Jaida looked the better of the two though Kali probably needed the victory more. Still, I'm curious why Jaida is still in NXT at this point if she isn't a champ. Feels like she probably should have moved up though I admit I don't think she would get a strong push anywhere on the main roster at the moment. The encounter with Nattie later in the show slightly annoyed me just because it seems like Nattie's character change is already being wasted exactly on what she was supposed to be moving on from. Jaspar/Drake was pretty solid. Weirdly enough it probably it probably could have used a little more Jaspar on offense with how on point he was. Myka seems to officially be with Vanity project after getting the big slam on Jaspar towards the end to help Drake win. The WNA segment with Zaria & co. did little for me, but I've never dug trying to have so many talk over each other. Was at least nice to see Lyons in the mix and Zaria come out on top. Lola/Iguana vs. Izzi/Niko was fun though the finish fell a bit flat with Izzi busting out a new finisher that doesn't quite feel right for her. Hank & Tank vs. Osiris/Cutler was a nice battle of big boys. Its good to see Cutler so improved after how bad he looked this time last year. Hopefully this is the end of the DarkState drama since its just not that interesting with neither Shugars or Dion really pulling towards facehood. The interview with Keanu and new interviewer was a decent look into Carver and his mindset. Its obvious his current character is to somewhat cover for his weak ability as a talker right now. Hopefully he grows as a talker. Tony/Tavion was another solid match, probably one of Tavion's better performances though he still doesn't quite feel ready for a match at this level as a singles. The arrival of Mason Rook was neat. It is nice to see a proper fat due who can move around again. Looking forward to seeing whenever he and Tony face off. No great standout matches though everything was solid and enjoyable. Thought the show mostly did a decent job setting up fresh challengers and looking more into the new arrivals for the current era of NXT. Solid show. 3

Shartnado Posted May 8 Posted May 8 NXT has been chaotic af for the past couple of weeks in the best way possible. Lizzy Rain is the idea of 70's/80's heavy metal by someone who has no idea of 70's, 80's or heavy metal but that finisher kick was wild. Kendal Grey will choose avenging her friend before a title shot like it was an abandoned cake in the fridge, believe me! Izzy Dame vs Lola Vice and Zaria vs Tatum Paxley should be just about as awesome as anything! D'Angelo keeps being an absolute bad-ass, but I have a feeling it will bite him in the ass in the end. 2
Eivion Posted May 9 Posted May 9 The Jacob promo with the Usos was solid. Tiffany/Kiana was solid up until Stratton decided to say fuck selling her leg for some reason. With all the impressive shit she is capable of it just felt lazy to see her go into her flippy moves after all the limb work Kiana put in. Talla/Priest was surprisingly decent and actually had some decent momentum building towards the end until the the bits with Truth coming out came into play. Dug what I caught of the Cody/Gunther segments. I like the favor from Heyman being the shot at Cody's title despite Gunther being a Raw guy. Cardona/Saints was decent. Rhea/Charlotte/Alexa vs. Fatal Influence was solid. The pre match segment with FI and Brie/Paige was nothing super interesting. The post match with Jade & co.'s return didn't really hit well when you have an actual good faction in Fatal Influence right there. Feels like this return maybe could have waited until after Rhea/Jacy for the title though I think whatever matches roll out for Clash in Italy will do well with a non-US audience anyways. Tama/Royce ended up way better than expected. The two gelled decently and kept at a decent pace. Nothing fancy here but pretty solid overall. Sami had a decent crashout speech at the funeral of the Gingerbread and it was a ll a decent enough setup for some vengeance by Trick & Yachty. Still, its disappointing to see Sami a bit of a goofball heel again. He isn't a total joke as he was before, but it still feels like several steps back after his climb during and post Bloodline. They should have given him a world title even if just for a short moment. Not an especially good episode the segments and stories being a bit lackluster compared to the past couple of weeks. The wrestling has been better as well though nothing was bad here. Tama/Royce was the standout though I enjoyed the women's tag with Fatal Influence. Still probably a skippable episode overall. 1
hammerva Posted May 9 Posted May 9 While I hate the idea of AI increasingly being used in WWE, the Ginger Bread Man memorial is perfect use ot it. For dumb shit. Also find it funny that one of his great memories is marking out on a view stream of Punk returning to the WWE especially when they have they made it clear he wants to take those particular people out of business for real.
