Thinking of Rebel. Thoughts go out to her.

Lovely of AEW to do this but I thought her ALS condition was terminal so why is Tony saying that she hopes she pulls through.

Was it just the wrong words to say by Tony or just trying to be positive about it or have I read the original post about her wrong and she can in fact get better and live a long life?

Tony trying to be positive. ALS, MND as it's known where I'm from has no cure. It's a terrible terminal disease. Always dreaded that, cancer and dementia.

Any of these could main event a PPV.

Slightly out of the loop regarding this one - I know Big E is done in-ring. Did he leave also, or are they still keeping him on in some capacity? Do we still consider them a proper New Day with just two of the three members?

Apologies for taking your paragraph and just singling out two sentences, I know that's a bit rude. But for these two points I don't know if I necessarily agree. New Day is a great act, I think they are popular enough and would get a big pop if they showed up in AEW. But the rumor was they were on 'seven figure deals' in WWE (hence the request to take a pay cut) which is a lot of money to pay a team that is in the twilight of their careers and to your second point, I don't think Xavier and Kofi are necessarily great in-ring wrestlers. They are 39 and 44 respectively and Xavier was never really a high-end wrestler (very good but never a work rate machine). Kofi was/maybe still can step up when he needs to but the last few New Day matches I watched both just didn't seem to have the same step they used to have. Which is understandable but I don't know if they can step up their work rate at this point in their careers but so much.

Its not that I don't think they'd be a good fit in AEW but I think it would have more limited appeal than some may be thinking, I think their best bet would be to go back to the New Day of old and focus on their personalities/promo work which is top notch, and have a few dream matches with Young Bucks, Omega, etc. but not necessarily be in the title picture or wrestling weekly on Dynamite. I think they'd have value for sure and could get some eyeballs on AEW which is the goal, but just that expectations should be realistic in regards to where their value is, which to me would be in their popularity, reach, and dream match potential more so than their in-ring ability or having long title feuds.

Honestly, both guys have kept up physically and continued to add to their games over the years. They are in that rare & weird category of continuing to improve even this late in. You aren't seeing great matches out of them more because WWE wasn't looking for that from them. They absolutely can step up or at least Kofi can. Not as sure about Woods given the injuries he has had the past few years.

While I do think they would do alright I actually still agree that their biggest appeal is their personalities and dream match potential. I think that is true of most acts going on 40 or older with 20+ years on them.

I caught the beginning of the heel run, and was thoroughly impressed. I kinda think it's Woods who has the potential to really step up. He's so solid in the ring, and I see a lot more potential for his mic work than what time and creative permitted him in WWE. I kinda suspect, at 39, Xavier Woods could be readying the best run of his career. I do get the argument or concern about their workrate as it relates to AEW, but I'm totally with that bolded statement above. Even if it ultimately doesn't work out, very excited to see them in AEW.

Wait, why would that be rude? I learned decades ago that trimming your attributions was proper netiquette. And I've stuck with that, because the logic behind it still seems sound. No reason to make people read or even scroll through a full post when only part of it is relevant to your reply.

I still think New Day are young enough and creative enough to get over in AEW and sell a lot of merchandise and that should be enough for TK to want to sign them.

Oh ok fair enough. I aint angry at Tony for saying it like he did. Just a shame she will only have a few years left. Hopefully she can make the most of the time she has and have a good life full of good moments.

Big E does pre-show and post-show work at PPVs. He's still there.

i second this, and was going to ask the same thing. NOW, if your trimming changes the intent/meaning of the post, that's another story. But cutting out the parts that are irrelevant to your post or rebuttal is the way to go.

I say that as sometimes when someone posts a longer message and just two non-connected sentences are taken out to respond to, it could appear like taking a comment out of context/ignoring the broader point. Which wasn't my intent of course, as you mentioned my goal was just to make it easier to see which part I was responding to, not playing 'gotcha' or something.

I see New Day and MCMG #AllElite bound.

I hope they do bring MCMG in. I had no expectations that WWE would do anything meaningful with them. Alot of WWE loyalists were happy when they chose WWE over AEW. That was sorta the end of the Honeymoon phase for everyone thinking Hunter was such a great Booker. They just moved Smackdown back to USA and it looked like they were trying to do something with the tag division when they debuted. Im glad they did get on the WWE payroll for a while but I would have preferred them in AEW instead of wasting a year in WWE.

AEW at times have a much stronger tag team division even at there best i feel like AEW could do more to come across as a Tag team company. 2 of their company's EVPs are a tag team so my expectations for their tag team division has always been at the highest level that they don't often. When they announced AEW I envisioned this Tag team revolution that WWE claimed they had with their Women's division

To piggyback on @Ziggy’s post, I wonder if the paymasters at TKO, due to their MMA background, don’t really understand the draw of, or care about, tag teams.  Like the old Vince idea that “why the fuck am I paying four guys for a match when I can just be paying two?”   Maybe they feel like tags between singles stars are cool for setting up/prolonging programs, but dedicated teams are a waste.

I like to think the fact that their employees are in bed with a regime that is literally trying to strip black people of their rights played at least some part in Kofi and Woods' decision to leave.

One would hope so, but they've been in bed with this regime since 2016 (the reason I stopped watching them).

Unless Triple H is apart of a concerted effort to devalue them then no. Its probably more of a case that they expected them to accept the pay cuts which is depending on the person is offensive in itself. I don't think Vince McMahon would have had these guys near the top of the card if he was still around but he definitely would have payed them what they thought they deserved to keep them around kinda like RTruth. As much as we hear he likes R Truth being a part of Cena's farewell was his peak but I don't think he would have considered letting him go. TKO has done the same with Lifers in UFC and I don't keep up with UFC but alot of these cuts are more of a TKO thing than anything else. There's going to be more people that decide not to take pay cuts that are of the New Days name value. I just hope that some of those people have enough success outside of WWE to where the WWE kept them on the same terms. Kind of like AJ Styles leaving TNA. There are still people left over thats still marks for WWE that will take pay cuts but it's probably less and less sense of security for even Semi main event guys. Guys like Malaki Black allegedly was difficult to do deal with and even Andrade in his last AEW run because they thought with Triple H in charge they had big runs waiting for them. I think at this point unless your still young and impressionable, that delusion is done now.

I think Triple H is a horrible Booker so I'm not not making excuses for him but all of the structural changes with the flow of the shows and the advertisements and the forcing the use of celebrities it would be hard for anyone to book a consistently watchable show.  Guys like Roman Reigns have enough freedom to make sure the stuff they are involved in are atleast interesting

Where exactly can Woods and Kofi go to wrestle for big money that doesn't have ties to this presidential regime?

Y'all need to realize that there's pretty much no major company within any field that black folks can go work in (at least in the United States) and the owners aren't feeding money to this regime and regimes like it that are trying to erode the civil rights of black people.

Silly question: Does Kofi still have rights to "Kofi Kingston" since he was essentially using it ("Kofi Nahaje Kingston") in the indies before he went to WWE, or did he sell it off to them?

Pretty sure it's been said before, and since, that Andrade only went back to WWE so he could be with Charlotte and work on their marriage. Once that fizzled out it was kind of over for him in WWE. Now, what you said definitely applies to people like Black, Rusev, etc.

FWIW, Sapp said he would still be able to use Kofi since that's his birth name but "likely" would not be able to use Kingston.
