To date, only 71 players have declared for the 2026 NBA Draft. (Last year there were 116.) Hey, they're the ones that wanted to force teenagers to wait an extra year. Reap what you sow. 1
Tabe Posted April 29 Posted April 29 And this is really only a temporary issue. The end result will be positive for the NBA as players come into the league more experienced and polished.
Dolfan in NYC Posted May 1 Posted May 1 From the sounds of Jokic's presser last night, he may soon look like the picture on the right again soon.

Dolfan in NYC Posted May 4 Posted May 4 The Chicago Sky have waived Hailey Van Lith. She was the 11th pick in the 2025 draft.
RIPPA Posted May 5 Author Posted May 5 Tina Charles - the WNBA's all time leader in rebounds and field goals - announced her retirement She also ends her career second in points (behind only Diana Taurasi) 1

Apparently HC Jason Kidd wanted the bump up to Team President but "knew for months" that wasn't going to happen. And that the power structure has been made clear Ujiri is the boss. ...so when Kidd gets fired or quits, try to look surprised. 1

I feel like I've been doing this a lot lately, but I think there is a movie or a TV show about a Jason Kidd type coach who we all kind of know is shady, but is respected enough to always have a job.

The thing I keep finding fascinating about him is that at every new job, the first year the team's defense takes this massive leap forward. Okay, cool, he's a defensive guru, makes sense. Then comes year two and it always regresses significantly and I can't figure out why. 1

It's the only league where you might play against your significant other with your ex as a teammate. The league became popular because Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese are exact opposites in every way and can't stand each other. The personalities make the game interesting. I honestly feel like the WNBA would explode if they actually leaned into the personalities and interpersonal dynamics unique to the league. It's like a reality show where they don't have to manufacture the drama. I mean, it worked great for Heated Rivalry. (sorry for the month-old quote, I just searched "wnba" because I was at the Tempo game last night)
Cobra Commander Posted May 10 Posted May 10 Steve Kerr and the Warriors are sticking together, for 2 years
hammerva Posted May 10 Posted May 10 Wizards actually won a draft lottery with top 3 odds. Another sign of the end of days

Contentious C Posted May 10 Posted May 10 I think that makes the draft order pretty obvious. Wizards taking anyone besides Dybantsa would be pretty stupid. He's what they need and fits right along Sarr and Davis. Peterson should go to Utah unless they trade the pick, which I could see happening. Boozer to Memphis makes plenty of sense, and probably Wilson lands at Chicago.
Brian Fowler Posted May 10 Posted May 10 If Young and Davis are relatively healthy next year, that Washington team is interesting. Probably still not good, but interesting. And I'm not sure when the last time the Zards were interesting was. Before Wall got hurt at least.

They have the guys to play excellent defense behind Young, and his passing should hopefully help some of the young guys develop quicker at least. Long and athletic team. Dybsanta has top guy potential and should fit perfectly on paper. Are they actually doing smart things in DC?

When they were introducing the roster at the start, some of them looked a little surprised by the response they were getting. Would have been nice if there was a bit more to be loud about, but there were a few big moments and they were right there at the end of the game and that's probably all you can expect at this stage. With Mabrey missing the preseason games I guess they'll need a bit of time to figure things out. 2

With the crazy free agency, the expansion draft was weaker than ours but Tempo definitely were willing to take some swings to get FAs. Still very cool to see the hype and embracing of the new teams by Portland and Toronto. 1
Zimbra Posted May 12 Posted May 12 No details available yet, but the Grizzlies' Brandon Clarke has passed away at 29.
