Dolfan in NYC Posted April 7 Posted April 7 When he calls to me, I am ready. I'll wash his feet with my hair if he needs... Forgive him when his tongue lies through his brain, even after three times, he betrays me... Last week.... It looked like Will Ospreay has bitten off a bit more than he can chew: (Honestly, I don't know why Claudio hasn't just beaten Mox to death at this point. He was inches (or centimeters!) away from dealing with this problem and Moxley stops him? Gonna be a shame when Mox loses on Sunday.) Ah, ah! I'll bring him down, bring him down, down... Ah, ah! A king with no crown, king with no crown... It's fun that MJF remembered he's a cheap heat heel. If he wasn't a coward he'd come out with that red hat. I'm just a holy fool, oh, baby, it's so cruel. But I'm still in love with Judas, baby! I'm just a holy fool, oh, baby, it's so cruel. But I'm still in love with Judas, baby! On tap this week! The road to Dynasty concludes! Actually, it'd be a great bit if Jericho kept coming out and saying one line to address the previous week and leaving. (God damn it, I need someone to come out to this after Jericho comes out to his terrible, terrible song.) Enjoy the week! 2 1
JLSigman Posted April 8 Posted April 8 Brody is out this evening. A close friend of his died in the last week and the funeral is today. So.... 3
Technico Support Posted April 8 Posted April 8 (edited) I'm just really happy they kept Davis active after Doyle's injury, and are slotting him in wherever they need him. Far better than icing a talented worker because his partner is hurt. Funny enough, Davis getting hurt and Tony deciding to keep Fletcher active is how we got Fletcher as a singles star. Fuck it, put the TNT title on Davis. Edited April 8 by Technico Support 7 1

Cobra Commander Posted April 9 Posted April 9 Things I Remember From This Week's Edition of AEW Dynamite: Everybody fighting in the parking lot to start the show Darby being yeeted at ringside A woman applauding as Okada and Takeshita fight Chris Jericho is back and he will be feuding with Ricochet for the next 4 months Kyle Fletcher is dead ala 1988 Harley Race and there'll be a match for his title at the PPV Darby aspiring to do things in a promo presumably recorded before he got yeeted Chanadian Chaos main event! Kenny Omega/MJF talk segment and an overrun that almost causes the show to overlap TNA 2
The Natural Posted April 9 Posted April 9 Remember when I asked for Samoa Joe vs. Minoru Suzuki on AEW and I got it? Thank you, Tony Khan. Thought of @JLSigman straight away when the Casino Gauntlet Match was made for the vacant TNT Championship. 1
The Natural Posted April 9 Posted April 9 People were saying and I agree it was a mistake taking the TNT Championship off Tommaso Ciampa when he just won it from Kyle Fletcher and look where we are now. Hindsight and all that. Mark Briscoe who beat Fletcher for it before losing it to Ciampa should have held it longer as well.
HarryArchieGus Posted April 9 Posted April 9 (edited) I don't quite understand the decision to have Kenny go long on the mic week after week. I love Omega, but it's not his strength. This was clumsy to say the least. If the point was for Friedman to outshine him - mission accomplished. I didn't get to see the whole show, but I dug most of what I caught. I found myself amused by Jericho busting out 'an old favorite'. I didn't actually see it first time around. I also kinda respect him taking on some harsh criticism that is sure to be shared by many. I'm not so sure he can continue to babyface south of the border. Fiery, mostly okay promo despite the really lame shout out. It set the table for one of Ricochet's strongest promos. Reps are helping him greatly. I sensed ppl wanting to laugh when he mentioned the 'National Title'. I also enjoyed Willow-Aminata. Mostly solid. Queen needs to stop with the butt stuff. The opponent blatantly slapping her ass while flailing looks kinda awful. Nonetheless, some hard hitting action. Speaking of which, I enjoyed the UE-Death Riders main. Henare had a nice moment. I'm largely unfamiliar with the new IWGP Champion Callum Newman. The little I have seen looked promising. I loved Moxley tearing up Akira. Some fun spots. Claudio was killing it everywhere. Garcia showed some fun charisma. More of that. Pac rules. They're going so strong on Ospreay's neck, and it doesn't feel particularly realistic. Too much overkill all over the place. My highlight of the show was that incredible Callis Family promo. Don just murdered it. So funny too. The strong Callis Family win in the 6 man was also excellent. The post match angle was a mixed bag. The booking feels hyper busy. Keep TK away from fucking Vince Russo. The videos for MJF and Omega were busy with cuts, but expected and kinda good. Stoke hitting the spear was pretty great too. RPG! What I caught of Dorada-Ciampa was fun as expected. Looking forward to seeing this one in full (minus some talking). tbarrie Posted April 9 Posted April 9 Nothing against Tommaso Ciampa, but I really would have preferred to see Mascara Dorado pick up the win. The CMLL guys in general job too often in AEW. 6 1

Jamal Posted April 9 Posted April 9 Always good to see Queen Aminata on my screen. Glad to see her return and back in the mix 3

Zimbra Posted April 9 Posted April 9 They should drop the spooky stuff with Thekla and stick to her just being crazy and saying weird shit all the time. She's going to break Hayter's fingers on stage at a strip club? Aminata/Willow was great, I could have watched them go for an hour. 2 1
Steventon Posted April 9 Posted April 9 first impression of the youngest IWGP champ ever was pretty...unimpressive. least interesting guy in the 8-man that certainly was one way to kick off the build to Okada vs Takeshita at the DoN i enjoyed this week but there were certainly some odd decisions
SovietShooter Posted April 9 Posted April 9 (edited) The girl at ringside smitten with Andrade this week was Mel Coleman, the artist who does all of Don Callis' fun custom paintings. https://bsky.app/profile/melcolemanart.bsky.social/post/3mizu3o7nic2b Edited April 9 by SovietShooter 5 1
Technico Support Posted April 9 Posted April 9 LOL @ that table refusing to break twice. I swear I saw a guy at ringside yelling I AM THE TABLE after the second one. 2 1
Shartnado Posted April 9 Posted April 9 I'm pretty sure I would pay half decent money not to see Christian Cage attempting to bang Stokley's mom! However, to see the looks on FTR's faces when one of their moms lets it slip on the dinner table that "That Christian Cage isn't half bad in the sack" and the other one nods in agreement would be priceless! 1

Casey Posted April 9 Posted April 9 Sometimes it works out just fine, but more often than not Willow’s pounce looks like ass because the person taking it is just standing there waiting for it for a few seconds and I can’t help but always notice it for some reason. That’s my nitpick for the day. 3 1
AxB Posted April 9 Posted April 9 The reasons the Pounce has never looked as good as when Monty Brown did it are: 1) It's Monty Fucking Brown, and 2) It's kind of dependent on the hexagonal ring. 4
SovietShooter Posted April 9 Posted April 9 I think the Pounce is best used as a cutoff move. But since no one works a traditional heat anymore... 3

(It's on the screen behind you omg) My favourite recurring trope in this feud is Kenny Omega saying "The god of pro wrestling, this is not something I called myself..." but in the preceding video package they clearly show Kenny from a few years back going "I am the god of pro wrestling." Also, Kenny's line about how he can't "Tell a story in the ring using just physical action" ventured very deep into "I am a better actor in this fake sport than you, Kenneth!" territory. 8 hours ago, Zimbra said: They should drop the spooky stuff with Thekla and stick to her just being crazy and saying weird shit all the time. "You know what I'm gonna do, take you out for a nice seafood dinner!" I definitely thought Thekla was veering into Ron Burgundy territory before the abrupt turn into onstage finger-breaking. Lexi looked pretty scared, too. 5 hours ago, SovietShooter said: The girl at ringside smitten with Andrade this week was Mel Coleman, the artist who does all of Don Callis' fun custom paintings. https://bsky.app/profile/melcolemanart.bsky.social/post/3mizu3o7nic2b I thought Don painted those, himself?! *** -United Empire looked cool showing up in suits. Henare also looked someone who had never seen a suit before, never mind looking comfortable in one. I think the Italian guy (I can't remember his name) probably had the biggest break-out of any of them. -Willow-Aminata was pretty good. -Christian/Edge-FTR was pretty stupid. I'm supposed to be sympathetic to the guy who said he had banged both the other guys' moms?! My favourite part was when they were "breaking" Christian's arm and they showed Edge laying on the floor and a ringside fan clearly, loudly said "Get uppppp!" with all the sympathy of an overtired father trying to get his toddler to stop laying on the floor of a Wal-Mart pretending to cry because he won't buy them a new Paw Patrol dinosaur vehicle. -I think Ciampa should win the title because you can write the easiest story around it: play into his thing about obssessing over the title and how he refuses to lose it. Instead of open challenges, he tries to avoid defences as much as possible, making guys win eliminators before he'll put the title up, lots of cheating to win, even walk-outs (countouts) and DQs to get out of losing the title. He keeps it through sheer meanness and cheating when all else fails. Holds it for a couple months and just as he gets up closed to Fletcher's record (You might have to fudge the numbers/defences a bit), Fletcher comes back to take it off him. You could even do a double-turn where Callis sides with Ciampa because he's got more of a killer instinct than the newly-face Fletcher, if you wish. 2
