But I get ppl dreamed about main eventing Wrestlemania, shooting their shot etc Dude probably spent 100, maybe you 1000, hours kicking a t-shirt against a wall trying not to hit the wall. And AEW is, as much as anything. else, about recognising these insanos. God bless these pricks (including Tiffany, she's a prick too), and may Coach Tony K give as many of these Levesque forsaken pricks as many monthly pay checks as possible. And yes, more Oogentroost. I can only go off of what I last saw of her in Japan and that ruled. Everyone seems to go on autopilot in WWE, is checked out, or is so governed by the system that shit just doesn't work. The people who stand out are the people who are really used to the WWE system or house style, excel at it, or are good enough to adapt to it. Others just get so watered down that it isn't interesting. Or at least that's what I gleaned from watching the Cena retirement show and WM which are the only two WWE shows I've watched in I don't know how long. 2
Eivion Posted April 26 Posted April 26 (edited) Plenty of people work fine, nowhere near autopilot, checked out, or brought down by the system. Kairi has just never adapted too well stylistically outside of Japan though she has still been solid-good. She was just always best in Japan. She is just geared better for it given her size and the storytelling style of Japanese wrestling. Its why her staying for AEW is frankly a terrible idea. As someone who was still enjoying her work recently in the ring and outside of it I would still much rather see her go to Stardom or Marigold than join AEW or go back to WWE as people are attempting to campaign for. The bigger thing to me is that Kairi has shown zero interest in ever signing with AEW. She's had chances to do so and didn't, not even rumors or anything. My assumption is she will go back to Japan and be a semi-active Freelancer like she did for years before re-signing, maybe focusing on Marigold since she is close with Rossy.... she may just be a wrestler that dreamed of wrestling in WWE and that's the only promotion she is interested in working for in the US. Which of course is perfectly fine but of all the wrestlers released I'd put her as the least likely to go to AEW, even below Black.

That said, is there no greater kiss of death for someone's time in the WWE than being given the "Devil's Advocate" gimmick? See a lot of mention of AEW and Japan but I have to wonder if you're TNA, if you take a big swing at some of the main roster talent getting released. In a world where Lucha Underground is no longer around, TNA might be the perfect spot for Aleister.

I'm guessing Stark & MCMG end up in TNA if AEW doesn't pick them up.
username Posted April 27 Posted April 27 FWIW something that personally has me slightly torn is that unless someone is an outright creep I really don't like to see people lose their jobs... but both WWE and AEW more or less hording talent isn't good for the industry at large (if you dislike that phrasing fair enough, regardless their rosters are bigger than they need by a wide margin) and the entire global scene would probably be better if... let's say their rosters were 15-20% smaller. Ideally this would come about via contracts running out or actual buyouts as opposed to layoffs. TNA getting some names to make up for the huge amount they lost in the past six months or so, there being more name wrestlers working the indies getting people to turn out, a couple going to the other company to freshen things up are actually good things, I just wish it was via better circumstances. 4

Unless you're someone that had gotten out of NXT or the developmental system in some form, I don't see why TNA would be your first choice. Obviously if you don't get picked up by AEW or New Japan or don't turn into someone that get hot on the indies then TNA is the next best thing but Unless your an indie guy that has yet to get a look at by WWE, I don't see why people would want to go to TNA. The rumors of Black not wanting to take the fall for people in his last run has AEW diehards not wanting him back. I have the same feelings about Black as I do for Apollo. These guys still have alot left and both guys spent years waiting for WWE and or AEW to do something with them. Im excited for Apollo and I don't know about Black. TK could treat him like Andrade and give him another shot because he knows Black probably wouldn't want to go back to WWE if they offered him a new deal. Its probably alot of older AEW that aren't as open to their chances in a HHH run WWE as they may have been 2 -3 years ago. The last few releases are full of people they let go and hired back only to not do anything with these people again. 1

Everything they say is the exact opposite of what actually happened in their career. Bubba is one of the least talented wrestlers who somehow had a great career, just like Charles Barkley is an all-time great whose career looks even better when you look at the advanced stats. If ECW didn't exist in the exact era where they just let you get on the mic and say edgy things, he would have never been over enough to keep a job. He was able to use that bit of serendipity to build his skills into something bigger and better. He should be able to see that wrestling doesn't click for everybody immediately. Sometimes, you need to be put in the right situation to thrive and find your footing. He's the exact person who should see the things that make these guys unique and push them in the right direction. 3
