And so it begins again for the Dodgers

Edwin Diaz is having elbow surgery and will miss 3 months (to have “loose bodies” removed)

So he'll be well-rested for the pennant race that the Dodgers will have a 15-game lead in anyway.

The Royals, losers of 8 in a row and holding the worst record in baseball, will finally announce their decision for a new ballpark tomorrow morning.

Rumors say it'll be a downtown KCMO site with 600M from the city, 900M of bonds from the state, and the team covering the rest.

EDIT: and also last second news that they're putting the ballpark in a site that hasn't been mentioned as a site until the day before

Your annual reminder that, had they not been so dang cheap, the Tigers could've had an infield with Tram & Lou AND Ozzie.

I am doing this from memory but what I heard on the radio this morning was that the Mets are the first team in MLB history to finish above .500 and then in the next season lose 12 straight games before the end of April

The Royals ballpark plan: $3b, 2/3rds privately funded, in the area of Crown Center (a big-ass mall/shopping area in KCMO), with the ballpark going over the most empty since Covid headquarters of Hallmark. AI concepts were shown.

Technically building a ballpark and revitalizing a mall area at the same time. Gonna find ways to technically make this work out financially

And the last time the Mets lost 12 straight was also the last time the Jets won their division  (2002)

Munetaka Murakami is doing exactly what he was willed billed to do - hit home runs

He has homered in 5 straight games which ties the MLB rookie record (which has been done now 13 times)

He has 10 HRs so far this season which is 2nd in the majors.

The 1990 Royals are responsible for a certain number of "teams facing the two reigning Cy Young winners in the same game" when they signed Mark Davis to close games and then quickly found out that he stunk

Opening Day 1990: where Saberhagen gets a quality start and leaves up 3, only for Sam Horn to hit a three run homer off Steve Farr and Mark Davis gets to pitch in the 11th after the Orioles took the lead on Jeff Montgomery

Nope. I’m not going to do it. This is not going to be year three where I start believing in the Cubs before the ASB only for them to do nothing July through September. I said I wasn’t going to do it last year and I did and, well, they still came close to moving onto the NLCS so they could have been swept out by the Dodgers.

Who am I kidding. If they’re still this good in June I’m going to fall for it again.

Just please extend Nico right now before it’s too late.

Oh yeah - the Red Sox players are pissed

Granted it would have a lot more meaning if the charge wasn't being lead by Trevor Story who only hits better than I do at the moment

Aroldis Chapman passed Goose Gossage for 2nd place on all time strikeouts for a Relief Pitcher (Chapman now has 1341)

He needs 22 more to pass Hoyt Wilheim for first

Mike "Leader" Casiano is a good friend of mine and a true NYC Sports Legend. If you have ever been to a Mets game and heard the "HEEEEEEEEEEEEEE STRUCK. HIM. OOOOOOOOOOUT!!!" call after a Mets pitcher gets a strikeout that's him. This number is legit and he can document it with ballpark stamps and boxes of ticket stubs.

Luis Gil potentially threw his last pitch for the Yankees

He is quite stinky now and got himself optioned back to AAA

Jasson Dominguez was recalled. The reason for that is because Giancarlo Stanton is probably going on the IL. Hope you were sitting down for that shocking news

The Phillies have fired Rob Thomson

Don Mattingly is the interim manager
