Opening this now because I'll forget there's random games that counts in the middle of this week, and the Australia game, which I believe is tape delayed from two weeks ago... I forget how time zones work.

There are no Australia games - are you confusing MLB and NFL?

The Yanks and Giants play Wednesday and then a lot of games Thursday and Friday. Saturday will be the first day all 30 teams play on the same day

The Padres and D-Backs play in Mexico at the end of April and those are the only international games this year

I couldn't sleep last night because I watched the finale of Season 2 of The Traitors.

There's no way CT and Trishelle weren't fucking each other's brains out.  😠

Objection: CT doesn't have any brains to fuck out.

Counter: CT is still pretty good at puzzles, but is still dumb enough to go into the Challenge incredibly out of shape.

Also, glad to hear CT is still making horrible mistakes in women. CT's wife is so batshit crazy that I'm surprised no one is beating down her door to get her to be on one of these things.

Also, in completely shocking news, not only may the Cubs be extending one player, which is surprising enough, but two - PCA and Nico Hoerner, our Greek God of Knocks. PCA I'm not sure about and they're the closest to extending him or they already have, but the rumblingz are they're working on doing the same with Hoerner.

I use the word "Mapril" for the combined March/April baseball stats, and Septober for the combined Sept/Oct stats

You and I know the correct name:

Assuming that's real if and likely when they sell replicas on the site I will definitely be buying one.  I'm still a sucker for the Black City Connect jersey and got the ones with no name when they had a sale.  Thanks.

I was at the Braves-Mets game at Shea in 1987 where Dion James hit a routine fly ball that hit and killed a bird and ended up possibly the most bizarre double in baseball history.

The PCA extension is 6 years, $115 million. There are no option years so the deal buys out his first two FA years

Yeah, was discussing that with friends today. Not bad. Not bad at all. He becomes a FA at age 30 where if he continues on his pace the team won't be able to afford him, but that's not really the Jed or Tom's MO. So $19M per is A-OK with me even if he's kind of a dick and needs to mature a lot. And take the Javy path of not swinging at everything.

Now I wait for them to sign Nico Hoerner before he becomes the Cubs next DJ LeMahieu where he's just cast off and becomes a stud like he was projected to be. He's fallen off now, but since history rhymes, I wouldn't be shocked if it happens again with Nico.

Unfortunately, the Cubs rotation is utter fucking dogshit. My hopes for the team are the same as they were last year. Start hot and make it through July without completely crashing down to Earth and I'll start believing. But it has been two years in a row now where the team turned into a ghost around the ASB and all I could and still do think about is what they would look like if they just kept Schwarber.

PCA strikes me as a guy whose game could age poorly if he doesn't develop.  A speed/defense guy with a .287 OBP?  All it takes is losing a little bit of a step and his value craters.  That said, he added a lot of power last year and MOST guys figure out that walking once a week is bad and get better about that.

TL;DR - I think this is an excellent signing with good value that gets the Cubs out of the deal before he gets old.

The Giants are breaking a 19 year streak of starting a different person at RF on opening day.

Heliot Ramos is the first person to do so since some guy named Bonds.

Yeah, this ain't right.  Bonds played LF.  Near as I can tell, he didn't play RF outside of a single game in 1987.

Typo.  Ramos is also a LF and will break the 19 year streak for LF for the Giants.

He definitely needs to mature, both as a person and at the plate. Reminds me a lot of Javy Baez, but Javy has gone from figuring it out to falling back to figuring it out again. The second half of the season really hurt PCA, but the whole team nosedived. If it weren't for them being redhot up until June they don't even hang on to make the WC round. Suzuki, PCA, Tucker, and Happ all fell off a cliff. Busch stayed hot, but I don't think he replicates that season so there will be some regression there. Shaw is promising, but he's also a dipshit for reasons I won't get into him. Actually, him and Busch both are dipshits. But PCA lost any protection he had in the lineup and half the lineup was flailing. Even with PCA's terrible second half he was still worth 6 WAR. Given the current value for wins, I think the Cubs won out here and they're even big winners if PCA can maintain the type of performance he had through the first half of the season.

I'm happy the Cubs are paying for what a player could be for once instead of who a player was. Although the last time they did that was with Happ and I really don't like Happ.

Baez hasn't figured it out.  He had a .680 OPS last year.  He had a good first half, then put up months of .426, .628, and .548 OPS.  He sucks.
