The Natural Posted March 20 Posted March 20 (edited) Seems to be a pattern that the post show PPV Dynamite's feel a let down. The go home and post PPV Dynamites are your most important. It's hard following on AEW's excellent PPV's, they've only ever had a few bad ones. Edited March 20 by The Natural 1
NoFistsJustFlips Posted March 20 Posted March 20 Mercedes returns as a face. Wins the world title from Thekla. Successfully defends it against the Owen winner at All In. Post match Rousey gets in the ring and goes face to face with Mercedes. Toni's music hits and she sprints down. She bee-lines right for Mercedes because surprise she's been a secret heel all along and she did it. Rousey kind of just slinks away and doesnt even end up working anyone. Now we have a heel champ Mercedes vs baby face Toni mega feud.
Curt McGirt Posted March 20 Posted March 20 So I guess after that Rousey gets boxed up and sent to be examined by top men, i.e. goes to TNA?

Like Tony Khan would sign someone make a big huge debut for them and then forget about them after a few appearances? Pssh... yeah, right! 7

SovietShooter Posted March 20 Posted March 20 Any chance she may be gone for roughly nine months? 3 4
AxB Posted March 21 Posted March 21 AEW has a weirdly bad track record with people who come in from MMA. Dan Lambert, Paige Van Zant, Jake Hager... perhaps it's for the best that Demetrious Johnson only ever fought Kenny Omega in Street Fighter 5, on Twitch. 1 1
JLSigman Posted March 21 Posted March 21 11pm is way too late for me, I'll have to catch up on these later. Really hoping the Brawling Birbs beat the sin out of the Sisters. That Death Riders match will be good (won't spoil CMLL's show from last night), and Rush has really impressed me lately. 2

Maybe MMA has a disproportionate amount of shitty people. Like maybe folks who have dedicated their lives to their ability to hurt other people might be more likely to be trash human beings than other people. Just doing some half ass Saturday morning Sydney M. Basil armchair shrink work, but maybe flipping that switch in your brain to make it cool to just fuck somebody else up regularly, eventually that switch stays in the on position and ruins your judgement in other aspects of life. Well, that and CTE. 1

He had a good run in AEW. 2
Curt McGirt Posted March 21 Posted March 21 (edited) I think he was more meaning the moral fibre of the people they bring in? Maybe not, and he's just shitting on Hager as a wrestler. They could always elevate either by bringing in Warmaster. Make a Bloodsport Championship, heh heh. Those poor girls. The Birds are gonna beat the bricks off them. The Sisters better throw fire or something. Edited March 21 by Curt McGirt 1

But also, for the first year or two of his run he was good as the muscle for the more charismatic Jericho. Perfectly believable as a difficult guy to get past, booked strongly enough to stay believable in that role, and his matches were generally fine. He never came very close to being a top guy, but that wouldn't have been a reasonable expectation for him. He did flounder somewhat when separated from Jericho, but in my opinion that just reinforces the idea that he's best used as muscle for a more charismatic performer. 3

I don't need to subscribe to his delusions or politics to say - Hager was a really good hand throughout his run. Not everybody is cut out to work the top of the card, but that doesn't mean they 'suck' or are unsuccessful. Ppl under value the work that happens underneath to make the stars. Hager contributed very well where he was needed. 1

Curt McGirt Posted March 22 Posted March 22 Okay, just FYI, they decided to split Collision up to an hour on Saturday and an hour on Sunday on TNT. Now on the streamers, they got the whole thing (I believe). So cause of that I'm gonna spoiler my comments about tonight. Spoiler - I loved the hell out of Robbie Eagles vs. Kyle Fletcher. From the very start Kyle treats Eagles (who I mistakenly thought was Pillman's kid for half a second when I first looked up at the screen) like an absolute ragdoll. The very first lockup, he just takes him and pitches him face-first into the mat, which is the meanest thing I've seen in a wrestling match in quite awhile. It's all about Eagles being spunky and trying to ignore the fact that he's being bodyslammed as if he was a 9-year old. There's a brutal Falcon Arrow/MD #2 that the ref pretty much should have counted three that the crowd and Fletcher get on him about, but it allows Eagles to finally get a comeback which results in an almost botched Poison Rana and a Sliced Bread attempt that makes it look like Robbie's falling from the top of a tower; Fletcher is just too tall. The size and power disparity really makes this one. - Ingobernables squash is almost too short. I expected more jobber mutilation. Thekla has a great loony promo which seems to be her specialty. Then the Birds vs. Sisters match almost feels like a squash itself initially because the Birds are just ludicrously, hilariously stiff. Sisters battle back with wile. Also, Alex Windsor has a studded punk jacket with one arm like Finlay! No Road Warrior shoulderpad though. Far as the Death Riders vs. Luchadores match, it's pretty much what you'd expect with a lot of dickishness from Danny. There are two really good highspot parts that almost go really wrong. There's your first night! 2
Curt McGirt Posted March 22 Posted March 22 Note: I don't give any finishes away up there if you wanna go ahead and read, it's just for anyone who doesn't want to know what's being shown at all. 1
