(UNLESS... apparently if he doesn't feel like standing by the stipulation? Consequences? What are those? ) An' I don't give a damn 'bout my bad reputation! JLowe Posted March 17 Posted March 17 Didn’t watch the PPV yet, but always think it’s weird when AEW runs a rematch from the PPV at the next Dynamite. The coffin match also might’ve been better suited for a PPV than a Dynamite. But I’m not the booker, because I also wouldn’t have bothered with a Ronda Rousey appearance or another random trios title switch (regardless of how cool it is for Mistico). 1

If Darby had just shown up and jumped him right then and there it would have been truly tremendous. See, I think one of the things about AEW "giving away" killer matches for free is you know the PPV is gonna be just as good. Classic wrestling logic doesn't really work with them. 3

Cobra Commander Posted March 19 Posted March 19 (edited) Things I remember from this week's edition of AEW Dynamite: weekly Moxley brawl Darby crashing a car to try and somehow injure Gabe Kidd more. Then he wrestles Gabe Kidd's corpse for a bit. Wearing headphones and just seeing that Darby/Gabe outdoors brawl made it seem even wilder/dumber Back to back segments involving people driving their vehicles to the arena! Swerve wants a title shot and to be an EVP Speedball and Mark Davis having a fun one MJF talks in a locker room. There's various Callis family drama for another week That back suplex through a table looked dangerous for both people but Mina actually wins a big match as a substitute for Toni Copeland and Christian are here to give the Bucks a talk FTR comes out and I start wondering when this show is gonna end Edited March 19 by Cobra Commander 1

But yeah this was crap too, as well. The only good stuff was the absurdly stiff Speedball/Mark Davis match where pretty much any offensive exchange could have credibly ended the match, and the Mina/Marina match where Marina was mean as hell and said "I don't need no barbed wire" and "DO BETTER", and Mina ate shit on the table bump but she still won and she cried and it was awesome. The rest of it? Let's see... Jurassic Express' corny-ass bus. A cinematic part in a deathmatch where at least one guy should have actually died. The Young Bucks whining. Roppongi Vice in a main event. Going over-time just so people could talk. But the nadir was Swerve starting a "who's the boss" angle, when AEW has firmly NEVER had any of that bullshit in their booking. Like, ever. Fuck all that. EDIT: Oh there was one other good thing! Jack Perry getting a squirrel to eat out of his hand got a chuckle from me. Speedball vs Davis was solid as hell. Marina vs Mina was pretty good, but didn't need the weapons. TANGENT: How can you have a "no holds barred" match, when the promotion doesn't have any "banned" holds/moves? 5

Danielson even tried pointing out that a barbed wire baseball bat is NOT a hold and thus still should've been illegal. Alas, all in vain. I don't think the AEW refs can even spell DQ 1

username Posted March 19 Posted March 19 (edited) Them going for a "talent wants to be a boss" story makes me markedly less confident that they thought through the whole Hangman can never challenge for the title again stip. I didn't catch the match and I normally love Darby, but an ether rag is a match ending deal, not a match starting one. Same with vehicular homicide. EDIT: I almost forgot, Danielson sort of tuning out during Ospreay's entrance and being caught completely off guard by Excalibur bringing up the Toni Storm deal was hilarious. You rarely see someone boff something on commentary that badly on national TV. Edited March 19 by username
Jenalysis Posted March 19 Posted March 19 Moved to Ecuador this week, our internet got hooked up just in time for us to get myAEW.com (which is a great deal if you live overseas or VPN) and watch the show with my wifey after some awesome tigrillo today. I've been through travel hell this week so we needed it. The Darby/Kidd match was ridiculous, but it gets Kidd over with the AEW crowd as a badass in his own great, and my wife loved it. My biggest happy moment was seeing MJF go 90% Bock after the setup to $500 a punch. A Bock-inspired MJF is best MJF. My wife watches the Meerkat Ultra vids, and so she's been full Mina is getting shafted lately 9and both of us love Mina due to some personal interactions before we fled the US), so we were so happy she got the upset win on Marina. Mina is so good at being an underdog, and Marina just has this awesome charisma of her own (my wife kinda has a thing for Marina aesthetically, she wants to be lesbian Marina) I like the Swerve/Omega thing, though Omega should win it. Heel EVPs suck, even if it would be a way to do a Swerve reign of terror and perhaps remove the Hangman stip. It fits their characters, Omega really isn't that interested in using EVP power after he lost the belt, and the history with Swerve ending the Bucks and Hangman losing it all makes it seem higher stakes. The Speedball/Davis match was awesome. Davis is so awesome, and Speedball's just a likable goofball. I'm not super high on Speedball but they always have fun matches and I like them in trios. Main event didn't do anything for me really, and Cope/Cage do less than nothing, watned a potty break so bad during the main event. 10

Goddammit, Michael Jackson may or may not have done "Presidential" things during his life but that doesn't stop me from appreciating Beat It, Billie Jean and Dirty Diana! No matter what I think of the person, some performances just demand respect. Also, Okada's character work is outstanding right now! That promo on Bucks (and never miss an opportunity to shit on Takeshita) was so good! If he ever learns how to wrestle, he's going rule American wrestling ! Edited March 19 by Shartnado more 1 1
