The Natural Posted March 3 Posted March 3 (edited) Anybody want to take a stab at what the WrestleMania XLII card will be? Here's my go: World Heavyweight Championship: CM Punk (c) vs. Roman Reigns. WWE Championship: Drew McIntyre (c) vs. Cody Rhodes vs. Randy Orton vs. Jacob Fatu. Women's World Championship: Stephanie Vaquer (c) vs. Liv Morgan. WWE Women's Championship: Jade Cargill (c) vs. Rhea Ripley. WWE Intercontinental Championship: Penta (c) vs. Finn Balor vs. Dominik Mysterio. WWE United States Championship: Carmello Hayes (c) vs. Sami Zayn vs. Ilia Dragunov vs. Je'Von Evans. WWE Women's Intercontinental Championship: AJ Lee (c) vs. Becky Lynch. WWE Women's United States Championship: Giulia (c) vs. IYO SKY. WWE Women's Tag Team Championship: Nia Jax/Lash Legend (c) vs. Bayley/Lyra Valkyria vs. Charlotte Flair/Alexa Bliss vs. Kabuki Warriors or Bella Twins. Seth Rollins/LA Knight vs. Logan Paul/Austin Theory. Gunther vs. Rey Mysterio or Brock Lesnar. Brock Lesnar vs. Gunther or Oba Femi or LA Knight. I think it'll be Oba Femi. El Grande Americano vs. El Grande Americano. --- Hardest thing was deciding which championships made it, which didn't as you can't get them all on and Gunther's opponent. The Natural Posted March 3 Posted March 3 @Dolfan in NYC: Cheers for still using Roman numerals, Kelvin. All PPV/PLE should. I prefer it to the year.
zendragon Posted March 3 Posted March 3 Middle aged men when they hear Wrestlemania tickets are on sale When they see the actual cost of those tickets 2

This feels like a solid guess. I think Gunther has to be taking on Rey if he is healthy. Unless they have surprise debut planned Oba is basically a guarantee to take on Lesnar. I just hope Oba actually wins. Don't think we see Io vs. Giulia as Io no longer has a legit way to challenge being on Raw. I doubt we see a Giulia defense at all. It will probably be some multi-women match on Smackdown the night before. I think we get MFTs vs. Wyatt Sicks in a stip match of some sort. Just not sure if it will be for the tag titles or a faction war. If its for the tag titles I can see them slipping Tama out so he can be one of challengers for the US title. 1

I think Gunther gets Rey Mysterio if he's in condition to. Oba Femi needs to be beat Brock Lesnar. I just don't want him or Logan Paul on TV as both are POS. Iyo Sky vs. Guilia was my next best thing for both, particularly Iyo as she's not in either world title match and deserves something. I was hoping for Rhea Ripley vs. Iyo Sky.
The Natural Posted March 18 Posted March 18 Gunther was planned to have a WrestleMania match with Rey Mysterio, but due to the latter's injury it has caused Gunther's creative direction to change. At this point in time, it is unknown if Gunther will have a match at WrestleMania unless Mysterio is cleared in time. (Source: Bodyslam.net - Pro Wrestling & MMA News+).
Eivion Posted March 18 Posted March 18 Thought might be the case. Its a shame, but I can't think of anything that wouldn't feel rushed to try with him now.
Dolfan in NYC Posted March 18 Author Posted March 18 Alternately... it's fucking WrestleMania and you can not leave the guy who - within the last 90 days - retired two of your biggest stars ever, off the card. Have him do the mystery opponent route because he pisses off Pearce and/or Aldis. At the show, let him and Je'Von tear the house down for 15 minutes. Or Royce Keys beating him after a bombing war, which you can easily write around by saying Gunther wasn't ready for someone as big a "powerhouse" as Keys. 2
The Natural Posted March 20 Posted March 20 Honestly, I'd rather have Gunther vs. Ilja Dragunov at WrestleMania 42 than Gunther vs. Rey Mysterio as it's cutting it close for Rey. Gunther vs. Ilja have amazing chemistry, it'll probably be the stiffest match in WrestleMania history. You have to have Gunther in a WrestleMania match having retired John Cena and AJ Styles in quick succession.
The Natural Posted March 20 Posted March 20 I'm thinking Brock Lesnar vs. Gunther at SummerSlam 2026 in Lesnar's hometown of Minneapolis, Minnesota. 1
Phantom Lord Posted March 22 Posted March 22 Just because he has the career killer tag for retiring people doesn't mean every match has to be a retirement match with him. Personally, I always thought Dom should be the one to retire his dad. Hair vs. Mask. The heat he would get for taking his dad's mask permanently would be huge. 4

hammerva Posted March 29 Posted March 29 (edited) If I paying 10k for a tour bus, it better at least take me back to the hotel or house I assume that Becky is beating AJ for the title. No reason for her to lose again except they cant think of anything else to do with them. Also not sure if AJ has a future after WM Edited March 29 by hammerva 1

Kevin Wilson Posted March 31 Posted March 31 They added a bunch of matches tonight on RAW, they are now up to 12 according to the always reliable wikipedia. Still nothing with the Asuka/Kairi storyline and nothing for IYO, that's been a focal storyline so I hope they make it on WM and aren't just on 'super smackdown' the Friday before. Last year each show had seven matches so room for a couple more if they opt to fill the cards out.
odessasteps Posted March 31 Posted March 31 Thank goodness they aren’t sticking to 4 matches per night. 1
