Casey Posted March 27 Posted March 27 Triller is no longer accepting new sign ups for AEW+ and directs customers to MyAEW now. Not surprised, but hopefully Orange Crush can turn the business around since it’s vital for a handful of indies (namely GCW).
NikoBaltimore Posted March 27 Posted March 27 That's unfortunate. I'm sure Triller will soon stop with AEW but that's going to be a problem for various reasons. MyAEW is good but there's a device limit so if I have people over I can't stream the show on Discord that night (unless I find an alternative which I try to not do). It also sucks when it comes to fast forwarding when catching up so if it's live I have to go out of the show and go back in to fast forward. And it takes so damn slow to do so. I tried to find something in the show and had to go to Triller to get where I needed to go to. I'll need to do the feedback form but if they can figure all that out aside from device limits it might be easier for me to adopt this going forward.
Dolfan in NYC Posted March 27 Posted March 27 Meltzer is saying that TK will not answer any questions about: 1) The bid to buy WWE, and 2) Toni Storm's absence. His report is Toni was supposed to beat Marina Shafir and begin a program with Thekla for the world title. So.... I'd read between the lines and say her "unexplained absence" (probably being pregnant) has made him ... what's the next step beyond livid?
Peck Posted March 27 Posted March 27 (edited) When Juice starts eating pins that will probably be a pretty good sign. Well... more than he normally does. Although Vince would have made him come out with a condom balloon on his head, so YMMV. Edited March 27 by Peck 6

Except instead of just being left outside the building, at the end of a Dynamite or Collision, we just see him with a backpack walk through the roads and streets trying to hitchhike while "The Lonely Man Theme" plays.

I never knew that was the name of the song, but when I read that sentence, I thought “I bet that’s the song from The Incredible Hulk.” 5

JLSigman Posted March 27 Posted March 27 Just when he was getting a good push, Josh Alexander needs surgery for a "major" knee injury (his own words from an Instagram video) 4
Niners Fan in CT Posted March 27 Posted March 27 I know ratings are all bullshit these days but this week's number was something like 765K on TBS alone. I bring that up because it's clear that AEW is doing well over one million viewers weekly right now with HBO combined. You look at that along with the great PPV buyrates they are doing and great attendance figures for PPVs and it seems like everything is clicking for AEW right now. They haven't had this much momentum in a while. I feel like it all started during the lead up to 'ALL In' last year. The only thing that could be better is the weekly TV attendance but even that's been up year over year. 7
Casey Posted March 28 Posted March 28 apparently there’s a real possibility that TK goes onto Vince Russo and the Coach’s podcast sometime soon. He likes both of them and Russo is dying to meet TK apparently (gee I wonder why). oh boy 1 2

I went to the first show. I had to bring binoculars but it was fun as hell. And let me tell you, (a) a dropkick in the corner looks 20 times more vicious when the victim is wearing a frilly little dress, (b) after 90 minutes without any Western-style heel shtick, the crowd wanted the IIs DEAD within the first two minutes. It was great. 1

Being up from what is widely considered one of the worst episodes of a Dynamite in a long time is extra impressive, and as was pointed out online this was also going up against Baseball opening night (albeit one game streaming on Netflix). They’re doing a lot of things right, even if it isn’t all for me, and they clearly have momentum. 1
Casey Posted March 28 Posted March 28 It should be noted that’s the highest rating they’ve gotten in almost two years. 2
username Posted March 28 Posted March 28 I have said this for all the bad numbers across companies so gotta be consistent with the good ones as well: the way they are calculating numbers is seemingly changing significantly every few weeks with them committing to doing the same through I believe at least the fall, until it theoretically normalizes for a bit in the future I would not put any weight behind any of them. I would not be shocked if the actual audience for Dynamite this week was similar to last week's but they are now weighing X, Y and Z more as opposed to A, B and C.
Niners Fan in CT Posted March 28 Posted March 28 Well, that's why I listed PPV attendance figures and PPV buyrates as well. Both are better than ever. AEW has momentum by every business metric and it feels like most fans are enjoying what they are seeing. 5

The Natural Posted March 29 Posted March 29 Kyle Fletcher wearing a walking boot following AEW Collision. Hate to see any wrestler injured even those I don't like. 1
Casey Posted March 29 Posted March 29 I really don’t think Fletcher’s comments about All In were that bad. We don’t often think about what it does to the wrestler who (potentially) injures someone, we just rightfully think about the guy who got injured. I’m sure it’s a mindfuck, especially in this case when Cole’s career is probably over. Add that weight to the pressure of working a big show like All In Texas (with his family there, I believe?) and I’m sure it’s enough to mentally break most people. Seems like he was trying to be respectful and not speak too much on Cole’s situation because it’s not his place to speak on it. Just my two cents from reading both of his comments. 9
username Posted March 30 Posted March 30 Yeah I think it was more of a "foot slipped into his mouth" situation with Fletcher rather than any kind of actual bad thought/comment. I'm sure it is very true that what was likely to be a crowning day for him ended up being a huge drag, but you gotta know that if you say something that comes off as rather "woe is me" about a day where someone else had it much worse off (and is fresh enough where they are still stuck in limbo) it is gonna be a bad look. I think he learned that and addressed it which is all you can really ask of a young man. 2
The Natural Posted March 30 Posted March 30 Meltzer: There is talk of a couple of AEW stars in G-1 this year. AEW is working with New Japan as Bryan Danielson, Will Ospreay and Kenny Omega have done ads for the 7/11 show in Chicago putting over how important and grueling the tournament is. Tickets were under 2,000 the first day they were put on sale. Here's hoping. Who would you have? Claudio Castagnoli is a name that came straight to mind. Konosuke Takeshita will be in as defending G1 Climax Champion. 3
