I swear I remember Toni doing a sketch or promo where she acknowledged Jamie and her role in the Outcasts but waived it away as it being another lifetime but welcomed the challenge. But I don't think they ever got to a Toni/Jamie match. There were some 4 way matches (one was Rocker Toni) with both and Blood and Guts where they were on the same side but that's about it. There was also the 3 month gap in the summer of 2025 that Jamie didn't appear in AEW (don't remember the reason) but that was the Mone feud so they weren't going to pivot to that then. So yeah, they could go back to it if Jamie wants to be heel.

I am Dana White or Bob Arum, but who promotes a fight that was then 2 1/2 months away with something like that? Has that anymore effective than a media tour/press conference? Shit, just show her in the crowd like WCW did when Rena Mero was pissed at/in litigation with WWF.

OK, but i want to hear the absurd takes one gets to separate the stay-ers from the go-ers. I nominate anyone whose height (in inches) ends in an even number be let go. This is shoot height, not billed. But, just to make it interesting, if you are from a country who uses centimeters, then odd numbers gots to go.

I'm not a MMA fan and I have no idea who this Rhonda/Carano fight is for, but props to them for the grift.  And like @Elsalvajeloco said, who the hell is getting interested in this due to a one time run in on a wrestling show? 

It's just funny to me that, in my lifetime, I've seen the following progression of MMA in the US:

1. Barely-skilled human cockfighting/Gracie grift
2. Some semblance of acceptance of being a real sport while also running successful reality TV show
3. Uninteresting billion dollar corporate content generator
4. Streamer-grifting freakshow

Note: UFC is at #3, Netflix is at #4.

Rousey literally showed up the last time they were in LA for a one off ROH match too. She just does things with AEW when they're in LA to help out Marina. They never posted a Ronda is All Elite graphic. Which they 3000% would have if that was meant to be anything other than an LA one-off.

Had nothing to do with promoting that fight or anything else. It was hey Marina is my homie gonna do her a solid when they're in town and it's easy.

That was always my read on it. But I get the 'reception made them backoff' narrative seeming to make sense. Perception isnt always reality tho.

Speaking of "...is All Elite" graphics - the Inspiration got one, didn't they? Why have they not been on the shows since their match against the Birds? Have they been consigned to Ring of Honour or something?

I think they were at this most recent taping, so wonder if it was straightening out visas or fulfilling prior obligations?

It's been reported they've signed contracts and I believe at their house show debut, they said they were All Elite, but as of yet there has been no official IS All Elite graphic for it and are not yet on the roster page.

I think what's throwing people for a loop this time is that 1) it was on an AEW PPV, and not a ROH show that nobody watches and 2) she had a stare down with Toni (before Marina blindsided her and then they walked out - which was building to the No DQ match the following Wednesday obviously, but...). I guess you could say she was luring Toni back so Marina could get her revenge for losing, but it sure did seem like something was going to be happen in the future between the two. Go back and watch it, the live crowd popped big for Toni going back to the ring and confronting Ronda. You can't tell me that wouldn't have been a big match if it had went that way.

Most watched clip they've had in at least a month, too. I'll just be real blunt about it - if it was really just a one off, then okay, but if future plans were cancelled because some people on Reddit & Twitter complained I don't know that it's the right move.

Reading over @The Natural's favorite matches list reminded me of that Will Ospreay vs. Darby Allin bout from late 2024. A beautiful TV match. My mind's also wandering back to All In 2024 and the Bryan Danielson vs. Swerve Strickland Main Event. I completely bought the drama. Danielson calling out to his kids was incredible.

On the other end, I'm working through AEW PPVs and I had the displeasure of watching the Danielson/MJF iron man match from Revolution 2023.  Everything.  They do.  Is.        So.         Slow.      There is so much laying around, walking about, taking time to set up spots.  It's egregious how much time they waste because they need to go the full hour.  Holds take three times as long to break.  Moves are sold longer.  They take 2-3 minutes to set up a superplex, then they do the superplex, then they lay around for five minutes.  By the time there were 20 minutes left, I was hitting +10 at least once, usually more, after every single thing they did. 

It's the old wrestling adage, "you can tell they're going to go long because they're taking their time," but somehow this was worse because everyone knew it was an hour match and it felt like I'd fallen into a pocket dimension where time moves even more slowly.  

Also, can we please have an iron man match where regulation doesn't end in a tie?

I just watched the 56 minute double KO finish between Utami Hayashishita vs. Takumi Iroha the other night. There is a bit of that in the first 20-25 minutes. However, what I do respect is they don't just turn on the jets and start randomly kicking out of finishers and spamming big moves. It's very old school, but not a heavy handed tribute. The problem though is maybe they should have did the finish five minutes earlier. Felt like they missed the peak a few minutes too late for the ending to really resonate. They were going for Utami/Syuri (Iroha in the Syuri role as the striker) that got all the rave reviews, but ended falling a bit short as (1) Utami has been in quite the rut in Marigold and (2) Iroha is great but Syuri is a much, much better seller to make up for Utami being so stonefaced and expressionless.

I feel like the Yoshiko Tamura vs. Azumi Hyuga from December 2006 is the masterpiece of all masterpieces. Now that said, with the artillery they're throwing at each other, it might seem ridiculous about 40-45 minutes in. If pro wrestling were suppose to be real, you would be like "both of these women would be in the ICU for weeks". It's an Okada/Omega Spinal Tap thing of, "...but these go to 11."  I can be objective and say you either will love it or think this is flat out absurd at certain times.

Watched the Fujinami vs. Inoki broadway from 1988 a couple weeks ago now. That one is good, but slow at certain points. It's laid out though as it's not suppose to go 60 minutes though. It just feels like they've been wrestling awhile.

Around the time I watch the Fujinami/Inoki, I watched a 30 minutes broadway between Kawada and Kobashi from Champion Carnival 1995. That was awesome, but that's just an appetizer for the 60 minute broadway they did earlier in the year (1/19) that I plan to watch shortly.

I remember when Danielson was on his broadway kick in ROH and let me tell you as great as he is he's never been good at going 60, he can't help but heavily tip his hand early every single time.

To me, the best Iron Man match ever is Ricky Steamboat vs. Rick Rude at WCW Beach Blast 1992. Fucking love that match. Gave it *****. I also gave ***** to Bayley vs. Sasha Banks Iron Woman match at NXT TakeOver: Respect. Great match that.
