Niners Fan in CT Posted March 17 Posted March 17 I think everyone would be better off by acknowledging that a lot of wrestlers are pieces of shit and move on. This has always been the case. Every promotion. Damn near every promoter. It's part of what wrestling is. It's a carny ass business filled with some trash humans. You could choose to not watch AEW or skip the segments Ronda is on. But if you choose not to watch AEW then you're going to have a tough time finding a promotion that doesn't have shitty humans. 5 1

You dont get to claim free speech when it's hate speech and being a literal piece of shit telling parents whose children were murdered in a school shooting that it was all fake. You do you, but not understanding the nuance of why people are unhappy to see her is a you problem, not a free speech problem. ETA: Im so sick of people conflating free speech and freedom from consequences. Is she in prison? No. Thats what free speech entitles you to. No matter how dumb and vile, your words dont get you arrested. That has nothing to do with freedom from consequences. You dont get to say whatever vile shit you want then claim free speech free speech everyone has to be okay with it! No. People dont have to be okay with it. (And I personally am not even outraged she's here. I just have a little bit of consideration for others that do feel that way. Wish more people would try empathy and understanding before hate ranting.) Where's the hate speech? This is part of the problem with discourse on these topics. So much fucking hyperbole here. She never "told parents of Sandy Hook kids that it was fake" she shared a video about it that she later apologized for. She says some shit you disagree with and immediately it's "hate speech"? She never said she hates trans people or anything like that, far as I can tell. But I'm really not that invested in it TBH, so if there's some awful quotes please dig them up and maybe I'll change my mind. Please find me the "hate speech" because that is a really fucking heavy accusation you're making My go to on free speech is the Illinois Nazis. You let them air out their shit so you can denounce it and teach your kids how wrong and ignorant these people are. Muzzling people never works out. I'll also add that Frank Zappa is a personal hero of mine, look up what he had to say about words and free speech. I 100% believe in consequences for words/actions. The consequence is people like you go on the internet and talk about what an awful person she is while more or less making shit up. The consequence for me will likely be a bunch of you will think I'm an asshole for saying what I'm saying and I'm fine with that. I understand why people aren't happy. It's a free country. Go picket and boycott AEW if it bothers you so much. I don't think she's done anything that warrants being canceled or whatever you lot do to anyone who steps out of line. I'll stop now because I know the mods don't want this shit. PM me if you've got examples of genuine hate speech or feel the need to debate this further. edit* actually, you should respond and get the last word here if you want. I'm done, sorry mods. Edited March 17 by ExcellenceofAirPollution had to add Zappa for further context

I don't see that as transphobic but obviously mileage varies on this topic. Thought experiment. If in the 1940s/50s, someone said that Black Boxers should be banned from fighting White Boxers because they had genetic differences, and then said "I don't see that as racist but obviously mileage varies", how would you feel about that? 1 1
Bustronaut Posted March 18 Posted March 18 Perhaps I'll get in before this gets closed - "Freedom of Speech" only pertains to making it so that the government can't keep citizens from protesting, whether that be in large groups outside buildings, or in the media, social or otherwise. It does NOT mean people/companies have to give *ANYBODY* the time of day, the can deplatform whomever they choose, so long as it doesn't come from Governmental pressure. That being said, you (Mr. Air Pollution) are obviously not going about this in good faith, so it doesn't matter what I say, so I will no longer say anything to you, not read anything further. 3
The Natural Posted March 18 Posted March 18 (edited) Ronda Rousey, Gabe Kidd and that stupid syringe spot in MJF/Hangman Adam Page left a real bad taste in my mouth. Edited March 18 by The Natural
The Natural Posted March 18 Posted March 18 Random thoughts: FTR vs. Young Bucks was my MOTN, a MOTYC and the best of their five matches. Loved this. *****. Jon Moxley vs. Konosuke Takeshita and Andrade El Idolo were great and MOTYC. Those were possibly ***** matches as well. Need to watch both back. MJF vs. Hangman Adam Page Texas Deathmatch didn't need to be 45 minutes. Rest that stipulation for some time now. Has to be second longest AEW PPV match ever behind MJF vs. Bryan Danielson at AEW Revolution 2023. Only three singles matches in AEW went longer, MJF/Danielson at AEW Revolution 2023, Bryan Danielson vs. Hangman Adam Page on AEW Dynamite: 15th December 2021 and MJF vs. Will Ospreay on AEW Dynamite: 17th July 2024.

For someone not really invested you sure busted out one super long weird delusional monologue of a post there. I have zero desire to change your mind. I dont care how you think or feel, my life doesnt change one little bit either way. After that whiney petulant post I have to assume you're a child too. So maybe we'll revisit this when you grow up champ. 1 1
HarryArchieGus Posted March 18 Posted March 18 (edited) Really enjoyed this show. On tape Delay and in multiple parts. Started in with the Zero Hour Battle Royal. I generally skip these, but I liked the odd layout. An interesting way to get a bunch of spots in. Perry winning as something special feels extremely melodramatic – unearned in a dramatic sense. Ricochet's run unfortunately did nothing to establish what already felt like a meaningless title. FTR-Bucks was ‘their best’ I sensed it would be going in. I'm gonna take this match for another spin. I’m all for Cope/Cage mixing in - Cope works harder than credited, and Christian is a wonderful pro wrestler. Storm-Shafir was solid. Strange way to debut Rousey. Security seemed unnecessary. Love that Piper jacket. Mox-Takeshita was very good, but I agree with the poster who mentioned them mixing it up too much on TV – that it didn’t feel entirely fresh. Nonetheless, it brought me in hard during that closing stretch. Mox offering the hand was a weird precursor to playing the heel opposite the returning Ospreay. A couple highlights of the Death Riders injuring Ospreay would have benefitted that situation. Brody-Swerve was excellent. I’m with @DreamBrokenon wanting that Verterbreaker on the floor to end it with a 10 count (even when considering the main). I liked Thekla-Stat, but 2/3 was never a good idea. Thekla's a fun champ, and this was a necessary win for her. Mistico/JetSpeed-Okada/Davis/Fletcher and Darby/OC/Roddy-Kidd/Connors/Finlay were both good, and better than being overstuffed on this lengthy show. Having a PPV spotlight on Bandido-Andrade, on the otherhand, was a great idea. They did very well after the stripping portion. I liked the MJF-Hanger Main event, but skimmed heavily between spots. I loved the finish. I despise the stipulation. I don’t see a storyline that makes the stip worth breaking. I hope I can be convinced otherwise, and I do love the chatter about whatever they're planning is what Cody wouldn’t do. Edited March 18 by HarryArchieGus 3
just drew Posted March 19 Posted March 19 As great as that show was, I do think my favorite part of the entire evening was how thrilled TK was that Wayne Brady was there. Coach was downright giddy in the postshow presser...
