🎼 One child grows up to be... Somebody that just loves to learn, and a 'Nother child grows up to be... Somebody you'd just love to burn

Last week...

I can't believe they had a Custody of Tomasso Ciampa match before he even debuted!

🎸 Mom loves the both of them... You see, it's in the blood. Both kids are good to mom, blood's thicker than the mud, it's a family affair!

Meanwhile, in other family affairs, MJF is making friends with the newcomer...

(oooooooh...  Max, you so edgy!)

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 It's a family affair (It's a family affair)... It's a family affair, (It's a family affair)

So now let's see what family feuds will arise this week...

(I originally wanted to do the MJ Blige version but she *never* says Family or Affair in that entire song! Oh well.  This song rules regardless.)

Enjoy the week!

Great song, great band. Thanks!

MJF being an edgelord heel on his Twitter account is the appropriate place for it.

Looking forward to Stat v. Thekla, wonder if a title change is coming?

I proposed The Pantheon because they lean into the Greek goddess theme really hard with their intro, except for that month they had to cross-promote for DC. Why go through the trouble of putting that entrance together if they're just gonna be regular ol' baddies?

When they first started teaming, I kind of thought it was more of a Benny/Imhotep dynamic since Penelope had a lot of jobber stink on her, but now Penelope has improved her standing enough to be lower ranking deity at least.

Also, a pretty good doc that was just recently released. Despite the ambitious and slightly clumsy 'burden of black genius' thesis, Questlove's Sly Lives does a pretty good job of laying out the details of Sly and the Family Stone's monumental run. Quest's previous (masterpiece) Summer of Soul also features a pretty rad document of their all time great live show.

Megan Bayne needs a new hometown.  It's not as bad as when they announced Lady Frost as being from "someplace cold," but still.  I know Thessaloniki is a city in Greece, but it's a few syllables too many and sounds like something I'd put on my gyro.  Like if they fucked with us and said she hailed from Tzatziki, nobody would notice.

I don't know why they just don't announce her from Mount Olympus.

My absolute favorite thing in wrestling ever was an old Superstars when they had Davis under the mask as Mr. X.

Fink:  "From Parts Unknown, Weight, Unknown... Mr. X!"

Jesse: "What?  They couldn't get him to step on a scale backstage?"

Gorilla: "Mr. X set for action."

My original supposition was that the performer was actually from Thessaloniki and wanted her home town to be acknowledged. But if you believe Wikipedia, she's actually American, so I don't know. I do think it's kind of neat that somebody in the US apparently knows a Greek city other than Athens, but yeah, if they wanted to lean into her gimmick Mount Olympos would be the obvious choice.

Hey, when you call yourself "Mr. X" and wear a mask to the ring, you take your secrecy seriously! If people found out he weighs the same as Danny Davis they might put two and two together.

She's clearly Greek themed, though, not Norse.

She could be from the Elysian Fields if they wanted something a little less obvious.

I'm looking forward to Arez vs Briscoe.  I thought the defense vs Hechicero was a real corker and can't wait to see what they get up to.

See, this illustrates my point perfectly. Let's say this mystery figure is, I don't know, Moe. If he let himself be weighed and word got around that he weighed exactly the same as Moe, the jig would be up.

Fuck, they should do a Yellow Dog angle with Orange Cassidy where he still wrestles the same, is still announced as coming from "wherever" and weighting "whatever" and is basically wearing this mask:

Don't want to get into that Viking Enthusiast/White Supremacist Venn diagram.  That's WWE's job.

(Mr. and Mrs. Rowe have...uhh...opinions about certain things that definitely lead to certain inferences.

I didn't know nuthin about no Greek stuff. I see that outfit I think Valkyrie.

Bayne's headpiece looks a lot closer to modern depictions of Brunnhilde from the ring cycle than it does anything Greek so I definitely get the cultural confusion.

@NikoBaltimore and I would have noticed if Megan were suddenly announced as hailing from Tzatziki.

I thought of you guys when posting that!

I made my own Tzatziki once and, even though I'm not Greek, it was pretty damn good.

Megan Bayne is a talented lady, but the whole gimmick is total VK McCornball. She and Penelope Ford (who is a good hand) have the least amount of chemistry of any team that’s ever laced their boots in AEW. The Shafir-Bayne team stinks too. Bayne needs to find her way out of this unsuccessful union. She’s too talented to be treading water in the hit/miss women’s division. At this point, I have zero doubt where she’ll end up come contract time, and as of now there’s a pretty damn good reason for seeking a change of scenery.

I recently had tzatziki that wasn't so great at a recently opened diner in East Brunswick, NJ. I think they may have used sour cream instead of Greek yogurt. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't as good as I've had elsewhere.

Honestly, I like that idea a lot.  I too looked her up to see what's true or not but also saw she was born in the US.  I'm assuming her family was from Thessaloniki which makes for a nice tribute.  But even among some Greeks the word can trip them up.  Elysian Fields sound more mysterious plus has the Greek tie-in so it'd be a win-win.

I think I only had one bad tzaziki in my life.  Don't recall where I got it from but it was years ago and had an unpleasant aftertaste.  Don't think it was sour cream as the base was the same but something was added that just didn't work for me.  A lot of times it's best to keep it simple for a damn good tzaziki.
