Dragon Posted January 6 Posted January 6 See what Marvel really does to the new Ultimate Universe this year. And what they do to with the Armageddon Event, which is apparently Universe wide for 616 and the ultimate origin boxes of 6160 will appear in that event.

Dragon Posted January 23 Author Posted January 23 20 years of Civil War And there's Punisher vs another Punisher rising from the grave. Weird.

The Natural Posted February 14 Posted February 14 Civil War started in 2006, we're now in 2026 so it's turned twenty. I started following comic books properly the year before and it was years later I read the main book and Civil War: The Amazing Spider-Man. The latter was better than former thanks to a great writer in JM Straczynski. Civil War is a big milestone in Spider-Man history as he reveals his secret identity to the world for the first time ever and what it led to, Back in Black but especially the hated One More Day. It also drive some fans away and I can understand why. OMD is the worst Spider-Man story ever, Sins Past is second. Two of the worst in comic book history. Brand New Day sucked as well. Your thoughts on this time?
The Natural Posted February 14 Posted February 14 (edited) Spectacular Spider-Man: Brand New Day By Dan Slott, Marcus To & Marcos Martin starts in May. New ongoing series. I wish Dan Slott would fuck off from Spider-Man. Slott should have called it after The Superior Spider-Man (Vol. 1) ended. Every Spider-Man story of his since with the exception of The Amazing Spider-Man: Renew Your Vows (Vol. 1) has fucking sucked especially TASM (Vol. 3), TASM (Vol. 4) and Spider-Man: The Clone Conspiracy. It's the same voices from Brand New Day. Give someone new a chance. Edited February 14 by The Natural

Your thoughts on this time? i was in my "i buy all the big crossover comics" period of my fandom, so i bought all of these issues brand new. i wasn't following anything else from Marvel, so these felt like huge changes, especially the Spider-Man reveal. i enjoyed the series quite a bit, but did question a lot of the allegiances. i thought it was a step down after Secret War and Avengers Disassembled, but an improvement over House of M. And better than the next crossover, Secret Invasion. but i thought it was significantly worse than its competitor series, Infinite Crisis. 1

I followed Civil War mainly through the DVDVR MB at the time as I was new to the net and we didn't have a comic book store round here. I prefer the Civil War in Captain America: Civil War to the original one. Surprised we're not getting a proper Civil War III to go with Civil War and Civil War II instead of Civil War: Unmasked.

It sounds like the first issue explains Tony Stark's experiences that see him take up the pro-Registration side, so good luck to them trying to make sense of the hard character shift he went through for this. 1
odessasteps Posted February 17 Posted February 17 I mean, is it a surprise to see former arms merchant Tony Stark as pro reactionary right winger?
twiztor Posted February 18 Posted February 18 23 hours ago, odessasteps said: I mean, is it a surprise to see former arms merchant Tony Stark as pro reactionary right winger? reading the '80s & '90s books, Tony was staunchly against registration and against the government having control over both the Iron Man armor (technology he created) and the Avengers' autonomy. he would regularly defy government orders at all levels and distrusted them seemingly implicitly. so, if you just look at him as a "former arms merchant", then i understand where you're coming from. Hell, even his actual character traits, like running off half-cocked, guns blazing, could fit that narrative and at least align with certain segments of the right wing. But his actual personal beliefs have always ran completely counter to the idea that the gov't should have control.
The Natural Posted February 18 Posted February 18 Ultimate Spider-Man (2024) ended today with Ultimate Spider-Man #24. It bowed out on a high note. Thank you, Jonathan Hickman, Marco Checchetto, David Messina and Matthew Wilson. Ultimate Spider-Man was a great alternative to The Amazing Spider-Man. Now my pull list is back to no Spider-Man as I'm dropping The Amazing Spider-Man (Vol. 7) by Joe Kelly which is doing nothing for me, Zeb Wells on TASM (Vol. 6) is the worst TASM run ever and the worst comic book run I've ever read. Last great TASM run was TASM (Vol. 5) by Nick Spencer which ended four years ago, that's a damming indictment.
twiztor Posted February 20 Posted February 20 i'm interested enough to read it, but i don't expect it will be amazing or anything.
Brian Fowler Posted February 25 Posted February 25 (edited) Huh there are two of those I find legitimately interesting. (Also the answer to the first one is "he wouldn't be nearly such a dick.") Edited February 25 by Brian Fowler

Dragon Posted February 25 Author Posted February 25 Thor with a symbiote has been done before in different ways several times Earth 1089 Earth 1051 The What If special for Ultimate is further proof Marvel ignores the Bendis Ultimate Universe revival. To Hickman it never came back. The Cate plans for the 1610 Ultimate Universe were dropped and aborted and treated as if it never happened The Jessica what if one is cheeky, she was meant to be Jessica Drew originally but Bendis created his Jessica Jones OC instead for Alias ultimately. They retconned in Jones in 616 to be around Amazing Fantasy 15.
odessasteps Posted February 25 Posted February 25 That what if is most underwhelming, a lot like that Supes/Spidey list.
blitzkrieg Posted February 26 Posted February 26 Very much down my alley when it comes to nostalgia. 2
Dragon Posted February 27 Author Posted February 27 Ultimate Endgame 1 and 2 are out. 3 has a preview. Spoiler 6160 Peter is still alive so far. Some fans expect Marvel to kill him off. Ultimate Universe Finale' #1 is where the 6160 universe is "done' for good. EndGame was delayed to June and that's old news by now.
