Robert S Posted February 10 Posted February 10 That's sad and ... weird. For whatever reason I thought that he passed away a couple of years ago from cancer. Who am I mixing him up with? Not Nishimura, but was there any other NJPW wrestler approx. his age that died in the last few years from cancer? I was clicking through some names but couldn't find who I was looking for. Or is this just a case of a Mandela effect? (remark: I never got how people did think that Mandela passed away, he was in the news in the 90ies and 00s all the time)
Elsalvajeloco Posted February 10 Posted February 10 Over the past week or so, I was actually looking for Yasuda's match with Nagata for the IWGP title from April 2003. I think I saw it back in the day, but I just remember the photos of Nagata bleeding looking like utter madness. However, it's funny that he sorta had that JBL career where his first run with New Japan was largely nothing. Then, he comes back during his MMA career/kakutougi boom when Inoki was enamored with combat sports and gets pushed outta nowhere.

That he had passed away about a year or two ago... but I remember it SPECIFICALLY being him, not someone else from the same time period. Isn't that odd?! 1

Yeah, none of the names mentioned here fit the bill. I thought that it was maybe it was one of the Mad Dogs guys, but they are also all still alive. I can also find no report of Yasuda having health issues in recent years (via a quick Google search, at least).
Elsalvajeloco Posted February 12 Posted February 12 If a former IWGP champ died, we would have heard about it. Salman Hashmikov died last year, and it was a deal cause he was also accomplished outside of pro wrestling as well.
odessasteps Posted March 21 Posted March 21 That explains Mrs JC posting a picture of them Dennis and Bobby.
Elsalvajeloco Posted March 21 Posted March 21 Someone posted a clip from Georgia where it's Stan Lane tagging with Condrey, which reminds you that you get several iterations of future and former members of the Midnights tagging with each throughout history. There was a point where Stan Lane was STANLEY LANE. That sounds like a commercial down here where the Law Offices of DENNIS CONDREY & STANLEY LANE helps you get unpaid settlement money for some defective trailer hitch you got sold. 3 1

So, he could have always used Stan Fields as an alias Both MX versions are strong contenders for "Best Tag Team which had both members using their real names"
odessasteps Posted March 21 Posted March 21 Randy Rose is only one to use a gimmick name. Even Norvell used his real name.
Curt McGirt Posted March 22 Posted March 22 When the hell did Paul Heyman have any interactions with fuckin' Ray Stevens?!
Cobra Commander Posted March 22 Posted March 22 (edited) yeah there are OMX matches against Stevens in the AWA how about this match from The McHenry County College Gym: Jerry Blackwell, Ray Stevens & Wahoo McDaniel defeat Soldat Ustinov & The Original Midnight Express (Dennis Condrey & Randy Rose) like which guy was the most physically pickled in 1987 between Blackwell, Stevens, and Wahoo? i'm not gonna talk myself up too much about what the Vault will do, but I'll note that there was a Fantastics vs Original MX 2/3 falls match from 12/31/88 Worldwide that goes over 30 minutes, and an MX vs Orig MX match from Main Event that aired after the Starrcade 88 match. Both are online (in full show form) but if there's a version that isn't 20th generation VQ If there was an ending to the angle that didn't involve Dennis going home, then an "MX vs Original MX" story video would be a fun time Edited March 22 by Cobra Commander 1
SovietShooter Posted March 22 Posted March 22 I always liked the Bobby/Stan version of the Midnights better than Bobby/Dennis. As an adult I think I am able to fully appreciate what Condrey brought to the table, and I think the Condrey version drew more heat. Condrey just had a look that exuded that he was an underhanded cheating piece of shit. Rewatching old Saturday Night episodes, Condrey loved getting rough with the enhancement talent. He treats them with the same contempt as guys like Tully and Ole. 2
