She specifically requested the clause, because she saw that every woamn ever put into a hosting role was replaced by a younger woman and kicked to the curb. She tried to play by the "rules," except ESPN doesn't actually care about those "rules." Jay Glazer pretty much made a coaching retreat for him to hang out and drink with a bunch of NFL coaches, so Russini threw a similar event at the same resort. Vrabel was one of the four coaches who attended her event instead of Glazer's. There are levels to the ethical violation, but literally no one cares about Glazer doing this. No one cares that Schefter seems to be very close friends with Sean Payton. All of these things are against all the journalism rules that have been in place for decades, and none of this would happen if we didn't ignore those ethics. We remove the guardrails and then act like we're surprised when people drive off cliffs. The rails were there for a reason. Understand, this is not an excuse for Russini and Vrabel betraying their families, but this is the exact type of thing that happens when guardrails are removed. I remember being told as a journalism student that you could be fired for accepting a cup of coffee from someone you were covering, but now you can throw rival coaching retreats. 3
zendragon Posted April 24 Posted April 24 What adults do with their personal lives is none of my business, but the whole reporting reminds me of the Peter Gammon's bit in Moneyball which illustrates just how much horse trading goes on in sports reporting. 1
odessasteps Posted April 24 Posted April 24 Yeah, the journalism in which was trained for in the 90s doesn’t seem like the same thing in the modern world. We barely had the internet then and made the paper each day the old fashioned paste-up way. 1
Cobra Commander Posted April 24 Posted April 24 a certain amount of the reporters in the Patriots vicinity who are downplaying the story feel like they're doing a favor to the org so they can keep their shit together

RIPPA Posted April 29 Posted April 29 While this technically about NFL Draft coverage - I am putting it here because it fits better Joe Klatt said he most likely has worked his last NFL Draft He said that because ESPN now controls the NFL Network, he is under the impression that FOX Sports will no longer allow him to work the Draft Speculation is that CBS will also make the same decision regarding Charles Davis and instead you will get more appearances from the likes of Kyle Brandt, et al
hammerva Posted May 1 Posted May 1 In more proof that Shilo Sanders is basically Deion with about 20% of the talent and smarts, the Bucs have an issue when Shilo tweeted out to Cleveland report Mary Kay Cabot to "Go make a sandwich Mary" . I am guessing that she was one of the many who are wondering what the hell is going on with the Browns QB situation.

He said that when she reported that noted model citizen Deshaun Watson had gained the lead in the QB depth chart over his brother. Also, it probably means she's exactly right. And that Deion was full of shit when he said he was raising "men of character."

Shilo has shown that he's probably a dickhead, but he's also a phenomenal little brother. I don't even have a brother, but I can't even imagine what I would say to someone who insinuated that DeShaun Watson was better than my brother at anything.

Pete Posted May 5 Posted May 5 The other amazing Sterling call. Ray Knight's "WHY GOD WHY" take at 3B as Camp goes yard at 3 am still kills me to this day. 5

Man, I still remember watching that game live on TBS. It got started an hour and a half late because of a rain delay, too. After Camp hit the home run, they had to send him back out there for the top of the 19th and the Mets put up 5 more runs. Then the Braves scored two more and Camp wound up striking out with two runners on base to end it. 1

The funniest thing is that when the game ended at like 4 in the morning they said "fuck it" and did the post-game fireworks and people living in the area thought the city was under attack. 2
Dolfan in NYC Posted May 27 Author Posted May 27 You just know Brady is so mad he can't see straight.
Tabe Posted May 27 Posted May 27 They made the right call with the Emmy. Brady is good but Olsen is better. 1
hammerva Posted May 28 Posted May 28 So is the Screamin A Smith vs Nick Wright feud the best sports 2026 example of the "the two worst people in the world are fighting" meme 1
