odessasteps Posted January 24 Posted January 24 Is the inside the NBA stuff being discussed in the basketball thread? If not, Charles is not happy with the mouse’s running of the show.
RIPPA Posted January 26 Posted January 26 For all accounts - it appears that the Washington Post is about to gut their entire sports section First was pulling everyone’s credentials for the Olympics and now they are telling their Nationals reporters to not book travel for spring training
Zimbra Posted January 30 Posted January 30 We need a complete and total shutdown of sports media graphics until people learn to act right (this is a real thing that yahoo posted, apparently on purpose) 1
RIPPA Posted February 4 Posted February 4 The long rumored closing of the Washington Post sports section has happened this morning Management's brilliant new idea is to treat sports as a "cultural phenomenon". They are retaining some staff just so they can write features about it Related - they did end up sending some media to cover the Olympics. Basically a few reporters where given the choice to still go knowing that they wouldn't have a job when they got back
hammerva Posted February 4 Posted February 4 I think some people saw the writing on the wall concerning the Washington Post when the issue with the Georgetown coach chucked a water bottle and hit a woman and kid. Not only was there no reporter from the Post at that game (because they were limited in teams to cover at once), the only mention of the game the next day was an AI generated recap of the game. Eventually the Post talked about it but it was already out of the mainstream talk
supremebve Posted February 6 Posted February 6 Next year, we need to also commemorate the 1997 Tyra Banks issue. I've been saying this for about 20 years now, but she looked so good on that cover that we've disregarded the fact that she's completely and totally bereft of talent ever since. The last I heard, she filed for bankruptcy for a brand of hot ice cream. Do you know how good you had to look in 1997 for someone to hear you say "hot ice cream" and then give you money to open a business? 1

RIPPA Posted February 19 Posted February 19 ESPN is going to replace Sunday Night Baseball with "Women's Sports Sundays" and feature WNBA and NWSL games Of course there has to be a WNBA season for this to happen but you won't find that in the media release
RIPPA Posted February 19 Posted February 19 In news I don't think anyone from Baltimore is going to complain about - Jason La Canfora has apparently been fired from his evening drive shift at Baltimore's 105.7 The Fan Per La Canfora - all he was told was that the station was "going in a different direction"
odessasteps Posted February 19 Posted February 19 That one had passed me by, as I still think of his as the WAPO hockey beat writer.
Raziel Posted February 20 Posted February 20 And thats still more expensive than the entire MLB.tv package if ypu have ESPN Unlimited. Fuxking NY
Dolfan in NYC Posted February 23 Author Posted February 23 Nothing encapsulates the state of Sports Radio than the longtime Yankees announcer telling his audience that he nearly died, with co-host named after the husband in I Love Lucy.
