I understand why Nintendo stopped making mini versions of their past consoles with a bunch of ROMs loaded onto them, but boy, do I wish we'd have gotten a mini-line GB/GBC with color toggle and a Virtual Boy (though those would have probably been the same exact size as the originals).

It's very dumb that I bought a hundred-dollar shell that will be a nice decoration piece on my shelf next to the Jeremy Parrish Virtual Boy book if and when the VB NSO app becomes available.

Even so, if VB Mario Land exists and gets released, that would have been enough for me to jump in on this too. Honestly, I think D-Hopper would have been enough to get me to jump in because I remember being excited for a Zelda-like on Virtual Boy and was sad when it never saw the light of day.

a "mini" VB would definitely get me to pick one up, but including VB Mario Land would be the icing on the cake. And if they could equip it with a headband or something so you could actually play it from the couch, rather than hunched over in front of a desk or table? TAKE MY MONEY!

and stop tempting me with the VB shell. i've already had to talk myself out of it a few times.

Yeah, a VB headset pre-loaded with games and with a Quest-style head strap would be ideal.

But what if I talked you into it instead?

Seriously though, it's a useless piece of plastic if you aren't subbing to the NSO Expansion Pak, and they're probably raising subscription prices soon, so maybe it's not the best purchase right now.

(Did that help?)

yes.....at least until that VB Mario Land game gets confirmed.

Rolled credits on RE: Requiem.  About 10 hours IGT to complete, and it was really good.  Nice combination of the good parts of playing RE7 with the good parts of RE4R.  Story was a neat tying up of loose ends from the Racoon City Trilogy while setting the table for the next couple games (if it continues).  At least 1 DLC is pretty obivious and I'm not mad at it.  All in all a good game and I'm going to end up replaying it a couple times at least.  If nothing else but to see the "bad" ending (guessed and got the Good Ending, although it's pretty obivous what you need to do).

My only real complaint is that it takes almost half the game to get to the first Boss encounter, and then they come regularly until the end.

The lack of save points before the finale made the final boss way harder than I think it needed to be.

And… Highguard is shutting down on March 12

It lasted a month longer than Concord did

We're gonna have to start using the head of lettuce metric for these games

I have realized that Marathon is gonna be a game a watch a lot of but don't actually play

A product of all the Destiny streamers playing it instead of, ya know, actually Destiny

Posted

Marathon's PC launch numbers aren't bad but they aren't great either. Like they don't even come close to ARC Raiders, launch or currently. Again, I'm going to assume this'll be a game that lives and dies by the console playerbase. Maybe it's way better on PS5 and Xbox. Maybe it rises as we head into the weekend. But people thought that would be the case for the server slam last week too, and Thursday was the peak and they steadily lost players (again, on PC).

There are more people watching Marathon on Twitch than there are PC players currently active. Disgustingly, a sizeable chunk of that viewership is Asmongold playing the game, so, uhhhh, there's that.

Xbox has been tinkering with game pass rewards again without telling anyone.  They halved the daily rewards, admittedly only making it 5 instead of 10 points, but again, the principle.

I like Marathon, there, I said it. Am I ever going to turn on crossplay and be in lobbies with PC players? Absolutely not. I'll suffer through 2 minute wait times for a trios team, I don't care.

I played some Mario's Tennis for the first time in years. That game has really good music. It's probably the least substantial Mario's Tennis game, but it has good music.

I genuinely enjoy Mario Clash, on the other hand. That's a legitimately good game all the way around.

Finished The Outer Worlds

It was... fine

But boy I don't remember the last time I played an RPG where I really had no interest in switching out my crew. There were basically two likeable people.

I doubt I will play the sequel

There are some things that are better and some that aren’t. But I’d say play it since it’s on Game Pass, unless you have something more pressing to play. (Don’t know if you are getting MLB this year)

Personally, I found pretty much all the crew members in Outer Worlds awesome. Not necessarily good people, mind, but interesting characters every one. My biggest complaint about Outer Worlds 2 is probably that the crew members just aren't as cool. (Though I haven't finished Two yet, so take that judgement as still pending.)

Which two did you find likable? Parvati and who else?

Nyoka

(Ellie was a tolerable third - everyone else stay on the ship except for their "loyalty" missions)

My crew was pretty exclusively Ellie & Parvati. Sometimes I'd take specific people out for quests if I thought it would make sense for the story or whatever, or if I was doing their loyalty missions obviously. I'm pretty sure SAM is still bugged out, at least on PS5, so I never really used him.

Yeah I’m kicking myself for taking Vicar Max with me on the last mission because I thought he would have lots of extra dialogue

I was wrong

I usually rotated between Pavarti, Ellie and Nyoka myself unless there was a skill check I needed to get around (but I think they covered most of them) and the loyal missions of course. I do remember the kid getting snippy with my about one of my choices and I basically told him to shut up or get off the ship and he walked away but was still on the ship.

Switch 2 just got a "Handheld Boost" mode added, which is:

Quote

This mode allows the Switch 2 to run original Switch games in handheld mode as if they were docked in TV mode, increasing resolution and performance.

But some games with touch controls and whatnot won't see the benefits of this (like Let's Go Pikachu or Skyward Sword).

From today's Pinball Bites:

--next Williams tables, out 4/30, are Diner, Comet and Fire!. First ever digital conversion for the latter two.

--PS4/XBONE will be ending support in terms of new stuff (the current season of weekly challenges will be the last, and no new tables are coming) but the servers aren't going down anytime soon.

--PinballFX3 will be delisted soon. For all platforms except Xbox, you'll still be able to buy new tables from within the app but they'll all be removed from the store.

--World Cup Soccer is being delisted, as it costs a lot more money to extend that license in a year with a men's World Cup.

--Product names are being unified, with everything still using "Zen Pinball" getting rebranded to a variant of PFX and PinballM becoming PFX Midnight.

Steam's spring sale is on, and I picked up Divinity: Original Sin (Enhanced Edition) for cheap. Interesting that you actually play as two separate people. It's very pretty but the camera is occasionally annoying as hell (haven't figured out why it randomly stop following you).
