I learned it's best to just use the right stick for camera movement and not bother with left.  Helped keep me on the trajectory more than when I tried to move around.

I also know I will not 100% this game because I am assuming there is a trophy for completing all the Mysterium things on Gold and that ain't fucking happening

They aren’t my favorite but I prefer them to the timed races from the first one.

Finally played the Spider-man 2 mission that was show at... some not E3 event

Interesting to look back and realize how far into the story it actually was

Rolled credits on Spider-man 2. A thoroughly satisfying experience that actually stuck the landing with the ending. Whoever designed the swinging in this game deserves a statue.

I guess now I should go back to finish the first game and Miles Morales

1. I am not dead.

2. I've been playing a shitload of Helldivers 2 lately.

Shoot me your Friend Code if you are killing stuff in the name of managed democracy.

I liked it, don’t get me wrong, but I guess I feel some type of way about that game since I bought it Day 1, all of the DLC got cancelled, and it only took like 30ish hours to beat the game + get the platinum trophy.

I'm fine with this.  It didn't overstay it's welcome like so many open-world games.

I bogged down in Spidey 2 on the second MJ mission (the one where you infiltrate Kraven's lair) and gave up on it when Infinite Wealth dropped (and then i got bogged down in THAT and need to go beat the three old men and put it to bed someday soon.) People talking about it on here and my trip to Manhattan got me to download it again and start a new save. I'm barely into it (just did the first Flame mission and unlocked Prowler stashes), hoping this time i can get more than a third of the way in.

I only just unlocked Peter Parker's other abilities 🤣

I spent far too long doing all the random side quest stuff

I just unlocked the thing where you have to follow the drone with web wings and let me tell you - I HATE that

Oh man, I just replayed all 3 Spider Man games in order.  The ability to skip puzzles, especially the “follow drone” ones, saved my sanity.

And also a big fuck you to skill trees.  Especially in a situation like this where it makes zero sense.  By the first game, he’d been Spider Man for five years.  Oh Lordy do I despise skill trees.

Also, was Kraven’s portrayal in SM2 a clever commentary on those rich trophy hunter types who pay big money just to be shown an animal and handed a gun?  Because that dude didn’t hunt shit.  He had a whole team to put his entire “hunt” totally in his favor.  The one time he faced an enemy without the odds in his favor, he was killed.  Fucking dork.

Well the body count certainly went up in this game

RIP to Yoshihisa Kishimoto, whose tenure at Technos gave us Kunio's world, Double Dragon and (likely most important to this crowd) the two most beloved WWF arcade games of all time.

I got my first win in Slay the Spire 2 with a good old fashioned shiv/envenom Silent deck.  The game is unsurprisingly great but feels like a fairly large difficulty spike from the last one.

I also got Raccoin, which is "Balatro but a coin-pusher" and it's pretty stupid and fun.

WrestleFest is one of the G.O.A.T.s. Only thing Superstars (also great) has over it is the roster.

Listen, I loved Wrestlefest as a kid, but Double Dragon was by far my favorite of Kishimoto's games.  I absolutely loved that game.

Double Dragon's great! I certainly wasn't comparing it to WrestleFest. I was comparing WrestleFest to other wrestling games (including Technos's Superstars).

As an aside, Technos games have some of my favorite sprite work around, thinking more about it.

Meanwhile, I'll twke the other position and talk up Kunio/River City. Super Dodge Ball Arcade was kind of obnoxious, but we got the NES version from the Kay-Bee $15 NES bin and I fell in love. Then a friend brought over River City Ransom (from a different publisher in the US) and I immediately recognized the characters. I remember magazines talking about "River City Ransom 2" on SNES and explaining the shared universe, and then when NES emulation hit I went back and tried all the weird-ass sports games and got in deep. Arc Sys have mostly shepherded the series well post-revival (if only we had gotten the remake of the first arcade game which only ever came out as Renegade, since Tokyo Rumble is a direct sequel.) Kind of hilarious that the River City name got attached to the whole series just as they started acknowledging that this is taking place in Japan, not the US

I think I like River City Ransom more than Double Dragon, myself. As a little kid, the less linear approach to the game (and the fact that you could enter some of the shops!) really impressed me.

I assume you're familiar with the fan-made version of Double Dragon where you can play as various sprites from Superstars?

Double Dragon is actually pretty easy if you can play as Andre. AS IT SHOULD BE.

Can you imagine how nutty Vince would have gone if he could actually book Abobo in the 1980s?

I really need to fire up MAME again. That would also give me an excuse to play some Cyberball, an arcade game that I wish would get re-released on PS5 or Switch 2 immediately so that I could purchase it.

It breaks my damn heart how stingy WB is with their classics library. The last time we got any kind of a decent retro pack out of them it was an expansion to LEGO Dimensions. Fuck, cut a deal with Hamster and charge me $8 to get an Arcade Archives 2 version of Joust or Cyberball or frigging Escape From the Planet of the Robot Monsters with online play. I'd RATHER have a PS2-style big bundle but Hamster and their various Japanese partners have spent a decade proving that if you do it right the old men will pay a surprisingly high price a la carte.

I honestly didn't realize River City Ransom was made by the same person as Double Dragon.  River City Ransom was my favorite of the beat em ups.  I had a friend give me all of his old NES games when he got a Sega Genesis and River City Ransom was one of the games he gave me.  I played the hell out of that game.
