Dolfan in NYC Posted December 31, 2025 Posted December 31, 2025 No more champagne, and the fireworks are through... Here we are, me and you, feeling lost and feeling blue... So for the 2nd year in a row, we end the year with a brand new champion! (as soon as I saw Hangman & Swerve were working together last week, I knew... ) It's the end of the party... And the morning seems so grey. So unlike yesterday, now's the time for us to say... But not only a new World Champ, but a new Continental Champion! (Okay, I know this thought is verbotten because AEW... but it would have been fuckin *hilarious* if at the end of this, Claudio would have instantly choked him out with a plastic bag) Happy New Year, Happy New Year, may we all have a vision now and then of a world where every neighbour is a friend... What's on tap for this week? I'm glad you asked! I have no idea who that is in the first picture. Maybe Max needs to talk to him to get his belt back. (Swedish people may be the most bi-polar people on earth.) Happy new year! 2
NikoBaltimore Posted December 31, 2025 Posted December 31, 2025 Going to my Mom's for NYE I'm pondering how things would go if I play this at their house. A bunch of Greeks (some young, mostly old) trying to figure out WTF they're watching might have some unintentional comedy. Then again if the beer and Ouzo hits just right they might like it! Either way I'm sure it's better than watching whatever movie is playing leading up to NYE shenanigans. 3 1

RazorbladeKiss87 Posted December 31, 2025 Posted December 31, 2025 Willow/Mercedes is going to rock. I just might stay awake for this. Ricochet and Jungle Boy could be bonkers, depending on how they work it, and I'm not even a fan of Perry like that. Happy New Year, everyone. Be safe tonight! 2
HarryArchieGus Posted December 31, 2025 Posted December 31, 2025 Josh Alexander v Moxley has been added - that's a darkhorse rager. Mercedes-Willow should be excellent - I'd love a title switch (and a subsequent tag title switch). Jack Perry looked really good in that throwaway Zero Hour 8 man. And he looked good in the C2. He seems like a natural heel, but in ring he's so naturally better as a babyface. I can't stand Ricochet having GOA at ringside for every match, but let's hope for an early ejection. Jake Friedman promoing will no doubt render a few opinions in the post thread. Looking forward to an inebriated late night tape delay viewing. Happy new year to all you goddamn sickos!
ExcellenceofAirPollution Posted December 31, 2025 Posted December 31, 2025 For the first time in my life I kinda wish I lived in Omaha, NE. This has gotta be the most happening NYE since the '72 tractor pull 1 3
Nice Guy Eddie Posted December 31, 2025 Posted December 31, 2025 I might just stay in tonight and watch Dynamite instead of going out. Besides, I've got work tomorrow anyway, so it's not like I can go out and get bombed. I can, but it wouldn't be a great idea. 2
Cobra Commander Posted December 31, 2025 Posted December 31, 2025 hopefully at least one of the AEW heels notices the Huskers getting pounded in a bowl game shortly before their show in Omaha 1
Cobra Commander Posted January 1 Posted January 1 Assorted items that I remember from tonight's episode of Dynamite before I go off to watch Stranger Things: MJF now feuding with at least 4 or 5 different people. Also he did the new belt thing again. Bandido and Mortos putting on a good time. Multiple backstage appearances for Bandido. Lots of bald on bald violence in the Moxley match. Roddy getting to hang out with his wife. Ricochet's group beating the fuck out of the Dinosaur as Jungle Jack can't do anything about it. Willow beats Mone, history made in the Suburban Omaha Civic Center. 2
Niners Fan in CT Posted January 1 Posted January 1 What a fucking match to end the year. Willow was the one who I thought might beat Mercedes a while back but as time went on I wasn't sure. Willow becomes the first double champion in AEW history. Mercedes reign as longest TBS champion comes to an end and she was legit the Wrestler of the Year from beginning to the very end. 2
Casey Posted January 1 Posted January 1 unpopular statements inbound: 2025 will be remembered as the year TK became obsessed with making various people double champions. I just don’t get what this accomplished. Willow didn’t need that. She’s already one of the few people to have beaten Mercedes already. Has already held the TBS title, was currently a champion before this match. Good for Willow, I love her, but I’ve always felt it should be someone that needs the rub and that isn’t Willow. You could have her win the Women’s World title tomorrow and it would be justified. 4
Niners Fan in CT Posted January 1 Posted January 1 Yeah I do disagree because the tag titles are new and it's simply not the same as a big singles win over your arch rival and someone who had been on a roll like Mercedes. The win over Mercedes probably didn't do too much for Toni Storm but it was the right choice. Statlander and Willow getting their wins back on Mercedes solidifies their status as made women in the company. I don't think there's anyone else who could have been made right now in that spot. Maybe Athena. Hard disagree on anyone who says Harley Cameron. She's just not that good in the ring. She's over and she's awesome but to be TBS champion you should probably be able to go 15-20 minutes a night in a wrestling wrestling company. Harley being in a tag team protects her. 6

Casey Posted January 1 Posted January 1 We’ll agree to disagree, it’s fine. Wouldn’t be an unpopular statement if everyone agreed with it, which I knew hardly anyone would. 1

I thought of you with our talk a few days before for who should end Mercedes Mone TBS Championship reign: 1
Matt D Posted January 1 Posted January 1 There’s a world where they built this over six months in a Dump vs Chigusa way with Willow getting bullied and it would have meant a lot more. It’s more a cherry on top now than a real meal. 1
Cobra Commander Posted January 1 Posted January 1 take your pick on what's preferable between "lots of titles and each is held by a different wrestler" and "some wrestlers hold singles and tag titles at the same time" because there's certainly people who criticize the former 2020s wrestling promotions kinda book all tag team wrestling (male or female) like it's doubles tennis happening in the background of the singles action, so yeah I could see women's tag team titles having some rough spots for being booked as meaning something but I suspect there has to be a slight Mercedes lull of losing various things before she wins the big title in a few months 2
DreamBroken Posted January 1 Posted January 1 Toni/Mercedes was my moty 6 months ago. the booking of the aew women's division since is my most hated thing in wrestling now. Quickly killing anything special about beating Mercedes anymore. Obviously she has to lose her titles, but this was a been there done that waste. As just a Mercedes fan, this is deflating as hell. 1
The Green Meanie Posted January 1 Posted January 1 25 minutes ago, DreamBroken said: As just a Mercedes fan, this is deflating as hell. As a non-fan, this was way overdue. Also, a TON of folks are overlooking the fact that it appeared that Willow and Stat finally made amends. That was a huge part of the story. And it was amusing to see how happy Speedball was! What a great dude. 2
AxB Posted January 1 Posted January 1 I like where they're taking the Moxley angle. When you consider Orange Cassidy's epic International Championship run, where he accumulated damage in every match, and was physically destroyed by the end of his title run, it was Moxley who ended that run and took the belt off him. And then a year ago, Moxley wins the World title and starts retaining it thanks to Death Rider interference every time, and only loses it because enough credible threats are prepared to unite to stop the Death Riders and let Hangman beat him one on one. And then Moxley enters the CC, where he can't have anyone at ringside... and wins the belt, but hurts his leg in the process. So now he has to wrestle under CC rules for as long as he's champion, but he was hurt when he won the belt, and got more hurt in the Josh Alexander match (which wasn't even a title defence, just an eliminator). And the first thing they announce for next week is another title eliminator, this time with Shelton Benjamin. So his reign as Continental Champion is seemingly already going the same way as Cassidy's run as International Champion... perhaps Orange will be the man to eventually dethrone him. Also, that Willow vs Mercedes match was incredible. It started out great, and then rapidly ascended to being awesome in the closing moments. It was funny, it started with ten minutes left in the show and Jen in the Discord was upset that it was going to be such a short match, but then the five minute overrun happened and the match went the perfect distance, for what it was. I have to say, this show was top to bottom the best wrestling show I've watched all year long. Spoiler It ended 3 hours and a few minutes after midnight on January 1st. It's the only show I've watched top to bottom all year long. I did watch Hoodfoot vs John Wayne Murdoch (c) for the ICW NHB American Deathmatch World Title after midnight, but that was only one match. It was really good. NHB 84, from Red Bank, Tennessee. 4
The Natural Posted January 1 Posted January 1 (edited) Mercedes Mone's AEW TBS Championship reign comes to an end with 584 days with 25 total defenses against 23 different women including 9 defenses on a PPV. Thank you, Mercedes Mone. Edited January 1 by The Natural 3
Steventon Posted January 1 Posted January 1 Holy fuck, Mone vs Willow was so great. What a match to end the year on and a great payoff to the journeys of both women this year. Could they have made it mean more? yes, but the amount of times we've seen big plans get made and something go awry, I'll take these moments where we get them. 5
AxB Posted January 1 Posted January 1 Doing a title change, especially a pretty monumental one that ends a 'longest title reign ever' run on a regular TV after a PPV, that's a bold move. Especially on a show on NYE, when you would expect a lot of regular viewers to not be watching live. Really helps the whole 'Anything can happen'-ness of it all. 5
Technico Support Posted January 1 Posted January 1 13 hours ago, Niners Fan in CT said: Willow becomes the first double champion in AEW history. Joe was a trios champion when he won the men’s world title from Hangman. Easy to forget, since it’s the trios title.
Jamal Posted January 1 Posted January 1 I really enjoyed Mone/Willow. I went in expecting a great match but a Willow loss. I mean, it's a Dynamite on NYE. Plus, Willow already just made history as one half of the first ever AEW Women's Tag Champions. But, as the match went on, I kept thinking "wait. I think my girl has a chance". lol And once she finally hit that power bomb, I knew it was a done deal. Just great stuff from both women. Can't think of a wrestler more deserving of this moment than Willow. And I'm curious to see where Mercedes goes now. 1
