Curt McGirt Posted January 21 Posted January 21 Nick Nolte in the Jon Voight role from Heat looks pretty perfect.

odessasteps Posted January 22 Posted January 22 My brain can’t process Idris Elba being in the He Man movie. It is and isn’t the same as being in a Marvel movie. 2
Curt McGirt Posted January 22 Posted January 22 (edited) I didn't see the post-credits sequence in Masters until I saw it on TV as a kid by accident -- and I saw it in the theater when it came out! I was seven. It was my first movie in the theater. (Coincidentally having a subplot about somebody's parents dying in a plane crash was not on my dad's radar ) Edited January 22 by Curt McGirt 1
RIPPA Posted January 22 Posted January 22 Boy does that reek of he only becomes He-Man for the last 5 minutes of the movie 1

Frank Langella was awesome as Skeletor. Such a great underrated score by Bill Conti of Rocky (1976) fame. Edited January 22 by The Natural 2
The Natural Posted January 22 Posted January 22 Post credit scene needs to be He-Man sharing an important lesson about today's adventure with us. 7
jaedmc Posted January 22 Posted January 22 I have become so goddamn wary of anything that Hollywood has produced that is related to any IP that I care about. I don't want to say cynical, but that's probably the right word as much as I try to fight it. But I got fucking tingles watching that Masters of the Universe Trailer. IT LOOKS LIKE A CARTOON COME TO LIFE. THEY LOOK LIKE THE CHARACTERS. SWORDS N SPACE SHIPS. IDRIS ELBA IS FUCKING MAN-AT-ARMS BRO. FUCKING MAN-AT-ARMS. MY CAPS KEY WILL REMAIN PRESSED IN. ADAM SOUNDS LIKE A TOTAL WUSS AS ADAM AND LOOKS FUCKING BAD ASS AS HE-MAN. PINK SHIRT HE'S WEARING A PINK SHIRT LIKE THE SHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW. 1 6
jaedmc Posted January 22 Posted January 22 And then I looked up who plays the voice of Skeletor and I'm back on earth. 5 1
Curt McGirt Posted January 22 Posted January 22 HA! So the guy at the hospital was right! To explain, I went to a meeting with one of my doctors at a local clinic today and had my blood pressure taken, the nurse said the Masters trailer came out and was it true about Spoiler Jared Leto playing Skeletor? I said I didn't know but that was the first film I saw in a theater yadda yadda. I have no clue why he thought this was a proper bit of small talk. Maybe it's because I was wearing a Judas Priest shirt?
Casey Posted January 23 Posted January 23 One guess as to what scene the right wing grifters are upset about in that trailer. Spoiler It's the nameplate that says He/Him 2
jaedmc Posted January 23 Posted January 23 They could've easily interpreted the shot of his name plate as another example of how miserable work place culture is in the modern world. Or even looked at it as a subversion of compelled pronoun declarations by a character that calls himself HE-MAN. ADAM is HE. ADAM is HIM. ADAM is (the)MAN. The whole trailer was "Tired of this shit world, and all these rules that emasculate you? Want to go to Eternia where you can fight skeletons with your shirt off? Reclaim your sword! YOU HAVE THE POWERRRR." But no, rage peddlers aren't very creative. Though I do like the idea that Idris Elba looked so dope as Mad-At-Arms that no one could get mad at it. Perhaps there are some things that can transcend the culture war divide. 3
Travis Sheldon Posted January 23 Posted January 23 I'm guessing there's a reason why Skeletor's voice is not heard in the trailer.

Curt McGirt Posted January 26 Posted January 26 Quote Robert Eggers’ ‘WERWULF’ has wrapped filming. Starring Lily-Rose Depp, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Willem Dafoe & Ralph Ineson • A werewolf horror set in 13th century England with period-accurate dialogue. • Described as the darkest film he’s ever written ‘by far’ • In theatres this Christmas. So... the same cast, too. What should the next one be? Personally, I'd like to see a Creature from the Black Lagoon set in Lake Geneva in the 1700s or something.

Curt McGirt Posted January 26 Posted January 26 From Bloody Disgusting: Quote Before tackling Spider-Man and Doctor Strange, Sam Raimi made his first foray into the world of superheroes with Darkman. The 1990 cult classic spawned spawned two direct-to-video sequels — 1995’s Darkman II: The Return of Durant and 1996’s Darkman III: Die Darkman Die — without Raimi’s involvement, but the filmmaker is currently developing a new follow-up. “Ghost House Pictures, the company I work with, is trying to make the sequel right now,” Raimi tells MovieWeb. “We’ve got a screenplay and two great directors, but we’re still having a little difficulty with the financing. It’s always the same in the movie business.” 1 1
