Dolfan in NYC Posted December 9, 2025 Posted December 9, 2025 Bah Humbug, now that's too strong! 'Cause it is my favorite holiday, but all this year's been a busy blur.... Last week... we got the promo of the year? Like, I believe he has zero shot at actually becoming champ, but... like, maybe? Calendar picture, frozen landscape, chill this room for twenty-four days... Evergreens, sparkling snow... Get this winter over with! While all that is going on... RJ City is trying his hand at producing? I do wonder how close that is to what Hunter is actually like. Merry Christmas, merry Christmas, but I think I'll miss this one this year... Merry Christmas, merry Christmas, but I think I'll miss this one this year! This week... WINTER IS COMING~... on Wednesday AND Saturday! (Quick grab a towel!) (Tony I know you're here... Wednesday is my 50th birthday. Gimme tickets or a shock title change pls. k thx bi) (Gotta love a song you can re-visit as an adult and totally go... OHHH. ) Enjoy the week! 6
NikoBaltimore Posted December 9, 2025 Posted December 9, 2025 Minor confession time. They played this song a lot while I was working at a drug store and I thought it as neat but just played too much. That at and I thought it was Debbie Harry because I didn't know better or care to look it up. I rightly got fired due to my attitude and years pass on. Next time I hear that song I fucking love it and it's now one I seek out every year. What's the point of all this? Fuck if I know, but I'll go with hearing songs at a drug store is not great and it's much better listening when not working there. Oh, this song is a good one. ANYWAY, I would be beyond thrilled if we get an early Christmas gift with Eddie winning. If not then I hope they run it back at a PPV where he does win. But if they pull it off tonight... 3
Log Posted December 9, 2025 Posted December 9, 2025 My daughter was trying to learn the bass part for Christmas Wrapping. Apparently, it's pretty damn tough. 3

Go2Sleep Posted December 10, 2025 Posted December 10, 2025 It wouldn't be very AEW-like for Eddie to win here, but I still think there's a nonzero chance just because that makes a lot more sense to set up an MJF cash-in, which is still in our future. 1
Technico Support Posted December 10, 2025 Posted December 10, 2025 MJF can’t cash in like Money in the Bank anymore, though. He has to give at least a week’s notice. Which is really great because the MitB cash-in concept has been stupid except for the first time. 2
Log Posted December 10, 2025 Posted December 10, 2025 While my rational brain doesn't see Eddie winning tonight, it's the first time in a while that I've been excited to watch a wrestling match just purely based on rooting interests. I guess the Hangman/Mox match for the title was one I had my hopes set on one guy winning, but it's rare that I feel like that. Mostly, it's, "Oh, this should be a fun match" not "I really hope [wrestler] pulls this one out!" 4 1
AxB Posted December 10, 2025 Posted December 10, 2025 Considering the Dynamite Diamond battle royal is next week, MJF is probably coming back to telly pretty soon anyway. Eddie winning the title, getting destroyed by The Opps post-match, and MJF immediately returning and saying "Your first defence is me", that's a scenario I can see happening. Especially if MJF wins the title, and Joe immediately goes after winning it back, because MJF didn't dare cash in on him.

I think there is a very strong chance we get a Kingston victory, but not a title change. Not sure exactly what that would be that isn't a fuck finish, but I think we will get a visual of Eddie defeating Joe, and it not counting. 1

Plus if MJF wins the Diamond Ring then he not only has a title shot based off of that but he contract is still in his back pocket should he lose that. Would seem like a suitable MJF move. Also, side note what is the point of the Diamond Ring anymore? Every year MJF finds some way to win it and the whole thing feels kind of pointless. I'd rather find something else to have at stake than just that as it's just stale and predictable anymore. Only way it means something now is if he loses and starts to lose his shit.
Dolfan in NYC Posted December 10, 2025 Author Posted December 10, 2025 Well, well, it appears we (basically) are SOLD OUT~ tonight 4

MJF dog whistle is my guess? There's never been any other use for it so it must just be TK's version of "look who won the pony?!" I used to be annoyed by it, but at this point it's too silly not to laugh at in some way. Also, if Eddie wins tonight I'll cry real tears as a 36 year old man. 6
Zimbra Posted December 10, 2025 Posted December 10, 2025 Dean would be proud of WEEPING MANLY TEARS for the professional wrestling 10 1

ExcellenceofAirPollution Posted December 10, 2025 Posted December 10, 2025 I've been thinking an Eddie win to transition to MJF was a possibility since they announced the match. I don't think it will happen, but a beloved underdog won the world title in December 27 years ago and Tony Schiavone told us sarcastically that it would put asses in seats. They have an amazing opportunity to go full circle (in a way) on that moment here 2

BUUUUUUT on the chance they are... The place is sold out for a damn good reason. They want to see the title change enough to want to be there live to see it. If you planned on saving the title win for a PPV I'd pivot and have it happen tonight. There's plenty of ways to get it back to however you want it setup. The fun part is trying to keep myself from being so certain it'll happen and what I'll be doing. I'm trying to adjust expectations accordingly but damnit if there's ever a time to wish something this is it. 4
Log Posted December 10, 2025 Posted December 10, 2025 Kingston just getting a regular gig with a televised national promotion is one of my favorite things to ever happen in wrestling. So, him winning a world title would blow my mind. 6

And people over in the general wrestling thread were just talking about how nobody has any patience any more... Every time MJF wins it just makes it a bigger deal when he eventually loses it. In theory, anyway. Also, have they said the winner of the ring gets a title shot this year? I don't believe that's been the case any previous year.

That's me! But, is argue that they need to have it go for a few years with different winners, before then having someone go on a streak where it becomes their schtick. They're treating it like the Undertaker Streak™, but since no one else has ever won it, it comes off as a hokey "MJF Invitational Battle Royal" gimmick. But, you're right, when someone asides from MJF does win it, it should be a big deal, because it is shift of the norm.
stuntmanc Posted December 10, 2025 Posted December 10, 2025 (edited) While this definitely doesn't have the same level of build-up, the last time I truly wanted someone to win the title on a level like when I was younger watching wrestling was the Sami/Roman match. I have that sort of feeling about tonight with hopefully a different ending Edited December 11, 2025 by stuntmanc
