Craig H Posted November 18, 2025 Posted November 18, 2025 The Reba thing and her diagnosis are so fucking infuriating. If anyone has been keeping up with her and this whole journey, she has been endlessly seeking an answer to what is wrong with only to be given one misdiagnosis after another. How, HOW, did not one fucking doctor do a CAT scan or an MRI of her lungs? I'm trying to remember because she kinda blogged about it but I'm not sure if any doctor she went to took that step. Then I remember her being happy because she thought she finally had an answer to what was happening, the I guess novel form of pneumonia she thought she had, and even then it was a misdiagnosis. I'm glad that the Mayo Clinic was able to sus out what the actual issue was and it sucks that it's cancer, but I'm hoping that what was a year of torture along with a neurological disorder thrown on top of that can have a good ending. 6

I've said to people before it's scary when doctors fuck up as it's lives at stake. You need to spot any diseases early to start treatment or otherwise it's too late. I have a friend that had a similar scenario except it was a brain tumor, every doctor she went to misdiagnosed it until she went to the Mayo Clinic and they found out it was brain cancer in her stem. But it took almost a year before she got some real answers and a treatment plan. 5
username Posted November 19, 2025 Posted November 19, 2025 It isn't a satisfying answer but diagnosing uncommon medical stuff is hard and all your general medical folks are likely beyond overworked while the experts are backed up several months in advance. 2
Jenalysis Posted November 19, 2025 Posted November 19, 2025 It really is, and sometimes it takes a really creative doctor to fix it. This is a bit of a trans thing, but about a few weeks into my transition, I developed big veiny marks on my legs. That is a symptom of HRT being very dangerous for the body- and I thought I was going to be trapped in a hell forever. The first doctor I went to said yep, that's what it is, nothing we can do, but you can live a normal life. I found a second doctor- who was this kinda kooky doctor who ran a disaster practice, but was known to be really good about trans healthcare. She asked about space heaters, and it turned out I had a skin disease common to post-WWII older British women, she was able to suggest a couple of lifestyle changes, and it went away. Been fine ever since. Said doctor lost her practice because she couldn't run her life, let alone a practice, but without her I wouldn't be where I am today- happily married, about to run off into the sunset, and just ok with myself finally. This wasn't as serious as Reba's cancer, but definitely was life-changing for me, and I'm only ok because of a stroke of luck that the right doctor for me and possibly just me was in my local area. 12 1

I'd also suggest, if we're generalizing, that those overworked medical staff are pretty consistently proficient at their jobs. There are so many lives saved and helped greatly everyday, every hour. I'm never a fan of kneejerk medical criticism/outrage over a situation where too few details are known. That said, I also understand the hurt and frustration where these criticisms come from. 2
just drew Posted November 19, 2025 Posted November 19, 2025 Met Rebel/Tanea at a convention once. She goes above and beyond at these meet & greets. Her social media makes her seem like a wonderful soul, as well. Cancer is a dick. 5

A lot of times, at least in the US, medical staff is great BUT handcuffed by insurance companies when it comes to treatment options, tests that can be run, etc. I'll never forget my doctor telling me, "You need a MRI. I'm going to request a MRI, but insurance is going to automatically deny it. I'll call them and try to justify it to them, and I'm hoping we can get it approved." You don't even want to know what my company and I pay for insurance every other week. Edited November 19, 2025 by Technico Support 3
HarryArchieGus Posted November 19, 2025 Posted November 19, 2025 Across Canada we face many similar challenges, but I sure am grateful for our ‘socialist’ health care. 4
Zimbra Posted November 19, 2025 Posted November 19, 2025 Rebel was the person that impressed me the most when I saw AEW live. She was the model of Matt D's "constant engagement" with always reacting to the match, to the fans in the front row, and to the other team in a way that didn't really come across on TV. One of the all-time stooges and I hope she makes a quick and complete recovery. 6 1

I would think it's more the Apter mags and their qualifications for world title status and that line of thinking carrying over to modern fans. 5 1

That was my first real recollection of it - the Apter mags refused to give the ECW Title "world" championship status, I think all the way up until they were on TNN maybe? I don't recall if they ever considered the IWGP or Triple Crown world titles, but I don't think they did. 1
HarryArchieGus Posted November 19, 2025 Posted November 19, 2025 Despite the expected well-churned safe answers I enjoyed the TK Helwani interview. I love TK's endless energy and enthusiasm for Pro Wrestling. 1

Good ol' trans broken arm syndrome. (Uh... for those of you out there who aren't trans, that means we could go into the ER with a broken arm and a lot of doctors will go "you're on hormones? well that's probably it, not that you fell down the steps...") 5
TheVileOne Posted November 20, 2025 Posted November 20, 2025 I'm sad that Chris Jericho is likely gone from AEW. I never hated the Learning Tree as much as everyone else, but now is as good a time as any for him to leave. He's been with the company for six years, and AEW doesn't happen without him. But there isn't really a strong place for him there right now. IMHO, there's no shame in leaving. He got in on the ground floor of a brand-new promotion, helped get them on TV, and the company is still there and still going pretty strong when he left. Not exactly like an XPW or Wrestling Society X situation here. And considering his age, now would be a good time for him to go back to WWE and figure out some sort of retirement run or Hall of Fame run. Not sure how Tony Khan mended fences with Ariel Helwani after calling him a fraud publicly two years ago, but good on him for going on his show. He answered all of Helwani's questions, even though he did a lot of that annoying corporate double-speak and danced around a lot of topics, spitting out a lot of words that don't really say anything of substance. But I'm glad he's moved on from his social media crash-out era, which was cringe. 4
Niners Fan in CT Posted November 20, 2025 Posted November 20, 2025 Tony Khan has been a master of social media and public appearances over the past year. He's done and said everything right. Even in the face of WWE relentlessly and pathetically trying to rage bait him and screw him over. And you know what? AEW has felt more focused than it was the previous year. They've been on a killer streak of PPVs and the TV has been pretty solid as well. Meanwhile, the competition is putting out lazily thrown together slop and overly corporate and safe content. 7

I absolutely feel like WWE is going to try to cynically engineer one retirement tour per year. They're likely hoping Jericho can hold out for two years since AJ Styles is probably next year. Maybe they have a list ready and are just going to tell guys when their time is up. Real Logan's Run shit. Edited November 20, 2025 by Technico Support 1

And/or, have him come back and expective a Cena-like retirement run but getting all pissy when he doesn't. 1 4

Zimbra Posted November 20, 2025 Posted November 20, 2025 If recent history is any indication Jericho will lose his retirement match but the angle will keep going on for another year for no clear reason until it just kind of peters out. 1 2
Craig H Posted November 20, 2025 Posted November 20, 2025 If Jericho returns to WWE, or AEW I guess, what silly ass gimmick will he have on his return. Putting his politics aside, which completely befuddle me and can only be a byproduct of where he's been living since the middle of his WWE days, I will say Jericho is a very inventive and creative person. His batting average on his angles and you can tell which angles are his is pretty good, but most suffer from staying out their welcome or having a flat ending. His gimmick changes are almost always entertaining and despite his age and thanks to TRT he has been able to maintain a decent level of performance in the ring, but you can always tell when that starts to fade. He'll come back looking in great shape and it gets faster as he ages, but he starts getting puffier and starts slowing down more. Dude is old for a wrestler. I'm not going to hold that against him. It's impressive he can keep going. And I'm sure he sees a future for himself in production for WWE because, I mean come on, Bruce and PS Hayes can't stick around forever, right? It already feels like each of them should be old as dirt and yet there they are, still kicking around. Something else Jericho should get credit for is his mind for how each match finishes or what happens in each match. He was open about his criticism of that happening in AEW where the same angle or finish would happen multiple times on one show and how that shouldn't happen. I could almost see Jericho stepping into a role that Pat Patterson had. 2
