Hangman/Hook on PPV doesn't make sense, and Ric has been eating pins recently. My guess is Lashley wins here, while Joe screws Hook something fierce. That would decisively pivot to Opps vs Eddie/Hook. although, I can't help thinking we aren't done with Opps vs Hurt for the trios titles, either. Getting Hangman vs Shelton on the way to Hangman/Lashley would be worth this to me. 5

You seem to watch AEW pretty carefully, and you said you hadn't realized Joe's recent singles record was kind of mediocre until I mentioned it. I hadn't either until I looked it up. It seems likely that a lot of viewers wouldn't notice, and many of those who do notice won't particularly care. And they only have finite screen time, so why spend some explaining something when the absence of that explanation will only bother a handful of viewers? Good storytelling pays close attention to details. The little things go a long way. They aren't always celebrated, but it's what makes something great as opposed to good/fine. Joe is a former Champion, legend and awesome worker - it's hard to complain about him suddenly getting a title shot. And I liked the makeshift build to Joe-Hanger fine for what it was, but it was absolutely a microwave job. I'm not sure that build had a whole lot of ppl believing Joe would win. And YES(!!!), TV time should absolutely be used to promote stories and characters far more than has ever been done in AEW. And yes there are plenty of gaping plot holes. We as AEW fans have come to just accept that if somebody is injured or gone from Television without any sort of story-related reason that that's just what they do. Would it be more effective to tell the audience that Wardlow who had a big return moment on a PPV is injured rather pretending it never happened? Personally speaking, I'd say it'd go a long way towards the storyteller-audience relationship.
The Green Meanie Posted October 30, 2025 Posted October 30, 2025 (edited) (At the beginning of the show, the first time we saw the backstage folks in costumes) "Is Hangman in the Stay Puff suit again?" Thank goodness they finally gave an answer why Hook didn't rejoin The Opps. Absolutely LOVED D-Bry dressing like Hechicro! That DCF painting was interesting, it had Brian Cage but not Wardlow At first, I thought Stat's costume was a Foot Clan soldier, but now I think it was supposed to be Rocky. Any Texan should have weary of the sign of the night, "Don Callis = Yolanda Saldivar". I immediately knew that wasn't Tony when you saw the shot of him from behind, Tony doesn't have that much hair to slick back. Hangman wore a fat suit. They did Tony dirty! Casey Posted October 30, 2025 Posted October 30, 2025 The women just can't have anything to themselves, jesus christ. Two B&G matches in one night is extreme overkill. I'd be okay with this if Collision was set up for one, but it's not, and they explicitly advertised it for the same Dynamite that the women have theirs scheduled for. 4
Curt McGirt Posted October 30, 2025 Posted October 30, 2025 After missing all of last week (bad week) I was very happy to watch this with y'all this time. Spoiler - But missing a half hour didn't change! Because, of course. - The multi-person superspeed spotfest was good as always. Speedball kicked FTR Bald a thousand times in a row. FTR Gun referenced his crotch-al area to the crowd like a member of DX. - DON OF FINLAND~! He was seriously rocking that burgundy suit tonight. (I cracked up at Archer having to scooch his chair forward to let Okada over.) Meanwhile, Statlander was apparently a member of the Foot Clan (TM Razorblade) tonight. Mercedes was wearing a giant nylon stocking with a spiderweb on it. Tony S. was in the laziest Halloween costume ever, which he probably wore at a Halloween Havoc and had in a crate in his garage still. We will find out who the folks that got beat up at the end were (and I missed the beating because my satellite went wonky). I was hoping Mascarita Dorada was the bull, but the person wasn't that small. The other great Halloween thing was the fan with the "DIRECTED BY JAMES 'HELL' BROOKS" sign. - I had completely forgotten that KOR and Mox had already had fought; this one was pretty good (again, I really liked the last one). KOR hit a Shining Wizard to make it almost a complete Ring of Honor from back in the day match only with Moxley wanting to practice his jiu-jitsu. Kyle also took a lariat bump right on his fucking head. There was a super good fuck finish too, and Mox hitting the steps with the chair made me think of the time on Trailer Park Boys After Dark that Jim Lahey was ranting away and Ricky said "you are fucking violent!" It could have been a leeeetle more violent, but at least Jon leaning his head over to have the blood flow down his face worked in that direction too. - The Bandido video almost made me cry. His mom clearly does not watch his matches, due to worry and fear. It was all very sweet and reminds you how crazy and talented all of these people are. - GOOD LORD HAYTER AND AMINATA ARE PRACTICALLY THE STEINERS TOGETHER. I wrote that on the Discord and they immediately did double German suplexes, too. Skye was not having the Queen's shit and gave her some receipts on those slaps. - Hook's music is still wack. For a four-way that was eeeeeeeexcellent. Bobby imitated a runaway train (and busted out the DOMINATOR) then Joe decided to imitate a couch falling off a balcony. Hook took some pretty hard bumps on stuff and played good as the underdog with personal stuff between the opponents due to his allegiance. Ricochet once again managed to work his chickenshit heel stuff with his highspots perfectly, including literally bouncing off two guys on the mat one time towards the end. Apparently Page also appeared wearing a Phantom mask? Oh, and Bobby showing up in some dope regular gear was another cool Halloween thing. Happy holiday, everyone. Give and get some candy. Watch some movies, and some wrestling. Get fucked up. Life is short. 4
HarryArchieGus Posted October 30, 2025 Posted October 30, 2025 An awesome crowd in Edinburg helped propel a pretty stellar show. Only caught the latter half of the OC/Darby-Yuta/Garcia opener, but dug what I saw. I really like this Daniel/Wheeler unit. The FTR 4 way was spotty, of course, but mostly sensational. The Don Callis Family Summit was tremendous! Leave it to Don and co. to get the townhall right. Some big hearty laughs down the stretch for Don and especially Okada. Edinburg nicely salutes the Alchemist! Another excellent KOR-Mox battle. Not sure KOR needed the goofy Conglomeration video prior to this heated battle. It was pretty amusing seeing him fuming around with that silly music and Saved by the Bell graphics playing - interesting graphics following what is clearly a 90210 spoof. I really like this Athena/Mercedes duo. All the makeshift teams for this tournament are great - Windsor/Riho included. Truly excellent Bandido video! So too the Dorada highlight package. That 3 way was a wonderful match to see live. Collision is looking like a rockin' show. Aminata/Hayter totally outclassed Skye/Julia. I hope we get more Aminata/Hayter as a team. Nice Ford promo before the Bayne/Marina/Mox hilarity. Am I watching public access television? Not complaining. Really fun and well layed out main event. Post match stuff with Hanger was poorly timed, but Edinburg was up when needed. Again, just a wonderful audience and a really fun show. 4

Are we even getting a women's Blood & Guts match? They still haven't announced any teams, and the announcers have gone to lengths to remind us in recent weeks that the Triangle of Madness hadn't accepted Hayter's challenge. Having Hayter issue the challenge then not follow up with a match would be pretty bush-league, but I'm worried that's what's going to happen. 1

Curt McGirt Posted October 30, 2025 Posted October 30, 2025 So they referenced the Alchemist (which I missed) and you're listening to Bronson? Cool coincidence. On the Discord I got reminded of the Madvillain album today and started playing it over the four-team match toward the top of the show. It felt like slipping into an old coat, or a pair of shoes, if they actually fit. 1

Now that you mention all of that, and now that I think about it, them starting the women's tag title tournament this week is odd timing too. Especially with most of the women in the brackets having been rumored for the match. Theoretically wouldn't the tournament end around the Blood & Guts show? I'm now fearing that they'll have the finals at the Blood & Guts show as a make good on basically cancelling it. That's so fucked. 1
Curt McGirt Posted October 30, 2025 Posted October 30, 2025 Looking at the brackets, there is clearly no suspense on who the final teams will be, either. 1
The Green Meanie Posted October 30, 2025 Posted October 30, 2025 Or The Women's Tag Team Tournament is a replacement for the Women's Blood & Guts match. 1
Casey Posted October 30, 2025 Posted October 30, 2025 AEW deserves to get fucking roasted for this if this is indeed the case. 4

Cool coincidence. If this is at me, no. What I meant was that his current theme by Jay-Jay Johanson has two different versions. The correct (and better version) came out in 1996, you can find another version from 2011 that's not as good. I didn't care for his original theme from Bronson. Edit: Again I ask as last week, did anyone else get commercials for Omar Ochoa for Mayor of Edinburg? Edited October 30, 2025 by The Green Meanie 1
SovietShooter Posted October 30, 2025 Posted October 30, 2025 The Johanson song is a perfectly fine song, but not good entrance music. The Bronson song is a banger though, and I'm not a big Bronson fan. As far as women's B&G - they haven't followed up on the challenge in any way, but Danielson clearly said on commentary tonight that Penelope Ford's injury would force her to miss the tag tourney and B&G. Then there was a lengthy silence before Ex changed the subject, so methinks Danielson slipped up and was told so in the headset. 1 1
Curt McGirt Posted October 30, 2025 Posted October 30, 2025 (edited) Ah, okay, understood; I didn't know there was another version. Me personally I haven't got into Bronson, though I like his Vice show, and thought the song was a solid enough intro for somebody. Maybe I haven't listened to enough of his stuff. The Ghostface comparisons are pretty on-the-nose but... yeah. I can get into tribute stuff but sometimes it doesn't work. If you're a rapper you need to give me a hook. Maybe he can't help it. I still respect him. Here's a thought: what if the finals of the women's tourney ends up in a bloodbath? Maybe they try and outdo or compare to that great tag with Britt Baker and the Bunny that did the same? That would be unexpected but some kind of replacement at least. EDIT: I don't mean to say he's intentionally trying to bite Ghostface's vocal inflections, it might just be what it is. He isn't a tribute act even if he's influenced by Ghost. I LOVE some metal and punk tribute acts ripping off other bands completely which is what I meant by that. You would be amazed by the amount of shit that sounds just like Discharge in my collection. HarryArchieGus Posted October 30, 2025 Posted October 30, 2025 Where does this Women's Blood n Guts match rank on all time worst 'wargames' builds? 1
DreamBroken Posted October 30, 2025 Posted October 30, 2025 (edited) Taken a few weeks to get back into things since Wrestledream. Gutted for Penelope to be out of the tournament (and Blood & Guts if it happens). but Bayne & Marina feels like an epic team that wouldn't just lose, though I wouldn't wanna see TayJay out in the first round either. I feel there's still a little bit of unpredictability there, but my finals guess is Toni & Mina vs Skye & Julia and I assume the finals take place at Full Gear which is the week after the Blood & Guts show. Another good one from Moxley/Kyle, digging their little rivalry that has developed. 4 way tag had some good stuff in it and I really liked the main event 4 way. We all knew Joe was winning, but still had a couple great near falls from Lashley & Ricochet. The Bandido/Dorada rematch initially announced for this week's ROH got moved to Collision instead. The ending was very waiting around for something's obviously going to happen, but thought the eventual reveal was an excellent something different way of going about it. Absolutely loved the general callbacks of Schiavone in the Phantom mask 1990 style, and the Marshmallow man which ended up being Gino Medina as the local getting beat up. A lot of the time these Halloween type shows don't have enough Halloween, so this all ruled. Edited October 30, 2025 by DreamBroken 2

Really dug the way they forced out Bobby and Ricochet from the match. It was simple, but it worked. Sometimes that's the best way for things, just like the middle finger from Okada. A brawl-out would have been nice but that was probably better reserved for a later date, and the Blood and Guts announcement kind of took its place, necessarily. And yeah I marked out for Bryan being dressed like Hechicero out of nowhere too haha 3

The Natural Posted October 30, 2025 Posted October 30, 2025 Full Gear 2025 is looking great. AEW World Champion Hangman Adam Page vs. Samoa Joe. AEW Women's World Champion Kris Statlander vs. Mercedes Mone. AEW World Tag Team Champions Brodido vs. FTR. I'm especially looking forward to Brodido vs. FTR. That should be a MOTYC. 1
Steventon Posted October 30, 2025 Posted October 30, 2025 Have to say, the slow Young Bucks face turn being done via the power of being humbled has been done really great. The moment they save Kenny and come to his aid against the Don Callas family is going to go off 5
