๐ŸŽผย Ain't no love in the heart of the city, ain't no love in the heart of town...ย Ain't no love and it's sure enough a pity, ain't no love 'cause you ain't around...

Last week, we got around to deciding who would be the #1 contender to the World Championship!

(Oh *now* she realizes she has to be a heel (in theory) to be a champ...)

๐Ÿ‘จ๐Ÿพโ€๐ŸŽคย When you were mine, oh, I was feeling so good...ย 'Cause your love lit up, this whole neighborhood...

Meanwhile, the Men's Speed champion (yes it's still around!) is keeping an eye on the tournament to determine his new #1 contender!

(I love how Chad Gable finally committed to the bit. Shame we haven't seen Ludwig Kaiser in a while now, he'd be a great foil to EGA.)

๐Ÿ’”ย And now that you're gone, you know the sun don't shine... From the city hall to the county line,ย and that's why I said...

Anywho....ย  Saturday Night's Main Event is this week!ย  ย We'll get a new World Champ!ย  But... Raw first!ย ย

ย

(You listen to AP, I ain't gonna)

ย

ย

(One of the biggest things late 90s-2000's R&B did best was re-introducing people to absolute classics like this one. So, thanks Hove...)

Enjoy the week!

I had assumed that Kaiser would have picked up Castilian Spanish since he's European but a quick search indicates that Latin American Spanish is usually taught since it's considered easier to pick up. But Kaiser's use of "wey" is pretty cool since he's mixing in some slang.

Skipped the opening segment aside form the ending which seemed to have some decent intensity. I do like how Punk tries to put Jey over whenever he talks about him.

Penta/Rusev was good up until the non-finish via Los Americanos attack. It was expected, but I didn't hate it.

Nikki/Roxanne was solid. Kind of surprised Roxanne won though it is good to see Bella mostly putting people over when she wrestles. The post match segment was nothing special, but I kind of look forward to the tag match with Vaquer.

Bron/Knight built into something solid-good with a pretty neat finish.

Sheamus/JD was exactly what you expect and want from these two with Sheamus putting over JD pretty well even with the cheating finish.

Bayley/Lyra vs. Charlotte/Alexa was a pleasant surprise. Never expected bad match, but I also wasn't expecting something decently built and drawn out with everyone involved looking mostly good. Add in very engaged crowd and good finish, and this made for a pretty good tv main event. Its been nice seeing Charlotte & Alexa improve as a team each match and manage a decent run so far. Also been digging the weird Lyra/Bayley story as well. Curious to see where things go after the post match attack by the Kabuki Warriors, especially after they beat in everyone but Bayley.

ย

Pretty solid-good show wrestling wise. The tag titles match was the big standout for me. Story wise a decent night further building longer terms stories. Kind of mixed on Maxxine not going after Becky immediately. Hope they don't sit on that one too long and have some further building of Maxxine in mind.

Axiom/Jasper never really got out of first gear with how short it was. I suspect they could actually have a good match with time involved. Axiom can be explosive, but he isn't as flashy as other speedsters and high flyers.

Lash/Kendal was shockingly good. It wasn't super smooth or anything, but these two feed into the other's style so damn well. This is probably Lash's best showcase as a power wrestler ever the way she would dominate at times. Loved Kendal's comebacks and how Lash would cut her off. Really made Kendal have to earn the win. Hope this is a match we see again on a bigger stage in the future.

Tavion/Myles was good. Dug how this started out mostly as chain and mat wrestling. There were some neat moments and the gradually transition to something harder hitting was neat as well. They kept it nice and respectful even as Briggs tried to be a dick and interrupt.

Tatum/Lola ended just a few minutes with a pissed off Fatal Influence on the attack taking out both women along with Izzi on the outside. Its a pity we didn't get a an actual match, but this also made sense.ย

Jordynne/Kelani was a good main event. Was neat seeing Kelani go for something different with the way she went after Grace's leg. Grace fighting from underneath was pretty nice as well with some cool moments of failure as she had to also fight her damaged leg. The finish had some nice chaos with the Trick/Ricky brawl and Kelani using the moment to cheat her way to victory. It was good to see the heel turn happen. They have been teasing it on and off for a year now to an annoying point. I think Kelani will do well as a heel just going off of how she wrestled here.

ย

5 matches but only 3 real ones. Still, all three were quite good, different, and worth a catch. Lash/Kendal was probably my favorite though Jordynne/Kelani might have been the best. I thought the story side was solid here with a lot moving forward. Not been big on this Trick/Ricky feud, but I kind of dug the chaotic feel their brawling provided throughout the night. It heated the feud rather nicely and provided some nice moments. Good show tonight.

Probably should be thankful for the Fatal Influence run because I think the vast majority saw Lola Vice on that wheel gimmick and thought "fuck Tatum is a transitional champion" .ย  I mean she probably still is but she deserves a reign more than 3 or 4 days.

If there is a Saturday Night's Main Event this weekend and it isn't on NBC TV and is barely talked about is it really a Saturday Night's Main Event?ย  ย I mean you know there is going to be a heavyweight title change and some other really good matches as wellย  (although extremely redundant)ย  And absolutely no buzz

I still say it isn't a real SNME if it isn't in the SNL timeslot, but I lost that battle ages ago.

ย

Made my first attempt to sneakily watch non-Raw WWE stuff on Netflix tonight. Got bounced for using a VPN (or as the app put it, "unblocker or proxy") right after Wilson/Hayes, which was a nothing match that didn't serve either guy well. (Is Elton hurt again or something? Where did this gimmick for Kit come from?) But Nathan v Ilja was a goddamn banger so at least i got to see one real good match.ย

Ilja/Frazer was so damn good despite a scary moment or two. Dug the post match with DIY on the attack and brawling as well.

Melo/Wilson was fine, but mostly served to further Miz's feud with Hayes.

Nia/Alexa was more drawn out than expected and fairly decent with Nia dominating and Charlotte willing Alexa on at multiple times. Still, the finish left something to be desired, and Nia can understandably pull back too much when on offense. Hopefully Nia/Charlotte next week is better though they don't have the best chemistry from what I recall.

MCMG vs. Tama/Cobb was solid with the Guns getting in a good showcase before falling to the MFTs cheating ways. Post match was the usual MFT beatdown on faces including failed sving attempts by Fenix and Nakamura.

Skipped the final segment as Cody/Drew hasn't really drawn my interest.

ย

The wrestling was fine here, but Ilja/Frazer was the only real standout. Still, the match was quite the standout and definitely one should go out of their way to check out if they have the chance. The show overall was fine, but I'm kind of looking more forward to next with Charlotte/Nia, Giulia/Chelsea, and Fenix/Hikuleo. Nothing will probably be great sans whoever Ilja defends the US title against, but all are fresh matches that could be interesting in how they work out.

I dont know if that Cincinnati vs Utah mascot fight was just a commercial or something on the show but I did not see that the ONLY Keith Lee reference in 2025 would be in this

Iljia/Frazier was sick. Was worried it'd become a 3 way. Glad it didn't.ย  I also thought Ciampa was Gillberg for a second.ย ย

There is no way I can take the MFT seriously.ย  Solo is not good in-ring and the Weeknd cosplay sucks. The rest of them do not look intimidating.ย  As the kids on my crew would say "TS not tuff, vro"

I like the Hidden Blade on Tama. I think the change in the MFTs works for him. In general though I think the group and Solo get a lot more crap than they deserve.ย

What I caught of Cody/Drew seemed solid enough or more.

Jade/Tiffany was an extended squash. I actually liked it with Tiffany clearly injured and Jade cold and focused opposed to her usual showboating. I only wish Jade used a submission to win. Would have been nice to see that aspect of Tiffy's injury being played into and honestly done a bit more for both as characters. Not the best of their matches but still nice as a story.

Dom vs. Penta vs. Rusev was solid enough, but it never quite hit that next gear for me though I did enjoy Dom's Eddie hijinks not working out the first time around.

Jey vs. Punk was probably a solid match by the end, but these are two guys who a bit awkward i moveset, execution, and pacing so they don't have the best of chemistry. Still they managed to drag the crowd in during the last third or so of the match and had some decent kickout moments.ย

Not a bad show, but nothing particularly stand out here for me which I sadly kind of expected.

So a 16 man tournament to determine Cena opponent in DC.ย  Hopefully it stays that the people who have already faced him are out.ย  More specifically Brock.ย  I like this idea to be fair

I'm sorry but LOL @ Lesnar potentially working five matches in just over a month, he'd turn the most spectacular shade of red halfway through that ๐Ÿ˜›

The Cena final opponent tournament was honestly th emost interesting thing on the show. I love that they are focusing on guys he hasn't faced. Really though I just want it to be Dom or Gunther. Anyone else will be a disappointment.

I think it's John Cena vs. Dominik Mysterio at Survivor Series, Cena wins the WWE Intercontinental Championship and finally becomes a WWE Grand Slam Champion. Cena vs. Gunther in Cena's last match. Cena vacates the belt or loses it to Gunther. I'd prefer a vacation as Gunther doesn't need it again as the longest Intercontinental Champion ever unless he does so he and Ilia Dragunov have the two secondary championships. We then get Gunther vs. Dragunov down the line.
