But on the other hand, if they want said titles to mean anything, The Ops' title reign probably shouldn't end in a match with no real build-up.

Despite the poor editing between cameras (c'mon, ya knew the audio didn't match), the Stat/Toni sitdown was pretty tremendous. Stat did pretty well all things considered. Toni nails everything she does. This has been a unique and creative build that has been mostly successful. I feel more stoked for this match because of it. 1

I really liked it too, but I also couldn’t help but wonder whether it was done this way to have a teleprompter off camera. Renee was also tremendous during this. And then having them say “is the interview over? Good, let’s go to the ring” (and Renee asking for a new jacket) 1

NJPW seems to have done nothing to get a proper challenger ready - they've clearly needed a booking change for far too long. I just don't see Okada vs Takeshita after having been built up on AEW TV for this long being featured on the little seen NJPW World app. Either Okada or Takeshita drop the fall due to the other's 'misfire'. 1
JLowe Posted October 17, 2025 Posted October 17, 2025 So Jamie Hayter and Skye Blue had a hell of a match, possibly Skye’s best (and best not against Toni Storm for sure). Lots of chain wrestling, reversals, stiff shots, some big power moves with Skye bumping like crazy. I don’t think they’ll be the first champs, but I would like Sisters of Sin to get a run with the women’s tag titles. Harley Cameron also had one of her best matches, worked really smooth, did some pretty impressive stuff for her, and they meshed really well. She’s really put in the work over the last 18 months or so and really paid off the investment of time and attention. Hayter-Skye would probably have been MOTN if not for the Claudio-Strong bout, although to be fair they’re both top workers with a long history. The aforementioned Toni-Stat segment was fantastic, but the Darby-Mox vignette was cinema. I really don’t know what they are gonna do at the PPV to top the levels of violence they’ve previously accomplished. Overall an enjoyable night of wrestling and a good crowd. 4
username Posted October 17, 2025 Posted October 17, 2025 I mean, if a sizable portion of NJPW's audience is pushing hard against Takeshita as they are sick of outsiders holding the top belt you'd have to be pretty nuts to run him vs Okada at the Dome unless Tony himself is really pushing hard for it, I don't know what the NJPW version of that Brock/Goldberg Mania match is but I don't think they should try and find out. 1

Seems like WK this year is focused solely on Tanahashi's final match. Does NJPW have any homegrowns that could fill that role as a top draw, or are NJPW fans just wishing for something that doesn't exist right now? 3

Harley's made some quiet improvements to her game lately. Her timing in particular seems to be a lot better. The improvement feels significant and kinda suggests, with some further patience, that she could be on her way to a top spot. I agree on Hayter-Skye. Hayter's in a good zone right now. I do wish she'd find less awkward spots to do the arm kiss, but a minor complaint. Claudio-Strong was every bit as great as I thought it would be. And (at least after the fact) I could care less if a sleepy audience in Kansas City agrees or not. Tho, they did come alive for the great sudden finish. Mox-Darby could've benefitted from an editing tool (some real clunky dialogue in there), but I definitely liked their creative vignette. I could've done without the spooky score tho. It cheesed it up a little more than I like, but it is pro wrestling, so I accept. Okada powering down the Takeshita video may have been the highlight of the night. He was so uninspired at that time and I can't really blame him. Imagine being the Ace for so long then you have to take a backseat to not only Hogan, but Nash and Hall. If you compare that time to his TNA and even AEW run, he really put in the effort when he could've just phoned it in and Noone would have an issue. 97/98 was a dark time for him personally but even still. He was only in the Wolfpac so Nash could keep him just below him. Konnan was the one that actually made it work. I see why he and Nash fell out for a second after it ended. I could see Hogan looking at how over Konnan was then decided to get back on with Nash. Don't get me wrong, Nash was over too but Konnan made the Wolfpac work. 2
