Most looking forward to Hangman Adam Page vs. Samoa Joe, Kris Statlander vs. Timeless Toni Storm and Brodido vs. Kazuchika Okada/Konosuke Takeshita. 1
tbarrie Posted October 8 Posted October 8 Do we think there's any chance Toni and Stat get to close the show? Samoa Joe is awesome and all, but in 2025 he doesn't strike me as a PPV main event challenger. (Though yesterday's Page/Joe promo did change my mind a little. It was pretty great.) 1
RazorbladeKiss87 Posted October 8 Posted October 8 I was thinking Mox/Darby last, depending on how crazy they get. 2

Usually the AEW World Championship match closes the PPV. I'm still pissed at Tony Khan for not putting Timeless Toni Storm vs. Mariah May from AEW Revolution 2025 on last as it's the best feud in AEW history, the first time the AEW Women's World Championship would have main evented a PPV and deserved to headline for those reasons on merit. The AEW Women's World Championship would have joined the AEW World Championship, AEW TNT Championship and AEW World Tag Team Championship. 22 hours ago, RazorbladeKiss87 said: I was thinking Mox/Darby last, depending on how crazy they get. 22 hours ago, tbarrie said: Also a possibility, though not as likely as it would have been had WrestleDream stayed in Seattle, I think. Hindsight tells us TK knew there was a pretty good chance Mariah May was leaving. At the time, I wouldn't have disagreed with Toni v Mariah main eventing (absolutely agree it had the merit), but even with the success of that match I'm glad they didn't allow for a PPV Main Eventer to go slumming it at NXT following. Goddamn I miss Mariah May. Not sure Stat v Toni is a main event. Toni is no doubt a main eventer, but I don't see Stat quite there. Not yet. I did love their talky from last Saturday tho. 2

I miss Mariah May as well. I'd say Timeless Toni Storm vs. Kris Statlander is probably the third or fourth biggest women's match in AEW history on PPV. Off the top of my head: 1. Timeless Toni Storm vs. Mariah May. AEW Revolution 2025. 2. Timeless Toni Storm vs. Mercedes Mone. AEW All In 2025. 3. Timeless Toni Storm vs. Kris Statlander. AEW WrestleDream 2025. 4. Mercedes Mone vs. Britt Baker. AEW All In 2024. 1

May-Storm was probably my most anticipated. Willow-Mone was right there too. I liked all those previous matches you mentioned - the Baker-Mone match included; which was not great, but one of Britt's better matches. May-Storm from All In is right in there for me too. And coming out of the pandemic, and her build to victory, Dr. Baker vs. Shida. 2
Death From Above Posted October 10 Posted October 10 This show honestly looks pretty cracked so far not gonna lie. 1
Shartnado Posted October 11 Posted October 11 I'm intrigued to see what Broke Bucks vs Jurassic Perry will look like these days. Their first PPV match from '19 or '20 was spectacular but they are all somewhat different people now. I mean Bucks are pretty same, just financially challenged. 2
Craig H Posted October 11 Posted October 11 To what was said before, while Toni vs Mariah being the main event could have been a decision, in hindsight, it made more sense to slot that match where it was because it had mega heat. You put that on last at the end of what is always a long show then you run the risk of the crowd being burnt out by that point. 2

Man, I'm missing the early 20:00pm starts used at All In 2025 and All Out 2025 rather than the usual 01:00am start again. 8pm is so much better than 1am UK time. Least it's a Saturday but it still sucks.
The Natural Posted October 15 Posted October 15 Just looked the last two AEW PPVs this year after WrestleDream, Full Gear and Worlds End are both on a Saturday. Saturday PPVs are better than Sunday as you have Sunday to catch up on the sleep you've missed as it goes out 1am-5am unlike when it goes out Monday at 1am-5am. I used to do that with some WWF PPVs in the Attitude Era. Watched some live, three hours kip and off to school. Brutal.
Niners Fan in CT Posted October 15 Posted October 15 They don't seem to sell that well in St. Louis, not sure why they returned there for another PPV. This event has always been a bit of a B-show in my view but that said I do like the card they've put together very much. It's an interesting mix of people. I also like that there's a women's grudge match on the card with no title on the line. 2
The Natural Posted October 18 Posted October 18 My predictions in bold: AEW World Champion Hangman Adam Page defends against Samoa Joe. AEW Women’s World Champion Kris Statlander defends against Toni Storm. AEW TNT Champion Kyle Fletcher defends against Mark Briscoe. AEW TBS Champion Mercedes Mone defends against any champion in the world. AEW Tag Team Champions Brodido defend against Kazuchika Okada/Konosuke Takeshita. I Quit match: Jon Moxley vs. Darby Allin. $500,000 tag team match: The Young Bucks vs. Jurassic Express. Tornado trios match: The Hurt Syndicate vs. The Demand. Jamie Hayter vs. Thekla. I predict Brodido vs. Kazuchika Okada/Konosuke Takeshita MOTN.
Niners Fan in CT Posted October 18 Posted October 18 Mercedes issued an open challenge last night at the CMLL event. She will defend the TBS title against someone. My prediction is Spoiler Syuri
The Natural Posted October 18 Posted October 18 Tony Khan update: “After last night’s Arena México win, longest reigning TBS Champ @MercedesVarnado puts up the TBS Title vs any champion + their belt! 10 Belts Moné aims to set the record for most belts held simultaneously TONIGHT!”
tbarrie Posted October 18 Posted October 18 I agree with most of the Natural's predictions, but I don't think Brodido will lose the tag team titles. I suspect lack of teamwork from Takeshita and Okada will cost the latter the match, pushing their feud to the next step. I also still think they want to build Thekla to the level of world title contender, which would mean she'll need to beat Hayter, I think. I should also note that I love that we're getting more than two women's matches on a PPV. (Still not very close to gender balanced, though, CoachTonyK.) 1

Brodido vs. Okads/Takeshita I went back and forth on the most for the reason you gave, friction between Okada/Takeshita. I went with Brodido in the end because Okada rarely does jobs, you can't have Takeshita do the job as he's just won the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship and it's highly usual for an AEW match on PPV to end on countout/disqualification. I also went back and forth on Hayter/Thekla.
colonial Posted October 18 Posted October 18 A little out of left field here but when I first heard of tonight's Mercedes Mone challenge, my first thought was ... Spoiler Nyla Rose -- she is the Pro Wrestling EVE champion in England. She hasn't been on AEW TV in nearly a year so, at the very least, she'd be a surprise that the fans recognize and you don't have to fly out of Mexico or Japan to get. 2

The Natural Posted October 18 Posted October 18 Not sure I'll be watching live. Knackered mentally and physically. Might just try and get a good night's sleep, see what matches are recommended from my DVDVR MB family for the replay.
