Dolfan in NYC Posted October 7 Posted October 7  Twenty years ago, saw a friend was walking by... And I stopped him on the street to ask him, how it went and all he did was cry....  AEW stopped doing the top 10 from last week. Probably because Tony hates me. Meanwhile, I have no idea what happened because I've been traveling for the past week.   And I looked him in the face, but I couldn't see past his eyes. I asked him what the problem was, He says, here's your disguise.... Meanwhile, Harley is on TV showing off her skillz:  Now he's hardly getting over it, he's hardly getting used to getting by... Now he's hardly getting over it, he's hardly getting used to getting by, by... HOLY CRUD! IT'S DYNAMITE ON TUESDAY~! Serious question, isn't Ishii like 0-20 in AEW singles matches? I mean he's certainly not beating the company's #1 (or 2) heel.   (Bob Mould forever. Dave Grohl never. I'm hardly getting over this jet lag)  Hüsker Dü have a great week! 4

Who are out you to doubt Google's AI?  (Okay, but seriously, he appears to be 0-13 in singles matches. Lots of wins as part of a team, though.) 1 2

Curt McGirt Posted October 7 Posted October 7 I have a really totally tasteless joke to make about that news segment but I'll keep it to myself. After reading the Segunda review of Wrestle Kingdom where Ishii was being dropped on his head by Takeshita in January, he'll probably consider it a pleasure to lose to Moxley and only have to take a Death Rider/Paradigm Shift or two. 1
HarryArchieGus Posted October 7 Posted October 7 This week's line-up looks pretty rocking this week. A Joe-Hanger talkie is certainly more welcome than most 'Town Halls'. So, Bandido's weekend injury was a work? Brodido-Okada/Takeshita is a match I never knew I wanted so much. Ishii-Mox and Pac-OC, nuff said. Kyle-Kyle 2 is sure to be as solid as the first. O'Reilly's quietly has had a great year teaming with Roddy - if you watch Collision. Mone vs Mystery opponent could be fun. Happy to see Looch and Jungle Jack back in the saddle. Hurts-Demand, uh, yeah, sure. Fantasma? 1

TheCubsFan's update on the Luchablog laid it out there pretty directly that it was a work. I would love to see Kyle & Roddy pushed as a legitimate tag team, not just JTTS duty  3

Not to say it always hits, but I like the quirks Kyle's been presenting lately. In ring, he's been consistently excellent. Roddy, to me, is in the top tier of best bell to bell wrestlers in the world.  4

Kyle and Roddy have a good schtick, where Kyle is the quirky wack job, while Roddy is super serious to the point t it is ridiculous. They're like Dennis & Mac. 5
Cobra Commander Posted October 8 Posted October 8 Things I remember from this week's edition of AEW Dynamite: I'm taking playoff baseball off for this Hangman and Samoa Joe having some words for each other Moxley wins again Ricochet gets yeeted by the Hurt Syndicate At least we won't have the Young Bucks joining ICE to make some money Jack Perry is a face in the local tradition of punchable faces not being heels here Mercedes Mone beats some person Promoz for Collision, lots of promos, watch Collison (I probably won't) Kyle beat Kyle, Kyle faces Briscoe at the PPV Building tension between Okada and Takeshita Some fun spots in Pac/OC Feels like the first row was closer to the ring than usual for an AEW show (is that just a Daily's Place thing) Did a security person just tackle Darby like Darby ran onto a baseball field? 1
Curt McGirt Posted October 8 Posted October 8 - Missed the championship faceoff. - Moxley/Ishii was what you expect. - Street fight was pretty awesome down the stretch and ended incredible. That chokeslam was INSANE, especially. Coming out to your street fight in your best suits -- and putting them back on after you win -- is baller. No blood but whaddaya want. - I could care less about Jurassic Express and didn't even know who the other team was. - Kyle/Kyle (KOR: "I hate other people named Kyle") was good from what I saw but we were gabbing a lot on the Discord. - The Callis Family is getting a wee bit big for its britches, at least in amount of members. - I guess Kacey was a tag champ in WWE who got turfed. She had some cool offense. But, it's still a Mone match that she's gonna obviously win. - Mortos wearing his shades over the mask and just going "RUUUUUUUUU!" was great. That influenced DFA to post this legendary piece of video: Spoiler If Mortos said all that shit it would be legendary. - Tag match was perfectly fine, the kind of AEW workrate stuff that everyone gets with. I was surprised this was only for a title shot though. - Now PAC vs. Orange was what I wanted to see! Super tech-ed out start and they could have just rolled for the whole match far as I'm concerned. It eventually turned into the spotfest you expected but when that involves these two guys and their inventiveness, it rules the most. Finish was real inventive too. Darby showed up looking like he'd been sleeping in his car for a week. "Darby ain't take no showers!" - Negative points: Daily's Place seemed real quiet to me, but that could have been the traditional AEW Audio Curse. PAC's new gear looks like shit, but the laaaadies dug it when he dropped straps. And needless to say, the THREE FUCKING ICE COMMERCIALS LYING ABOUT THEIR TARGETS THROUGH THEIR TEETH were something I seriously hope Coach Tony's hands are tied on by Turner. 1
Curt McGirt Posted October 8 Posted October 8 I really don't understand why everyone is bitching about Collision on here. It's more wrestling on your TV that isn't WWE or TNA. Don't complain; watch it! 2 8
Cobra Commander Posted October 8 Posted October 8 for the record, i'm just noting that they're really building Collision matches more than complaining about it.. if they had promos for Dynamite matches on Collision then it'll be a daisy chain of perpetual build 2

It just gotten old by now. 2
SovietShooter Posted October 8 Posted October 8 Speaking of Collision talk... I don't get the whole "I do have time to watch it on Saturday night" thing that gets thrown around in these type of discussions. Do you all not have DVRs or HBO Max to watch it on at your leisure? Most Saturday nights I'm knee deep in soccer, and rarely watch Collision when it is actually on. But it is great on Sunday mornings. 5
Cobra Commander Posted October 8 Posted October 8 if that security person had taken down a heel, there'd be an opening for a heel to demand the security guy get fined ala the Jonathan Gannon fine for yelling at Emari Demercado if references to NFL angles were a thing on AEW TV, that'd come up next week with the double show they're doing 2
Curt McGirt Posted October 8 Posted October 8 I always DVR the shows, usually because I HAVE to from forgetting. I'm finally getting around to Collision tomorrow. 2
Peck Posted October 8 Posted October 8 Wearing a white shirt in a Street Fight and not getting color??? -2.5* Megan Bayne looked a legit 6'8" standing next to FTR and Stokely. lol 1
Curt McGirt Posted October 8 Posted October 8 There were certainly opportunities, like getting posted Megan was probably 7'5" with that fuckin' hat. And it must weigh 30 lbs. 1

Yeah, Daily's Place was sleeping. I don't think that was the Audio curse. Tho, it is an outdoor venue.. Felt a bit like a Pandemic Homecoming. I dunno, I kinda dug Pac's early Dynamite Kid in NJPW/Stampede black version. Pretty rad promo there!
Casey Posted October 8 Posted October 8 It’s crazy that PAC’s dad, X, let him borrow his ring gear. Also his forearm vein really freaks me out. Kind of a meh Dynamite tbh.
HarryArchieGus Posted October 8 Posted October 8 Dug what I caught live. Hanger-Joe seemed on point. Solid Briscoe promo. And Callis Family etc. later on. Love seeing matches getting lead-in promos for Saturday. That's how you do it - simple and effective. Ishii-Mox was excellent. Sleepy Daily's even got up momentarily for Big Tom. Very nice Stat-Toni video package. Sell that sizzle, Ms. Paquette! Hurts-Demand was mostly fun stuff. GOA had some moments, but still need a lot of work. Another run at the NJPW Tag League would surely help. Terrific finish. Ricochet is a supreme bump machine. Great flip off the stage too. Jurassic Express squash was pretty blah. I like their finish fine, but do they both need to be in there after the tag for that goddamn long? The Bucks attack was solid. Is it just me, or is Jungle Jack feeling a bit too arrogant as a babyface right now? Good Pac/D Riders promo. Yeah, god bless tape delay I still need to see Fletcher vs. O'Reilly and the aftermath. Looked great for what I saw. Missed the Mercedes match. Curious to see the debut. The little I saw of Lacey Lane on WWETV was not particularly strong, but let's see. I'm into the Sammy revitalization. Such a natural heel and a great fit with the LFI crew. There should be more room on Wednesdays for Eddie Kingston promos. I can't believe their promoting Collison matches! I'm just so pleased by this development. Okada/Takeshita-Brodido looked solid, but I gotta see it in full. I like this booking for the PPV. The post-match Brodido promo was excellent. Loved Brody suggesting Bandido is the best wrestler in the world. OC-Pac I saw in full, and did not disappoint. Fun post match. Stoked for Mox-Darby 'I Quit'. Really enjoyed what I saw of the live show. And grateful as always for the power of tape delay! 2
Cobra Commander Posted October 8 Posted October 8 guessing people saying "Pack" instead of "Pahck" is sorta like the I-rack/Er-rawk or I-ran/Err-ran differences between USA English and British English? and you know Taz wishes he had a guy bumping for his suplexes like Ricochet did. Ricochet appearing in the ECW Arena in 1997 in a Michael Irvin Cowboys jersey and getting booed before Taz beats him in 2 minutes 2
The Green Meanie Posted October 8 Posted October 8 That crowd was TERRIBLE. Speaking of terrible things: BOOOOO more ICE ads. Tazz didn't sing for Baltimora Pac's new outfit Why exactly did that one security guard care so much about what Darby did? Sammy talked again No intro for KM Good things: Casual Hechicero Daniel's airbrushed hoodie They finally answered my question about if Mortos was still in LFI (sunglasses over the mask is amazing, btw) The Bucks' gambling problem is getting worse 1

It's odd seeing a security guard able to handle himself after years of security being used as fodder. That said, I uh liked the security guard's commitment to safety. 1
