🎼 Close your eyes, give me your hand, darling... Do you feel my heart beating?
One thing AEW lacked for damn sure was championships!  Coach Tony heard you loud and clear!

AEW-womens-tag-belts.jpeg

The ladies get rewarded for their hard work and Tony gets to hold a tournament!   Win, Win!

❤️‍🔥 Do you understand? Do you feel the same? Am I only dreaming?

Meanwhile.  Boys will be boys...

Darby was clearly given instructions to not point that stupid thing anywhere but up and away from the crowd. But he was just one sneeze away from putting AEW out of business forever. 😬

👩🏾‍🚒 Is this burning an eternal flame?

Alrighty... all that aside, it's the 6th Anniversary of Dynamite this week!  What's in store?

G2Dkr9oXoAA1VEF?format=jpg&name=medium

Oh no...  Marina Shafir is going to wrestle.  😞

(The Bangles > The GoGo's.  I will not be taking questions on this matter.  Thank you.)

Enjoy the week!

Well yeah. Statlander flipping off the Death Riders pretty much guaranteed we'd be getting Shafir in a world title program, didn't it?

I’m still saying Shayna debuts soon and that’s the WrestleDream match. Ain’t no way Marina gets that. Mox needs to ease up on the creative control if she does, that’s crazy (and I’m not even an in-ring Marina hater! She’s average to decent on the indies).

The universal Shafir hate here makes me sad. I'm always fascinated by how weird and idiosyncratic her work is, even if it comes across as clunky. Her matches always remind me of the weird one-off Battlarts matches where one guy is trying to work shoot style and the other guy has only ever worked deathmatches or whatever.

AEW's YouTube channel has posted a post saying AEW Dynamite 6 Year Anniversary is two and a half hours. Wanted to let you know about that. Cheers.

Things I Remember From This Week's Episode of AEW Dynamite:

watched the second hour after the Yankees/Red Sox game ended

Hangman and Samoa Joe are mad at each other now

I misheard Wrestledream as Wrestletree once. Wrestletree being a wrestling themed discount store.

Toni Storm going through things to get a rematch

Imagine signing up a dude to work for ICE who saw your ad during a wrestling show

Apparently Andrade is the Jeff Jarrett of our times

Fun Eddie promo

Man, this arena/theater looked empty. It's partly due to the color of the building being so yellow. It's also partly due to empty seats on the hard cam.

After the MVP talk segment to issue a challenge, I realized this show was 30 minutes longer than I was expecting and that the main event wasn't a GOA match

Some fun crowd brawling early in the actual main event

Thumbtacks with a barefoot woman in the ring is a very niche fetish

Staredown, smile and a fight

Obligatory Deathrider beatdown to end another show

Oh that's PAC, not a random crew member clearing out chairs before hitting a move on Darby, the shirt threw me off

The Bucks having a gambling problem is a story I can get behind.
Wow, they actually showed Punk in that montage!
Does Andrade coming back mean they'll re-hire Jose The Assistant?
What a weird time/way to debut ClØn. It was strangely similar to how Sin Cara Negro debuted. Also, they kinda blew it as you could easily see he was wearing ClØn's pants, not Hologram's.
Is Mortos not in LFI any more?
And TIME TRAVELIN' AL PEREZ as a security guard!

I'm glad that AEW learned from when they immediately hired Jeff Hardy after he was let go by WWE for wellness/disciplinary reasons and it turned out that no he wasn't playing 4d chess he had serious issues, hope Andrade's issues are less pressing and that AEW actually looked into things this time before putting pen to paper.

Is that the storyline? I missed the first hour due to Yankees/Red Sox. I could also get behind the Bucks being complusive gamblers. Maybe have some vignettes of them at Gamblers Anonymous meetings and Excalibur plugging 1-800-Gambler if you or someone you know has a gambling problem.

A couple things that were hard not to notice.  One, the crowd sure seemed quiet and it sounds like attendance wasn't what it should be.  Not sure of whatever circumstance leading to that but them doing "What?" chants during Toni's promo leads me wanting to not see them do that location again.  It dulled the effort that was being put out and made it hard to watch at times.  Another thing of note is as much as I love hearing Danielson on commentary a full-time role might not be it.  You can't put him on Collision because Nigel and there seems to be an air of awkward professionalism with him and Taz that was noticed before, during and after All Out.  He might have been better served doing occasional matches instead of the whole show.  It's like Excalibur is directing traffic which I'm sure helps them but it just feels off.  Even attempts to get Taz to joke were met with nothing.  The first hour helped cover for it but it was apparent in the second hour on.  And to pile it on it was easy to tell this was a setup episode for next week and it felt like a "lesser" show as a result even though cool things happened.

Anyway, the first hour was lots of fun and I feel I might at least need to rewatch the rest as I was distracted by what I mentioned above.  Either way it's pretty wild we're at 6 years as the first episode feels like yesterday.  What a long, wonderful trip it's been.

Also, I'm thankful I don't watch this on cable or Max if it was on there but a fucking ICE commercial is horrible.  It shows me that they're so desperate due to low morale and people dropping out that they're looking for any ol' racist shithead.  I almost wanted to say something a bit on the violent side but I'm not stooping to those fucks' level.  I know Hangman linked to the feedback form which is wonderful but it might be worth forgetting about Max and use a VPN plus Triller to get AEW+.  No stupid commercials plus you get commentators goofing off during breaks.

EDIT:  I know this post seems pretty negative but I'm actually not in a bad mood.  I love AEW to bits but figured if I don't say it now I'm not saying it at all.

If you think Andrade wasn’t going to be welcomed back, then you weren’t paying attention in 2023 when he left anyway. TK had nothing but nice things to say about him and publicly said he’d hire him again. Malakai & Miro, not so much.

Hot start with the opening trios and Andrade's surprise return. Had me hoping for a more epic ending to the show but it was a rather weak finish and then just kinda ended.

More evidence Hangman Adam Page is one of wrestling's good guys. I remember when he burned Kane, pun intended.

THAT'S MY WORLD CHAMPION!!!!!!!!  FUCK YEAH, I LOVE HANGMAN!!!!

Spoiler

Real talk I had a few to celebrate 6 years because this promotion means so much to my wife and I.  I feel weird about saying AEW is the "the woke company".  One, fuck the woke term since it's been bastardized.  But two, it's kinda true and I love every single person who feels free to express themselves in that way either at shows or online.  More than anything beyond wrestling AEW has fostered a fanbase that is free to just be them and I love them so, so, fucking much more than I can ever properly convey.

Side note, Bluesky does not respect the artists the way we would love.  They're great for what they are but need to hold themselves to a better standard.

Edit:  Thoughts from Thursday morning:  The more I think about it the more it pisses me off.  For the love of fuck if so compelled please send feedback.  But on top of that get a good VPN, subscribe to AEW+ on Triller and forget about using Max.  It's worth it.  I know it happens on other channels but there's no reason to accept having to watch this at all.

I'm having a bitch of a time staying focused while I'm watching the show. That recruitment propaganda is part of the reason why, combined with everything related to it. It's hard not to despair about it every day.

Thank you, Hangman.

Yeah. I was really put off by the repeated ICE bullshit because it was every single commercial break and I couldn't skip past it because HBO Max is dumb as fuck and if you start watching from the start in the middle of the show, then you're stuck having to watch most of the commercials. It was so gross.
