Curt McGirt Posted October 8, 2025 Posted October 8, 2025 Getting back to Dr. D, didn't he say him and Hogan were gonna have a program? And could he have had a chance in Japan? They sure as hell didn't care if he wore a swastika shirt, and he had to have worked stiff enough for them.
odessasteps Posted October 8, 2025 Posted October 8, 2025 (edited) I can see Dr D being ione of those guys who didn’t want hassle of going to Japan, even for the money. Edited October 8, 2025 by odessasteps

I remember as a kid really it was one of my favorite things on WCW before he left. I enjoyed the flock too but it would have been nice if he eventually got to work matches. He was too nice to really get over in WWE. I could see Russo trying to push him or do something with him if he was around longer in '99 , '00 considering Russo was the one advocating to bring in all those ECW talent that came in to WWF around the time he left
odessasteps Posted October 8, 2025 Posted October 8, 2025 You can def see that listening to him talking about his wwf tenure.

Schultz had a run of matches with Hogan in 1984, I can’t see them going back to him in 1985 when you had fresh heels rolling on every few weeks. Also, even before the Stossel incident Schultz was being pushed down the card jobbing to Tony Atlas and on the night of the slap he basically got squashed by Inoki. 1
Curt McGirt Posted October 9, 2025 Posted October 9, 2025 Well Inoki wasn't gonna lose to anyone of course. Here's a thought while I'm watching Kevin Knight fight FTR Bald on Collision: has there ever been a situation where opposing sides of tag teams fought singles matches, and then a rubber match with both teams? You could even split the singles matches between both sides to have four whole singles then the tag to decide. (I... I probably shouldn't give Coach TK any ideas.) 1

I feel that was the part of the lead-up to one of the first 2 TLCs in WWF, singles matches between members of the three teams.

You know, it needs a name...something catchy. It's got teams so that's gotta be in there. It's challenging to win so many matches....in a series.... Team Challenge Series 2026. Come on TK 3

(and Paul Ellering when he managed the harris twins)

(Most notably that Hulk was a horrible person.) Also when she incredulously says it's "Gorilla's air punch" you can see he chops Hogan *real* good. I know Gorilla was a pro, but that definitely stung. Also, lol at the Wild Samoans pretending not to speak English. That's the best bit. I wonder what it would have taken back then to get a worker to drop kayfabe. Like, how good a friend did you have to be to know who Terry & Gino actually were or was that something saved exclusively for The Boys and significant others. 3

This photo from 1972 or so might be as close as they ever got to breaking kayfabe. And even then they could spin it as Vince threatening to blackball them if they couldn't "just pose for one stinking photo, goddammit!" 2

That picture works due to Pedro and Stasiak both looking like they don't want to be there. The heels and faces can't interact in public no matter the circumstances was nonsense and the level Bill Watts made everyone take it to was preposterous. If a non-feuding heel and face are in the same bar why should it be an issue? They're supposed to be prize fighters, why are they supposed to dislike or fight each other for free if they have no beef? 3

Shot in '99 with Stevie and Meanie but never aired. The whole late 80s/early 90s concept of "COMPUTERS~!" as a panacea, as magic, is exactly how we as a society are looking at AI now. "Terry Taylor is unbeatable because Alexandra York can ask the computer for the perfect strategy to win" is the same as "we can just ask AI to work on a cure for cancer!" I swear I saw one Blond Bytch Project vignette on Sunday Night Heat. Checking as I write this...yes, Wrestlecrap says the first ep aired and then McMahon told Russo to forget about it because he didn't get it. 3
Cobra Commander Posted October 9, 2025 Posted October 9, 2025 Really the problem with a non-feuding face and heel interacting is that in Bill Watts kayfabe, if Bobby Eaton and Hacksaw Duggan interact, well Bobby shares a locker room with people who are in an on-screen feud with Duggan and Duggan shares a locker room with people who are in an onscreen feud with Eaton/Condrey/Cornette. But yeah Watts didn’t consider the concept of feuding sides just ignoring each other if they were in the same store. So which current large wrestler would have the best dropkick if they threw one. I don’t watch much WWE but if Otis threw a dropkick, I’d think that the crowd would pop for that and Otis seems like a very athletic large man who Jim Ross would have sent to fat camp. Once again, it’s possible Otis has been throwing dropkicks and I just never saw it. Speaking of dropkicks, only a few weeks until the start of Scorpio’s trial a county north of me. The trial for Scorp stabbing a man at a Love’s Truckstop in June 2024. Just thought to check that with the Mark Sanchez stabbing in the news. 1
