RIPPA Posted October 10, 2025 Author Posted October 10, 2025 The Angels and Albert Pujols are in discussions to make Pujols their next manager
Cobra Commander Posted October 12, 2025 Posted October 12, 2025 Various Giants managerial rumors: https://sfstandard.com/2025/10/09/nick-hundley-buster-posey-giants-manager/ Nick Hundley and Brandon Hyde mentioned. The author also namedropping Craig Albernaz, Rickie Weeks, George Lombard, and Luis Rojas.
RIPPA Posted October 13, 2025 Author Posted October 13, 2025 The Tigers announced that they signed AJ Hinch to a "long term extension" but didn't specific how long the extension actually was. It was actually done earlier this season but the organization only announced it today.
RIPPA Posted October 13, 2025 Author Posted October 13, 2025 Mike Shildt has announced his retirement So the Padres gig is suddenly now open
Cobra Commander Posted October 13, 2025 Posted October 13, 2025 Padres job opening up in an offseason where two former Padres managers are now unemployed (would be a surprise if either went back to the Padres) Bob Geren feels like a dark horse candidate if the Padres absolutely value Geren being a long term Dodger coach and a San Diego native and a bunch of younger candidates don’t impress them. Although I guess the Padres being owned by an estate means that their ownership being the grandchildren of Walter O’Malley won’t play into the decision
odessasteps Posted October 13, 2025 Posted October 13, 2025 Love to see Bruce come back. Wouldnt expect it.
RIPPA Posted October 13, 2025 Author Posted October 13, 2025 I think - as per usual with anything involving the Padres right now - is it comes down to how much are they willing to spend Both on a manager and on the club
Cobra Commander Posted October 13, 2025 Posted October 13, 2025 some people speculating that Nick Hundley might prefer the Padres over the Giants now
odessasteps Posted October 14, 2025 Posted October 14, 2025 Billie Jean King posted that her brother, former MLB pitcher Randy Moffatt, passed away a few weeks ago.
Cobra Commander Posted October 15, 2025 Posted October 15, 2025 the Mets hired Kai Correa to be their bench coach and impending interim manager
Dolfan in NYC Posted October 15, 2025 Posted October 15, 2025 Alex Bregman is opting out of his deal with Boston.
hammerva Posted October 15, 2025 Posted October 15, 2025 You know it is rough for your team when you are getting trolled by the Pope
Craig H Posted October 16, 2025 Posted October 16, 2025 The Pope would know a lot about the White Sox since they're so far at the bottom they might as well be in hell.
Dolfan in NYC Posted October 16, 2025 Posted October 16, 2025 Phillies fans, do not worry. Your entire coaching staff WILL return next season, as confirmed by Dave Dombrowski. HOWEVER!!!! They will have a new person there in a new role: Major League Field Manager. What is it? Who knows! Also, Rob Thomson has been given a one year extension on his contract.
Dolfan in NYC Posted October 17, 2025 Posted October 17, 2025 Well, it looks like Detroit's offer to keep Tarik Skubal was $1? I look forward to seeing him go 30-2 with a 0.91 ERA for LA in 2027.
RIPPA Posted October 17, 2025 Author Posted October 17, 2025 For context Quote Much will be made of the more than $200MM gap between those two numbers, but that doesn’t consider the timing of Detroit’s offer. The front office certainly wouldn’t be under any illusions now that a sub-$200MM proposal would be close. Their previous offer came when Skubal was two years from free agency and before the Crochet precedent. It wasn’t clear last offseason that Crochet would command as strong a deal as he did. That contract was nearly $50MM above the previous top extension for a pitcher with between four and five years of service time (Jacob deGrom’s $120.5MM deal with the Mets from 2019). The Red Sox certainly don’t have any regrets after Crochet’s dominant ’25 season, but that deal pushed the extension market dramatically forward. While it’s not clear precisely what Detroit had offered, it’s safe to presume it was north of the deGrom extension and would have been a record within his service class before the Crochet signing. The Tigers must have hoped Tarik's agent was as stupid as Ronald Acuna's Oh that's right - Skubal's agent is Scott Boras
Tabe Posted October 17, 2025 Posted October 17, 2025 I haven't even watched the trailer yet and I'm already interested: 1

Cobra Commander Posted October 18, 2025 Posted October 18, 2025 the Giants next manager might be.... Tony Vitello.... who is the head coach of the University of Tennessee Volunteers baseball team, and who has never played or coached in the Major Leagues In other news, guess why the Giants are gonna be firing Tony Vitello in 2 1/2 years 2
RIPPA Posted October 18, 2025 Author Posted October 18, 2025 Related to that - apparently Nick Huntley is deciding to stay with the Rangers and won't be taking any managerial position Obviously one could argue its easy to say that if no one is offering you any gigs
odessasteps Posted October 18, 2025 Posted October 18, 2025 I asked Beau if he had heard that rumor and he hadn’t.

Someone's lying or the Tigs are run by a literal group of clowns.
Travis Sheldon Posted October 18, 2025 Posted October 18, 2025 I just wanted to let you guys know first that I will not be accepting any managerial positions at this time. 1
