Welp - here we go

The Giants are starting Jaxson Dart on Sunday

I dunno if Dart is ready but Russ sure isn't.

I had a funny interaction with him at The Arnold Classic of all places.  We were there for a UFC fight that weekend and just walking around the convention and an unassuming guy has a bunch of people around him.  After the people leave, he comes and stands next to me, checking out an exhibit.  So, I look and ask, "are you famous?"  He says, "I'm Rudi Johnson."  I then asked, "Really?," because he wasn't the biggest guy.  He looked and sarcastically said something to the effect of, "If I was lying, I would have said I was LaDainian Tomlinson," and just strolled away.  He delivered the line in a perfect deadpan, and knew it hit.  His peak was short, but he was really good for three years.

In other Giants news - they signed Younghoe Koo to the practice squad because Graham Gano is always getting hurt so they need a backup kicker to miss kicks

I watched some Bill Simmons the other day, heard about a disturbing trend, and if anyone here starts calling Daniel Jones "Indiana", I hope Rippa bans you for life.

(Full disclosure: I love those three movies (AHEM, YES, THERE WERE EXACTLY THREE) but Indy was a kid toucher, so I'm not objecting out of some weird sense of nostalgia because he should be no one's hero; I just think Daniel's not remotely good enough to be a nickname guy and it's not a particularly creative one anyway)

I really need to know how many people read that part of the script and just kept reading like it didn't happen.  I feel like that should have set off alarm bells to any editor on earth.

SF is confirming that Brandon Aiyuk is "not close" to returning.

So, that 4th rounder you spent on him in your fantasy draft is looking "not close" to being good.

And just like that, someone in my work league just traded Brandon Aiyuk for Drake London.  He also traded Christian Kirk for Justin Jefferson and Juwan Johnson for Brock Bowers.  There may or may not be a fight.

Forget whether or not he's good enough for a nickname, he already has a pretty good nickname! Danny Dimes!

(Though the Indiana Jones stuff is pretty cute in Tom Grossi's videos.)

I just came across an Instagram reel where they ask Deion Sanders his welcome to the NFL moment.  His first game he returned a punt for a touchdown, went to the mall after the game, bought the entire punt return team and the special teams coach Gucci watches and told them, "I just want y'all to know what time it is."  Imagine this dude is your dad telling you how to navigate the NFL like any of the rules that apply to you applied to him.

Also a great lesson in, "Why I'm a dumbass who has to hawk every product that comes across my agent's desk when I'm 60 and otherwise gainfully employed."

Much like I said to @Tabe about Greg Olsen putting up with Dave Portnoy.  Just because you don't need the money doesn't mean you don't want the money.  Marshall Faulk told a story about how he went to Deion Sanders' house and his first thought when he looked around was, "damn, he made baseball money."  Never forget, he got drafted by the Yankees in 1988, before his last year at Florida State where he played football as a walk-on.  He's been making professional sports money for damn near 40 years, he's just not the type of person who is turning down a paying gig.  Me personally, let me make enough money to retire, I won't even put in my two weeks.  I'll just leave and never come back.

Both Jayden Daniels and Terry McLaurin will be out for Washington this Sunday

They will still probably beat Atlanta by 24 because I can't have nice things

I would do the same if I thought my wife and my coworker friend wouldn't be disappointed in me.

This is the most Mike Tomlin 4th quarter ever.  This Steelers game was over and did everything possible to let the Vikings win this one.  Luckily for me the Vikings had Carson Wentz on the final drive
