GodzillaPerez Posted September 22 Posted September 22 Well, no one left their seat around me despite having to walk down stairs from the 37th floor of my hotel when the fire alarm went off and the elevators were closed so special thanks to the body wash at the One King West hotel and whatever deodorant my wife bought me. Joe and Hobbs vs The Workhorsemen was fun. Hobbs being a body slam machine was hilarious and Joe is always a treat to watch. Garcia vs Shibata was good. The crowd hated Garcia although I think being from Buffalo had a lot to do with it. I'm normally never a fan of people popping up from piledrivers but it worked in this case. Trios match was too short to be good or bad. Cool I got to see Hologram live. Hated the Tailgate Brawl. Sloppy, messy and everyone looked bad. I would have much preferred a normal 4 vs 4 tag. Being Sens fans, my buddy and I booed the Wendel Clark cameo but popped for Bubbles/The Green Bastard. I enjoyed FTR vs C&C. Didn't mind Cope going full Cena because you gotta give the hometown crowd what they want. Adding Beth and her getting beaten down kind of just feels like a rehash of the Judgement Day feud and Stokley is no Rhea Ripley although to be fair, I haven't seen him dressed in all leather. Eddie vs Big Bill had me more impressed with Big Bill. As happy as I am that Kingston is back, there's definitely some ring rust and the finish was bad. I thought Jericho was returning when the lights went out making it the first time in a long time I was happy to see Hook. Briscoe vs MJF ruled. Every movement and bump truly meant something although I'd hate to be someone who had to buy thumbtacks in Toronto for the next day or so. MJF putting the tables back under the ring was such a great easy way to get heat. Happy to see Briscoe win, get him in a world title program please and thank you. Trios was fine but didn't need to be on the card. There was no one to cheer for so I didn't really care who won. Riho vs Mercedes was also fine but the finish was forgone. Could have cut 2-3 minutes as well. United Three Way was great. Dorada came off as a star and I look forward to more Okada vs Takeshita interactions. Coffin match was decent. I'll never be a fan of stabbing spots unless a 400lb Sudanese but actually Canadian man or a 200lb Japanese lady-demon is doing them but Darby took some nutty bumps and it didn't feel like it went 20 minutes. Pac kinda looks like a dork in clothes, get him back in gear only immediately. The Women's Title 4 way was pretty good. Happy for Stat. Interested to see where Timeless Toni goes from here. 4 team ladder match was fun but had too many moments of me yelling "Grab the belts stupid!" Great to see Alexander and Bailey in a prime ppv spot after seeing them in dozens of indie shows in the same city. Also was pretty jazzed to see Hechicero live. I hated Jack Perry's heel run and have never really been high on Luchasaurus but I popped pretty hard for the reunion and even harder for the return of "Tarzan Boy". I was also at Forbidden Door 2023 when Jungle Boy first turned and stopped using "Tarzan Boy" so it was a nice bookend to see live. Page vs Fletcher would have been so much better if it was 10 minutes shorter. Really not a fan of tombstones and brain busters on the floor being treated like nothing. It was good but I don't think anyone actually bought Fletcher winning and I was getting tired and thinking about getting Shake Shack with my wife after. (Double Smokeshack Burger with a chocolate and vanilla shake. Very good, just behind Culver's when it comes to fast food burgz) Great show and a great crowd. I give the show a solid 8/10 and it would have been higher if they cut the trios, Kingston-Large William and some time off the main. Thank you for being worth going down 70 flights of stairs AEW. You know it's a good show when you honestly didn't notice the lack of Omega, Ospreay and Swerve which says a lot about their roster. 4

Sheeeeyit, Craig done beat us all in the writing length. I feel like not even doing a spoiler tag anymore. Please tell me Darby didn't watch Mr. Pogo vs. Matsunaga and wants his head set on fire or something.
The Natural Posted September 23 Posted September 23 (edited) Full show thoughts: Liked most of Adam Copeland/Christian Cage vs. FTR. Hated the finishing stretch with Cope kicking out of a bell shot, Spike Piledriver and Shatter Machine but one Spear puts down FTR. Cope survives two on one with Cage taken out of commission. Glad to see Eddie Kingston back vs. Big Bill. Shame about the botched finish with the spinning back fist whiff. Didn't like Hook getting involved in the post match. Give Eddie Kingston his moment. Best things about Mark Briscoe vs MJF: The tease of the tacks spots which meant more when both went in especially MJF as you wanted him to get his comeuppance and Briscoe finally picking up a big win. Hurt Syndicate vs. The Demand was fine/just there. I'm a big Mercedes Mone fan dating back to her Sasha Banks days but I thought her match with Rhio was her weakest big profile match in AEW but I'm a low voter on Riho. Mone is soon to be the longest AEW TBS Champion ever. Kazuchika Okada vs. Konosuke Takeshita vs. Mascara Dorada was my MOTN. Dorada the MVP and the brief teases of Okada and Takeshita going at it makes me excited for their inevitable high profile singles match. 550 days as AEW Continental Champion for Okada, 71 as AEW International Champion. Jon Moxley vs. Darby Allin was wild. Chuckled at Mox fumbling for the blade in his pocket. Big surprise seeing PAC wearing street clothes and short hair. Shame he's so injury prone. Enjoyed Timeless Toni Storm vs. Kris Statlander vs. Jamie Hayter vs. Thekla. I had a sneaky feeling this was a four way so Storm could drop the AEW Women's World Championship without getting pinned/submitted but actually she was. Storm sold the shock well. Storm should have dropped it in a singles match and I'm pissed we didn't get Storm vs. Hayter during her reign. Wanted to see them go at it again since Full Gear 2022. Glad Brodido beat The Young Bucks, JetSpeed and Hechicero/Josh Alexander to retain the AEW World Tag Team Championship. I was fading during this Ladder match. Jack Perry sucks. Don't care about Jurassic Express reuniting. Great main event in Hangman Adam Page vs. Kyle O'Reilly for the AEW World Championship but it didn't need to go 38 minutes. Knock 10 off. I think it might be the second longest PPV match in AEW history. Definitely one of. Bryan Danielson did a brilliant job on commentary. Edited September 23 by The Natural 5
ExcellenceofAirPollution Posted September 23 Posted September 23 what is this trading card game that disqualifies players for bad hygiene? I thought that was a prerequisite 2

Okada winning seems obvious because it made the most sense, but this strongly progressed the Takeshita rivalry and ultimate split from the Callis fam. Plus, the match was awesome and i loved it. I'll just echo EoAP's thoughts: On 9/22/2025 at 9:43 AM, ExcellenceofAirPollution said: Triple Threat was INCREDIBLE and also possibly my MOTN. Star making performance by Dorada, definitely need to see more of him in AEW after this. This match accomplished everything it set out to do and elicited multiple HOLY SHIT and wild markouts from me. Incredible execution of really high level stuff by all three men 21 hours ago, Craig H said: the Demand? AEW's batting average for faction names really sucks as of late. At least we're not getting goofy spelling for the faction names, but the faction names are by and large so bland. TK, I know you or your surrogates read this board - DON'T DO A FIRE MATCH. For the love of the safety of these guys, don't do it. agreed on faction names. CRU? the Opps? the Demand? Paragon? the Conglomeration? every single one of these names suck. and i agree. for the safety of the participants, TK should not book a fire match. but if he does, you can bet your ass i'm gonna be watching. 2 hours ago, The Natural said: Liked most of Adam Copeland/Christian Cage vs. FTR. My MOTN was the thumbtack match. Sometimes i think i'm a bloodthirsty ghoul because i tend to like the bloody gimmick matches. But then i contemplate how i'm not into the indy deathmatch scene at all. i guess i'm just a weirdo. I'll second what Curt said: On 9/20/2025 at 7:59 PM, Curt McGirt said: Of course my match of the night would be the bloodiest, but not just cause of that, but because Mark got his revenge for Max denigrating the memory of his dead brother. Guys getting penetrated with thousands of thumbtacks. Can't beat it. The blood splotch on MJF's crotch is something you can show people not into wrestling and they will probably look at you like you have two heads. i also really liked the main event, but i've spent way too long on this post already, so i'll leave it at that. 3

Zimbra Posted September 23 Posted September 23 I think The Opps is not bad, but only really made sense when Hook was in the group since it's zoomer slang. Conglomeration is good in the context of the promo where Mark Briscoe came up with it. 1

ka-to Posted September 24 Posted September 24 I was drawn in to the ladder match and thought that it was great. I usually dislike ladder matches and think that the ladders should only be used to jump off of in wrestling. I'm always happy to see Riho and I'm starting to think that CEO is pretty good. I thought that Fletcher should have gotten a long build and be given the championship in a year or so. They did good enough that he should be easily rebuilt to win it in the future. They did have way too much out of the ring stuff with tables and whatever else. Enforce the rules including count outs. Save the plunder for one or two matches. Have a deathmatch tournament if you want to use that shit all night. 1

NikoBaltimore Posted September 24 Posted September 24 Was bummed I missed the show but our vacation was sorely needed. Massive thanks to AxB for streaming that day. I was going to hold off on reading here until I saw the whole show but Dynamite is tonight and at this point fuck it I'll get spoiled. I'm glad Stat won, happy for JE reuniting and Baltimora, and it's neat Pac returned. Finding out whatever doesn't dull my looking forward to seeing the rest of the show but I'll do that in parts. I did however see the first three matches. I honestly didn't know who C&C ran into but I was amused anyway. The match was a good WWE-style match that fell apart at the end but overall enjoyable. I groaned at the Cena part because I'm anti-WWE now but it was a nice way of Adam paying tribute to Cena's upcoming retirement. I think the post-match means the feud leads to C&C partnering with another team to even the odds though don't know who that would be. Was ecstatic to see Eddie and Bill was certainly the right opponent for a return match. They have a better one in them and after the finish should run it back to redeem themselves. I wish commentary didn't say "He missed" as the "He didn't get all of it but it was enough" line is more effective. Having to backtrack was not fun. Briscoe/MJF was wonderfully bloody. Commentary did a great job going over how the tacks are detrimental for the wrestlers aside from the obvious pain. Of the three I enjoyed this match the most though looking forward to see how the rest go. 3
AxB Posted September 24 Posted September 24 To be fair, UFC and Boxing commentators have had the occasional "Big right hand misses the mark, but he goes down anyway... oh wait, it landed clean on the jaw LOL Oops!" moment. They could even try to sell it as Bill was ducking down to avoid strikes, so Eddy adjusted the trajectory in mid-air, and it landed at a position when Bill couldn't see it coming, and that's why he went out. If they wanted, they could do that.
tbarrie Posted September 24 Posted September 24 1 hour ago, NikoBaltimore said: I groaned at the Cena part because I'm anti-WWE now but it was a nice way of Adam paying tribute to Cena's upcoming retirement. Is that what he was doing, though? AEW for at least a few months now has been doing a thing where wrestlers will borrow their biggest rival's signature moves, even if that rival isn't involved in the match or even their current feud or storyline. For example, Hangman has borrowed one of Swerve's finishers a couple of times now, and Fletcher used a couple of Ospreay's signature moves against Hangman on Saturday. And since Copeland's greatest rival probably is Cena - this may have just been more of the same. 1 hour ago, NikoBaltimore said: I think the post-match means the feud leads to C&C partnering with another team to even the odds though don't know who that would be. True, but I would imagine that at the point they said "he missed it" they didn't know whether or not Eddie and Bill would just go ahead with the finish as if it had hit. Best they could do was take a guess. 1 hour ago, NikoBaltimore said: Briscoe/MJF was wonderfully bloody. I'm not really a fan of blood in wrestling, but it worked here. (It would have been more effective if AEW didn't use it so damn often, though.) 1

Curt McGirt Posted September 24 Posted September 24 What pissed me off worse than the whiff was Bill completely no-selling the first backfist, even getting up in the camera and yelling like it wasn't shit. Way to go dude. Then ducking the second one (watch it again) just made Eddie look bad period. Plus saying it hit the jaw... dude, that grazed the top of his head. Maybe. I almost wonder if that was all on purpose. The guy who talked to C+C was Bubbles, a character from the Canadian TV show Trailer Park Boys (big fan here). The Green Bastard is his pro wrestling character. From Parts Unknown!

If I'm not mistaken, didn't Edge and Cena have a TLC match in Toronto? I felt like, yes, it was obviously a tip-of-the-hat to Cena's retirement, but also something that may have been meant to reference that particular match too in the sense that, 20 or so years later, some of the same people at the AEW event were probably there for the TLC match. 1
