The Natural Posted September 15 Posted September 15 This is a loaded show. The Natural's five most anticipated matches: 5. FTR vs. Adam Copeland/Christian Cage. 4. Timeless Toni Storm vs. Jamie Hayter vs. Kris Statlander vs. Thekla. 3. Mercedes Mone vs. Riho. I nearly said Miro lol. 2. Darby Allin vs. Jon Moxley 1. Eddie Kingston vs. Big Bill. Honourable mention to Mark Briscoe vs. MJF. Most looking forward to Eddie Kingston's return vs. Big Bill. Kingston's first match since 11th May 2024 due to a tibial fracture, a torn ACL and a torn meniscus.
Curt McGirt Posted September 16 Posted September 16 If Thekla wins that fucking belt I will be so pissed. She can spider-crawl back to Japan far as I'm concerned. So if this is on Max, since I got HBO can I watch it? That would be KILLER. We do Discord live feeds but the screen isn't huge and I like to type at the same time as it's going on. Pretty loaded bill. PLEASE, Eddie, don't get hurt. 1

No one thing that will probably be a blow away match of the year, but so much good shit comin'. 1
Death From Above Posted September 18 Posted September 18 I'm 100% MJF loses to Mistico and honestly 99.9% he's losing to Briscoe too, what a weekend. Then he'll probably fuck off for a little bit for his honeymoon I guess. I hope his wife likes tack holes. 2
The Natural Posted September 18 Posted September 18 (edited) My PPV Predictions in bold. AEW World Champion Hangman Adam Page defends against Kyle Fletcher. Adam Copeland/Christian Cage vs. FTR. TBS Champion Mercedes Mone defends against Riho. AEW Unified Champion Kazuchika Okada defends against Konosuke Takeshita and Mascara in a three-way. AEW World Tag Team Champions Brodido defend against The Young Bucks, JetSpeed and Josh Alexander/Hechicero in a ladder match. The Hurt Syndicate vs. Ricochet and the Gates of Agony. Jon Moxley vs. Darby Allin in a coffin match. AEW Women’s World Champion Toni Storm defends against Thekla, Jamie Hayter and Kris Statlander in a four-way. Tables ‘n’ Tacks match: MJF vs. Mark Briscoe. --- Wouldn't be surprised if Timeless Toni Storm loses to Jamie Hayter or Kris Statlander. Wouldn't be surprised if the Young Bucks win. Dolfan in NYC Posted September 18 Author Posted September 18 I must be an idiot, because I had thought this show was included with your HBO Max subscription. It is not. (The price is $40 for subscribers.) 1
SturmCRF Posted September 18 Posted September 18 I somehow got this and Wrestle Dream as a two pack for £25 on Triller. That's barely more than a pound a match! 2

I also think Yuta/Marina are going to cause Stat to win by some sort of shenanigans. 1

I think it was just there in the Triller app. It'll be a sad day if and when Triller collapses because it's hard to run a viable business selling people GCW and Portugese football. 2

That makes sense, but if the plan was to put the belts on the Bucks, why book a four-way at all? After the Bucks pinned one of the tag champs to win that ten-man money match, the obvious thing to do would be to just run Bucks vs Brodido. Then again, with the Bucks involved the match would be a nonsensical spotfest anyway, so I guess why not make it a cluster ladder match? Those things are expected to be nonsensical spotfests. Also, Moxley beating Darby in Darby's signature match is a bold prediction, in my opinion. Edited September 19 by tbarrie

Really hope I'm wrong. Jack Perry beat Darby Allin in a coffin match at AEW All In 2024. Shit match only going 10:40 and such a stupid decision having Allin job in his signature match. I'm starting to think Jon Moxley wins the Coffin match. Really hope I'm wrong. Edited September 19 by The Natural
RazorbladeKiss87 Posted September 19 Posted September 19 Initially I thought Mox would lose and take a short break. I'm not 100% on board with it at thos point but it's what I'd like to see. I feel like MJF loses at Arena Mexico and in Toronto then goes on his honeymoon. Fletcher vs Hangman should be a banger and a loss for Fletcher can set up a big win down the road. 1
Zimbra Posted September 19 Posted September 19 Samoa Joe/Powerhouse vs Workhorsemen added to the tailgate brawl. 3

A Coffin match lends itself to interference, shenanigans, and a decisive winner, with neither Mox nor Darby eating a pinfall. If Darby wins, that's kinda the end. Mox winning keeps the feud going, and until we get the ultraviolet stick-sharp things-in-each-other match between Mox/Darby, it ain't ending.
Curt McGirt Posted September 19 Posted September 19 It would be really really funny if sometime somebody (say, in ROH) had a ladder match where the rules were you could only use the ladder to climb up and grab a belt. So it essentially becomes a Texas Death Match where you have to keep the opponent down long enough to climb up. It'd have to have a rule like when you manage to touch the opponent climbing up they have to come down and you restart, I suppose. "Tag! Restart! It's the rules!" That sounds utterly silly and really fun somehow.

Log Posted September 19 Posted September 19 It would be refreshing (to me, at least) to see a ladder match that had one ladder and that's it. 4

Curt McGirt Posted September 19 Posted September 19 16 minutes ago, SovietShooter said: Wasn't that really how the idea of the laddermatch began? Yeah. I was thinking of the Michaels/Razor matches actually and that's how this idea started, but then I thought "well what if they couldn't hit each other with the ladder either, instead of just not crashing through them and multiple ladders etc."
Curt McGirt Posted September 19 Posted September 19 I mean, I want there to be a rule where there is no two wrestlers on the ladder at the same time! No dual fight over the belt at the top in a ladder match, are you crazy? But it could be done.
AxB Posted September 19 Posted September 19 There was one indie ladder match in the 90s (I think it was in between Mania X and Summerslam 95, even) where they only had one ladder in the building... but they were doing spots with the ladder like Michaels/ Razor. And they broke the ladder in half... and the only way to win the match was to pull the belt down, which could only be reached via climbing the ladder. So basically the referee had to stand there holding half of a ladder upright while one guy climbed it. And ever since, the idea that you should have at least two ladders around for any given ladder match has been ingrained in wrestling logic.

Coffin matches are anything goes. If necessary, they can stick sharp things in each other tomorrow.
