Dolfan in NYC Posted September 4 Posted September 4 Begun... the promotion wars have. Welcome to HBO Max Pay Per Views! (Hey, they may actually need a new name for this. I'm rejoicing alright. AEW All Out 2025 will start at 8pm in the UK like AEW All In 2025. Much better than the usual 1am start. I wish all AEW PPVs would start at 8pm. This will go long like AEW All In 2025 did to counteract WWE PLE. 3

I think this is something lots of people are missing: One of the reasons All In did so well despite the afternoon start was the increase in buys from the UK. 1

Go2Sleep Posted September 6 Posted September 6 Darby vs. Mox in some kind of wild match is coming too, but I feel like lack of direction for the top two champs is holding the card back. E/C were my absolute faves back in the day, but their match against FTR isn't like Sting's final match in terms of carrying a show as a special attraction. I kinda feel like they're just gonna have Hangman tag with Kenny against Takeshita and Okada and advance that story. Toni vs. Thekla is about as good of a filler defense as there is for her right now. Oddly enough, though, some of AEW's best shows are when they look directionless and thrown-together at the last minute, so I'd be excited for this hypothetical card.

Darn you, you cursed Brits! But for real, I like that reasoning a lot more than the perception many have that it's because of WWE. 4

Casey Posted September 10 Posted September 10 They just crossed 10,175 so 2021 is no longer the highest attended All Out show. I still have the ‘21 edition as the best AEW show from top to bottom so we’ll see if this year passes it in terms of quality as well.

I thought for sure they'd be setting up the Elite reunion to take down the Callis Family long term. In terms of card dynamic (not anything else), Hangman/Fletcher feels a lot like Benoit/Orton at Summer Slam 04. 2
Death From Above Posted September 10 Posted September 10 Man that women's four way could be absolutely sick
The Natural Posted September 11 Posted September 11 I'm guessing Mark Briscoe picks a Dog Collar stipulation for his match with MJF. It's one of AEW's rarest match stipulations. It won't be Lights Out because it means it would have to go on last. I'd like to see AEW do a no ropes barbed wire match again. TNA managed to set ten up in the beginning/middle of the card and then got the ring back to normal again.
Go2Sleep Posted September 12 Posted September 12 What was I seeing on Dynamite about a triple threat for the unified title? I think I couldn't get past what looked like Okada having a qualifying match even though he's the champion.

The graphic made it out to be a mini-tournament but it's Okada having a title match and then there's 2 qualifier/eliminator matches leading to a triple threat with the winner at All Out. Okada defends against Michael Oku + Takeshita vs. Anthony Bowens on Collision this week and then Beast Mortos vs Mascara Dorada next week on Dynamite.

Were they clear then that if Oku beats Okada, he becomes champion and goes on to defend against two people at All Out? The tournament graphic suggested to me there wouldn't be a new champion until the mini-tourney was over, but I may have missed something on commentary. I mean, obviously Oku is not beating Okada, but that's still something the in-universe commentators should be clear on. 1
Dolfan in NYC Posted September 12 Author Posted September 12 Fightful is reporting the original idea for All Out was Page vs. Wardlow. But... Wardlow did the wrong cycle of whatever he's on and pec go boom. 1
Zimbra Posted September 12 Posted September 12 Sorry to Wardlow and all but that is a huge, huge upgrade 2

I don't think it was clarified on commentary, but afterwards in twitter posts with the match graphics @AEW "Michael Oku has beaten some of the sport's top names, and he'll collide vs arguably the best tournament wrestler ever @rainmakerXokada for the AEW Unified Title on #AEWCollision THIS SATURDAY NIGHT, + The winner will defend the belt in a 3-Way Match at #AEWAllOut, 9/20!"
Niners Fan in CT Posted September 13 Posted September 13 Agree that Fletcher in this spot is a lot better. He reminds me so much of a young Randy Orton but without the backstage bullshit. I don't think he should win it here but to look strong in defeat against Hangman will be a good look.
Go2Sleep Posted September 13 Posted September 13 Yeah Fletcher is Randy Orton look with Will Ospreay talent. He's set to be the biggest beneficiary of all the injuries anyway, but honestly an angle where unexpectedly wins the title would have a lot of potential with jealousy from the rest of his group. Playing it exactly like Evolution would be a big mistake for a lot of reasons, but that kind of surprise win would do a lot for AEW's match style and there are a lot of ways you could slow burn the jealousy with Okada or maybe even keep Fletcher heel with Takeshita getting the face push.
Casey Posted September 13 Posted September 13 I’m pretty sure Sapp clarified his post and said that Wardlow was planned for a future title match against Hangman and Fletcher was always the plan for All Out.
