Cobra Commander Posted September 2 Posted September 2 just finding out while reading HistoryOfWWE that Ric Flair had his own McDonald's coffee experience before the famous coffee spill (where the woman who sued was in the right): Quote 2/91: WCW World Champion Ric Flair was hospitalized for sustaining third-degree burns after having coffee spilled on him at McDonald’s. Flair was scheduled to miss a week but missed only one or two days. 1

Technico Support Posted September 2 Posted September 2 (edited) I imagine, after the spill, Flair begged off, then thumbed the McDonald's employee in the eye. And my first thought was to wonder how many of these old carny wrestlers would pull slip and falls and other cons for a quick payday. Edited September 2 by Technico Support 4
Elsalvajeloco Posted September 2 Posted September 2 No, Cornette has talked about guys getting color at their local Kroger. So yes, there are carnies. 2
Curt McGirt Posted September 2 Posted September 2 In the unauthorized ECW book it is strongly suggested without naming him that Fonzie broke his arm in the ring, then promptly went down to a local grocers and pulled some cans on top of him for a settlement, and to keep the cops from getting onto Paul E. Re: the T stand-up, poor Orndorff. "Some other guy" 1

Holy cow. And there is one thing I am not sure I should believe about the Mr. T story: Hogan getting the better of a fight with Piper.

Because McDonalds coffee was 180-190 degrees (and probably is still close to that but I’m sure the cups are better now) 2

Thanks, Curt! As soon as Elsalvajeloco mentioned it, I remembered somebody in wrestling had pulled a con at a grocery store. 2

FWIW, Wikipedia says Quote According to a 2007 report, McDonald's had not reduced the temperature of its coffee, serving it at 176–194 °F (80–90 °C), relying on more sternly worded warnings on cups made of rigid foam to avoid future injury and liability (though it continues to face lawsuits over hot coffee). However, in 2013, the New York Times reported that McDonald's had lowered its service temperature to 170–180 °F (77–82 °C). 1
odessasteps Posted September 2 Posted September 2 If you go back in the JC archives, you can prob hear Bolin discuss the meat scam he would pull on grocery stores.

The Natural Posted September 3 Posted September 3 Matt Riddle is a big piece of shit no showing a charity wrestling show in the UK for domestic abuse survivors and homeless veterans. Riddle hasn't returned the deposit. Deplorable. 1
Cobra Commander Posted September 3 Posted September 3 Riddle feels like a bad fit for that specific show unless he playing the main event heel on a card for domestic abuse survivors. Like how they had heels working the Ted DiBiase religious revival wrestling show. 1

Like how they had heels working the Ted DiBiase religious revival wrestling show. Over a decade ago Ted Jr was now running the Dibiase traveling church indie fed. They would find a church that wanted a show, tell them they could get WWE names. Which at the time always included Ted Jr,who would talk and maybe manage but not wrestle. GEt some older legend like Tully Blanchard to film a short testimonial vid that got played. Then the other WWE name/names depended on where they ran. I was on the coast for Coast Con and saw the indie that ran up near me was having a show in Picayune MS. At a church in a strip mall, right between a DG and a Piggly Wiggly. Back at this time this local indie worked with Luke Hawx's Wildkat Sports a pile. Advertised names was Ted Jr,Heidenreich and Luke Hawx. Ride over with two friends. Show was decent, this was right after Hawx had won the Extreme Rising title off Stevie Richards so he defended it against one of his students, who is now co owner of Wildkat. During intermission was getting a drink, and explaining to some of the guys why I was almost 4 hours from home at a show. And get told "Come have dinner afterwards I got a story for you." Now Picayune aint got much so dinner was at Taco Bell. Learned why Heidenreich didnt appear. "He showed up. Asked the church guy for more money. Got told no. Then refused to wrestle. Got told it was wrestle or dont get paid. Started crying about how he didnt have enough gas to make it home. So we passed the hat and got him 20 bucks for gas." Oh and the Church guy thought the Extreme Rising title was some "Deathmatch Hardcore blood stuff" so didn't want the belt defended. Someone talked him into it. 1
Sublime Posted September 3 Posted September 3 Why not just wrestle then if you need money for gas? Wrestlers don’t make sense to me.
