Kevin Wilson Posted September 1 Posted September 1 Dolfan doesn't care that Week 1 isn't even over yet.
Tabe Posted September 1 Posted September 1 To the surprise of no one, the NCAA has upheld the BS targeting call Michigan received against New Mexico. This means one of their starting LBs misses the first half against Oklahoma. I would expect Michigan to get the short end on every decision from the NCAA for awhile.
Tabe Posted September 2 Posted September 2 Court documents have revealed that a former Michigan player illegally accessed materials, lied to the NCAA about being ordered to not assist with the Stalions investigation, and secretly recorded a conversation with Stalions, which was then provided to a private investigator firm. Rumor is that the former player is Joey Velasquez, who played for Ohio last year during their championship season. If true, Velasquez would be ineligible, which would result in the vacating of all of Ohio's wins last year. If the documents are accurate, Michigan would have a strong case for appealing their penalties in court since the evidence against them was illegally obtained. Fun fact: Velasquez is the only Michigan player to lose in The Big Game this decade Things are gonna get juicy again.
Brian Fowler Posted September 2 Posted September 2 Also apparently is the person who cost Chris Partridge his job by falsely claiming he told players to lie to the NCAA. I highly highly doubt this results in any titles being stripped (much like with Michigan, even if the NCAA did vacate wins, they cannot vacate a national title. It would take the CFP, the AP, the coaches poll, the NFF etc etc all deciding individually to strip the title. Hence why even when the BCS took away the title from 2004 USC, the AP didn't so USC kept claiming it. However, it does really change the perception of Velasquez as being the rare guy fans of both schools could like. 1
hammerva Posted September 2 Posted September 2 If you want to see some next level "Stop he is already dead" shit posting after a win, the TCU football Twitter page is savage last night and this morning 1

hammerva Posted September 2 Posted September 2 The picture of Bill's post game conference surrounded by so many flowers and balloons that I wonder if they are doing a wedding afterwards is so funny. Please tell us Jordon set this up Starting to wonder if it isnt Bill but the entire college program isnt ready for the big time might be the actual issue
RIPPA Posted September 2 Posted September 2 Meanwhile - Mike Gundy is bitching that Oregon spends too much money on football
Mister TV Posted September 2 Posted September 2 Even though the only college team I follow is in the ACC(Pitt), I totally thought TCU-UNC was a conference game.

Brian Fowler Posted September 2 Posted September 2 For whatever reason, outside the schools that just moved last year, the P4 one I have the hardest time remembering what conference they are in is West Virginia.
BobbyWhioux Posted September 3 Posted September 3 Well there’s a good chance we’ll have to relearn it all again in another 5-10 years or so so perhaps we needn’t worry about who’s where now

Dolfan in NYC Posted September 3 Author Posted September 3 You ever see a take that's so breathtakingly stupid it's actually hysterical?
supremebve Posted September 3 Posted September 3 13 hours ago, Contentious C said: FIFY There is no way that the Big 10 and the SEC are still following the NCAA rules in ten years. The P4 conferences will completely remove themselves from NCAA oversight in the next few years.
Brian Fowler Posted September 4 Posted September 4 Last year, there were six regular season games that drew 10 million viewers. There were four last week. ABC got 10.8 for Miami/ND, 10.7 for Bama/FSU, and 10.4 for Clemson/LSU. Fox, meanwhile, got a week 1 record 16.6 million for Texas/OSU.
Brian Fowler Posted September 6 Posted September 6 Much like last year's week 2 Texas/Michigan game, this is the only the second time Michigan and Oklahoma have ever played each other. The last time was the Orange Bowl following the 1975 season (fun fact: Michigan playing in the Orange Bowl that year was the first time a Big Ten team ever played in a bowl other than the Rose.) The Sooners won 14-6, motivated by #1 Ohio State losing the Rose Bowl to UCLA, and claimed their second straight national title, There's a lot of talk about both teams having new highly sought after quarterbacks, but I expect a defensive struggle. The biggest question in my view is if Oklahoma's rebuilt offensive line (they were putrid last year) can hold up against Michigan's deep and talented defensive line. If Michigan can stop the run (Sooners run game was miserable last week, but Jayden Ott only carried the ball once and they had a couple banged up lineman sit out) and get pressure without blitzing, then I think Michigan wins. If they can't, I think it's Oklahoma's night. Also have my eyes on the CyHawk game, a surprisingly intriguing Illinois/Duke matchup, and, thank all that is good, the return of the Border War for the first time in nearly a decade and a half. 1
EVA Posted September 6 Posted September 6 Yeah, I’m thinking a close, low/scoring game in OU/Michigan. Despite all the focus on the QBs, I think both teams are going to do everything in their power to not have this game be decided by QB play. If Venables gets to put Underwood in a blender in obvious passing situations, that’s the ballgame. If it comes down to Mateer just freelancing, trying to make things happen by himself against Michigan’s defense, that’s the ballgame, too. This game could easily be 6-3 or something at halftime, as both teams try to ESTABLISH IT~!!! and not make killer mistakes early. And I gotta tell ya, Oklahoma did not look impressive in their ability to ESTABLISH IT~!!! against an FCS opponent last week. I’ve really found myself liking Michigan more and more as the game has gotten closer.
Brian Fowler Posted September 6 Posted September 6 So, Iowa brought in one is the most sought after QBs in the transfer portal, the 2023 Walter Payton award winner, the guy that would finally bring offense back to at least decent levels. Through two games, Mark Gronowski has completed 23 of 39 for 127 with a TD and a pick. As I saw someone say "You don't change Iowa, Iowa changes you." 2
Brian Fowler Posted September 6 Posted September 6 I did not have Kansas jumping out to a 21-6 lead on my bingo card.
