RIPPA Posted September 20, 2025 Author Posted September 20, 2025 Speaking of the Guardians - they are hot and the Tigers are not Detroit's lead in the AL Central is down to only 1.5 and the two teams play a three game series starting Tuesday
RIPPA Posted September 20, 2025 Author Posted September 20, 2025 Speaking of 30-30 members Jazz Chisholm homered to become only the 3rd Yankee to have a 30/30 season (the other two are Bobby Bonds and Alfonso Soriano - who did it twice) 1
RIPPA Posted September 21, 2025 Author Posted September 21, 2025 On 9/12/2025 at 12:24 PM, RIPPA said: Giancarlo Stanton is now one HR away from 450. He hit 449 which ties him with Jeff Bagwell and Vlad Sr on the all time list Mike Trout is now at 399 after snapping a career long drought - having gone 28 games without a HR Fittingly - both Stanton and Trout hit their milestone HRs last night
odessasteps Posted September 21, 2025 Posted September 21, 2025 The guy who caught Trout’s HR not only got signed stuff for the ball, but also got to have a catch with Trout after the game.
RIPPA Posted September 21, 2025 Author Posted September 21, 2025 The Blue Jays become the first AL team to clinch a playoff berth They are 2 games ahead of the Yankees with a week to play In fact all three AL races are close (2 games in the East and West, 1 in the Central)
RIPPA Posted September 21, 2025 Author Posted September 21, 2025 Also - the Reds now control their own destiny for the final NL WC That's right - the Mets now officially need help
Dolfan in NYC Posted September 22, 2025 Posted September 22, 2025 Also the Marlins swept the Rangers this weekend in a 4 game series. Look, I know the playoffs are probably gone... But finishing ahead of the Mets would be delightful.
odessasteps Posted September 22, 2025 Posted September 22, 2025 I just noticed Colorado has 43 wins. Good on them. 1
RIPPA Posted September 22, 2025 Author Posted September 22, 2025 If the Tigers don't win the AL Central, it would would be A) the biggest advantage blown by a team that did not win its division or league in modern AL/NL history and B) the Guardians would have completed the biggest comeback for a postseason berth in 125 years of modern AL/NL play. I should note that because of the Astros also folding - the Tigers could still sneak in as a WC 1
hammerva Posted September 22, 2025 Posted September 22, 2025 If the Mets don't make the playoffs this will probably get shown as Exhibit A many many times And this wasn't his only great catch on Sunday

odessasteps Posted September 23, 2025 Posted September 23, 2025 Post season baseball for the Swingin Friars.

RIPPA Posted September 23, 2025 Author Posted September 23, 2025 The Tigers DFAed Charlie Morton last week The Braves signed him yesterday Speculation it is because he is going to retire as a Brave (it is unclear if they will have him pitch one more time)
Hamhock Posted September 23, 2025 Posted September 23, 2025 (edited) ABS (automated balls and strikes) challenge system has been officially announced for next season - the particulars (essentially unchanged since Spring Training's test): Twelve (12) Hawk-Eye cameras set up around the perimeter of the field track the location of each pitch. If a pitcher, catcher, or batter disagrees with the umpire’s initial call of ball or strike, he can request a challenge by immediately tapping on his hat or helmet and vocalizing a challenge. Each club will start the game with two challenges, and all successful challenges are retained. Only the pitcher, catcher or batter may challenge an umpire’s call of ball or strike. Challenges must be requested immediately after the call, and players may not receive help from the coaching staff, other players, or anyone else. In each extra inning, a team will be awarded a challenge if it has none remaining entering the inning. The strike zone will be a two-dimensional rectangle that is set in the middle of home plate with the edges of the zone set to the width of home plate (17 inches) and the top and bottom adjusted based on each individual player’s height (53.5% of the batter’s height at the top and 27% at the bottom). Independent testers will measure players in Major League Spring Training using a standardized process. MLB will certify each player’s official height before that player may appear in any Major League game. That last sentence amuses me; there were considerable vanity heights/weights on the roster pages before this season began (at those players' requests), but not any longer. BobbyWhioux Posted September 24, 2025 Posted September 24, 2025 ugh you don't have to only have two challenges just because That's How Football Does It jesus fucking christ think for yourselves instead of having consultants and focus groups do it for you JUST ONCE. you're fucking baseball it should be THREE. Three strikes, three outs, three game series', three challenges. This Shit Isn't Hard. Well it is if you're stupid I guess (case in point.) 1
Dolfan in NYC Posted September 24, 2025 Posted September 24, 2025 Cleveland has officially moved into 1st in the AL Central. 1
Contentious C Posted September 24, 2025 Posted September 24, 2025 (edited) Just another ho-hum 30/30 season out of Jose Ramirez, whose career numbers currently resemble those of Chase Utley quite a bit (probably the last guy to be this good and also this under the radar). At least Ramirez appears less likely to get injured into irrelevance and has a second place MVP finish, though it seems like he'll never do any better than that with Judge, Witt, and others in the way. Edited September 24, 2025 by Contentious C
odessasteps Posted September 24, 2025 Posted September 24, 2025 I saw someone the other day say Ramirez is the best Cleveland player since Bob Feller and maybe ahead of him. 1
RIPPA Posted September 24, 2025 Author Posted September 24, 2025 The Yankees and Mariners both officially clinched playoff berths The Yanks have also moved to within a game of Toronto

For clarity's sake - the Guardians and Tigers are tied but Cleveland has secured the tiebreaker so.... the Tigers really need to win the next two games
Dolfan in NYC Posted September 24, 2025 Posted September 24, 2025 ONE PERSON WHO WON'T BE SEEING CLEARLY... That's David Fry eating a 99mph foul tip from Tarik Skubal. Although the video is horrifying, Fry appears to have avoided severe injury and was held in a hospital overnight for observation. Updates will be given by Cleveland later today.
RIPPA Posted September 24, 2025 Author Posted September 24, 2025 The Mets rallied to control their own destiny again They came from down 5 to beat the Cubs while the Reds lost to the Pirates It should also be noted that the Cubs have lost 5 straight and currently only lead San Diego by 1 1/2 games for the 1st WC
