RIPPA Posted September 14, 2025 Author Posted September 14, 2025 The Brewers are the first team to clinch a playoff berth this season They are assured at least a Wild Card
odessasteps Posted September 16, 2025 Posted September 16, 2025 Happy Finishing Above .500 Day to all those Padres fans who celebrate.
Contentious C Posted September 16, 2025 Posted September 16, 2025 Guess we have a chance of the first ever sub-.250 BA MVP. I don't think Schwarber will win because his defense is only going to hurt him. But both leagues are going to be close, and I wouldn't even be entertaining Raleigh that seriously if the Ms hadn't won 9 straight.
RIPPA Posted September 16, 2025 Author Posted September 16, 2025 In large part - thanks to the Mets epic meltdown - the Phillies become the first team to clinch a division this season

I would be highly surprised if Schwarber wasn't retained; the Phillies also have an owner who likes to spend money and he'll almost certainly do whatever it takes.

Really, the only thing he's got on Ohtani is a couple of homers. Raleigh has a better chance but then you look at Judge and he's hitting 80 points higher with 48 homers and...yeah, Raleigh ain't winning either. BUT, I wouldn't be stunned if he did.
RIPPA Posted September 17, 2025 Author Posted September 17, 2025 With their win today - the Cubs have clinched a playoff berth
Cobra Commander Posted September 17, 2025 Posted September 17, 2025 Raleigh might have a better MVP shot with the Mariners closing strong and if they win the division... even if the Yankees finish with a better record and a wild card

RIPPA Posted September 17, 2025 Author Posted September 17, 2025 One "quirk" to pay attention to - if Raleigh wins, he will almost certainly have the lowest BA ever for someone who wins MVP (non pitchers) The "lowest" was Ohtani in in 2021 (He finished at .257 - Raleigh is currently .247) Again - not that BA really matters but it is what it is
odessasteps Posted September 18, 2025 Posted September 18, 2025 I’ve had thought worries about BA went away around the same time of people having 200 K in a season and not being shamed like they were Dave Kingman.

Dolfan in NYC Posted September 19, 2025 Posted September 19, 2025 I'm not even sure why this pisses me off, but... yeah, they're right.
RIPPA Posted September 19, 2025 Author Posted September 19, 2025 Because the Mets collapse has been so bad - even the Marlins are still sniffing around the final NL WC Miami has gotten hot and has actually managed to close to 6 games of that final WC spot - they also close the season with three games at home against the Mets Now it won't happen because the Fish would also have to leap frog the Reds, Giants, D-backs and Cards but yeah... 1

supremebve Posted September 20, 2025 Posted September 20, 2025 Jose Ramirez had a down season and probably won't be in the MVP discussion, but he just hit his 30th home giving him his third 30-30-30 season. 1
Cobra Commander Posted September 20, 2025 Posted September 20, 2025 a guy listed at 5'9/190 having back to back 40 stolen base seasons in his 30s is something Jose Ramirez has a shot at 2500 hits. He's at 1659 right now and has averaged 174 hits per 162 from 2016 to 2025 and he just turned 33.
