RIPPA Posted September 1, 2025 Posted September 1, 2025 Justin Verlander has been bad this season So much so that the Giants let him throw 121 pitches in just 5 innings so he could get a win yesterday It is the second most pitches thrown in a game this season. Gavin Williams threw 126 in the game where he lost a no hitter in the 9th It is only his 3rd win of the season
SirFozzie Posted September 3, 2025 Posted September 3, 2025 The Astros are doing the imploding all over the place (TM Special1 TV) Catcher tries to tell pitcher to step off the mound, pitcher throws pitch anyway, gets hit for a grand slam. Later pitch sees the pitcher (apparently) deliberately crossing up the catcher and hitting him with a 100MPH fastball, and then immediately turning away. It'd be great, except, you know, the Yankees got a grand slam out of the whole thing.
Cobra Commander Posted September 3, 2025 Posted September 3, 2025 of the 36 players with 25+ HRs, Grisham's average xBA on his HRs is the third lowest (not counting that HR which had an xBA of .400 and was a HR in 5 ballparks), even as he hits better on the road. Good luck to any non-Yankee team signing Grisham with the hope that his 2025 is for real the player with 25 HRs and the lowest avg xBA is also an impending free agent. Cody Bellinger. Unless Scott Boras gets overruled and Bellinger picks up his player option
RIPPA Posted September 3, 2025 Author Posted September 3, 2025 So the benches cleared between the Giants and Rockies Rafael Devers hit a HR in the first inning Rockies starter Kyle Freeland thought Devers was showboating and started shouting at him Matt Chapman - who was on deck - charged Freeland So we had that awkward moment where the benches cleared while Devers was trying to round the bases Freeland, Chapman and the Giants Willy Adames were all tossed
Tabe Posted September 4, 2025 Posted September 4, 2025 There's video going round of the fan who caught Junior Caminero's 40th home run ball being detained, harassed, and threatened by Tampa security. Definitely not a good look for the team or MLB, assuming the video isn't hiding some important context.
Gorman Posted September 4, 2025 Posted September 4, 2025 Yeah, that looked bad, but the comments were saying the fan went out of the stadium and climbed back in, which is a no-no. 1
hammerva Posted September 6, 2025 Posted September 6, 2025 Speaking of questionable fan's behavior, we now have "Phillies Karen fan" last night. Which frankly calling yourself a "Phillies fan" and a "Karen" feels like the same but I digress. Needless to say that woman is going to have a miserable weekend if she is on social media in any form. You know it is bad when even Phillies fans are like "look at that bitch" Luckily the kid was able to get a ton of swag from this
sabremike Posted September 6, 2025 Posted September 6, 2025 Just now, RIPPA said: Davey Johnson has passed away In the 80's he lived in Pelham Manor where my dad was a police officer so they knew each other. My first Mets game was in 1984 and IIRC he comped my dad the tickets. The Mets proceeded to get destroyed 11-0 by the Pirates, and the next day my dad saw him and went "Davey, what happened last night?" (obviously in a non malicious more joking manner) and Davey was apologetic. The next Mets game I went to was a month later with Kent Rec, and that went much better: a 10-0 beating of the Cubs where Doc famously threw a one hitter and the only hit was a Keith Moreland bunt single. The 1986 Mets are the only team in the 5 major sports I have ever seen win it all in my lifetime. They only won it once, but it was arguably the most legendary championship in the history of the sport. RIP Davey. 1
Cobra Commander Posted September 7, 2025 Posted September 7, 2025 (edited) Dodgers had a no-hitter with one out to go, up three runs, and lost on a walkoff in Baltimore on the day commemorating Cal Ripken and the streak Edited September 7, 2025 by Cobra Commander
Contentious C Posted September 7, 2025 Posted September 7, 2025 And the last team to win a game after being no-hit for 8 2/3s was...the Dodgers.
odessasteps Posted September 7, 2025 Posted September 7, 2025 What a week for the NL West where the Dodgers and Padres get super cold and the Giants get red hot.
RIPPA Posted September 10, 2025 Author Posted September 10, 2025 Long before the Yankees bullpen threw up all over themselves, Aaron Judge hit his 359th career home run which moved him past Yogi Berra for 5th all time on the franchise list It had been Babe Ruth, Mickey Mantle, Lou Gehrig, Joe DiMaggio and Yogi Berra -- in that order -- since July 29, 1966. Side note - for as long and storied as the Yankees franchise has been around, they have the weirdest HR leaders Here is the list behind Berra - A-Rod, Bernie Williams, Jorge Posada, Derek Jeter Up until Aaron Judge showed up - Graig Nettles was in the Top 10
Dolfan in NYC Posted September 10, 2025 Posted September 10, 2025 Anthony Rizzo has announced his retirement. He'll suit up on Saturday for the Cubs and that will be his final game.
Dolfan in NYC Posted September 10, 2025 Posted September 10, 2025 Schwarbs hit #50 last night. And Kruk told everyone it was about to happen:

RIPPA Posted September 12, 2025 Author Posted September 12, 2025 Random HR milestone watches Aaron Judge hit two HRs last night and is now tied with Joe DiMaggio on the Yankees all time list Giancarlo Stanton is now one HR away from 450. He hit 449 which ties him with Jeff Bagwell and Vlad Sr on the all time list Mike Trout is now at 399 after snapping a career long drought - having gone 28 games without a HR
