Dolfan in NYC Posted September 1 Posted September 1 You should've been gone, knowing how I made you feel... And I should've been gone, after all, your words of steel... The Clash in Paris is in the record books! Who won? Who lost? There's a whole thread for that! Oh, I must've been a dreamer, and I must've been someone else, and we should've been over (over now) What happened though? Well, looks like we're finally getting the Two Man Power Trip '25! Oh, Sherrie, our love... Holds on, holds on. Oh, Sherrie, our love... Holds on, holds on! But hey, our flight back to Etats Unites isn't until tomorrow! So Raw is on THIS AFTERNOON~! 2PM start time in the US! Dirty Dom/AJ for the IC Title! (Oh he really thought he was about to be the biggest thing in the world... and then ... nothing.) Happy Labo(u)r Day! Enjoy the week! 2 1
peterien Posted September 1 Posted September 1 (edited) It’s probably because of a sense of attachment that i still check in on the programming by YouTube highlights but this is the first year i can remember where i hate the product. I hate the product placement, i hate the “moments” taking preference over long term storytelling, every match has interference now because they back themselves into a corner, the use of reaction from YouTubers/vloggers/influencers. It’s all just not for me. And to cap it all off Seth Rollins as the main heel and leader of a group (which he kind of said he didn’t need last night?) and is the A story on RAW, didn’t work the previous times they tried it and doesn’t work now. Adding Becky to the mix is just lazy booking. Rant over , but hey at least it’s another night of a great crowd. Edited September 1 by peterien 1
Eivion Posted September 1 Posted September 1 Kabuki Warriors vs. Raquel/Roxanne was mostly solid aside from a few off moments with the worst of them sadly happening at the finish. Guessing Roxanne and Asuka aren't used to each other at all as the flubs were mostly between them. Have to say I'm kind of digging Asuka being a possessive toxic friend to not just io but even Kairi. Its different from the norm and will hopefully get us Io vs. Asuka on a bigger stage eventually. Dragon Lee vs. Finn Balor was good. New Day/Grayson Waller vs. Penta/War Raiders was good fun. AJ/Dom was built into something good with Dom actually busting out some new moves while also managing to get decent heel heat for his attacking AJ before the bell rang. If not for the obvious with EGA I would have honestly thought AJ had a good chance of winning with how this played out. The Becky/Punk segment was pretty decent and actually got Becky heat despite the French crowd generally loving her. Jey/Knight vs. Bron/Bronson was solid. Was nice to see Jimmy make the save in the post match. Guessing we are getting a Vision/MFTs combo vs. Bloodline come War Games in November. Solid show wrestling wise. Finn/Dragon and AJ/Dom are both well worth checking out. Story side of the show was pretty decent as well. Liking the stories building in the women's division and the Vision stuff was fine. Decent show. 1
odessasteps Posted September 2 Posted September 2 Asuka has also been doing her own storyline stuff on kana Chan tv. 1
Peck Posted September 2 Posted September 2 Man, Paris loves AJ Styles. That was insanely impressive. 1
Niners Fan in CT Posted September 3 Posted September 3 I remember AJ Lee being really popular like 12 years ago but people are really nostalgic for that era? 1 1
odessasteps Posted September 3 Posted September 3 Maybe not people here, but whatever younger female fans that were around then are prob nostalgic for her.
Niners Fan in CT Posted September 3 Posted September 3 That's a good point, people like the Bellas also and they are awful.

Not the Era but Her YES!!!!! I went to a Card Show in town wearing my Shirt of Hers & 6 People came up to me asking if she was wrestling again.

Eivion Posted September 3 Posted September 3 Lash/Jaida built into something nice. Was nice to see Lahs in another decently drawn out match. Was pleasantly surprised to see her take the lead, controlling most of the match. Was nice comparatively to see Jaida have to play the defensive role with them properly acknowledging Lash with the size/strength advantage. Dug the finish as well. I did feel like the post match didn't need to happen. Could have waited a week or two for Jaida to get her revenge. Still a good showcase for both women. Xia/Candice was fine while lasted. Quick matches like Speed are almost always more of a tease though I suspect Candace and Fabi can put together something nice with each other and with Sol, whoever ends up challenging between them. The Trick segment with DIY was decent. Curious to see what we get between them. That DarkState promo was easily the best one they have cut so far. If the group did that form the beginning they would have worked better a lot sooner. Jordynne/Kali was solid. First time seeing Armstrong and she looked pretty decent if simple. Will be fun to see how she develops when she becomes a regular. I wish they did this sooner opposed to waiting to two months to follow up, but I'm glad it finally went down. The post match brawl with Jordynne and Blake was interesting. Kind of liked Blake getting a different look on her face as she sees her own blood. Hopefully it leads to something darker and harder in their next match. Chase/Briggs was pretty solid. Dug the crowd chants and hate for Briggs. It got Chase even more over whenever he made comeback attempts. Oba/Ricky/Hank/Tank vs. DarkState was pretty fun. Dug Oba showing a different side of himself, but also getting more more tired of putting up with Ricky as the match went on. The break down between them was predictable but done well. Loved the actual finish with hendry. That was a neat surprise. The wrestling was pretty decent and fun here with Lash/Jaida being MOTN for me. The story side was solid as well with some decent build for the next few weeks going into No Mercy. Solid show. 2
Peck Posted September 3 Posted September 3 Live look at WWE trying to shoehorn Cutler James in to Dark State: The Orlando pop is going to be huge when the other 3 turn on him. lol 1
Pete Posted September 3 Posted September 3 I am an old soul and if you're going to do a "heel female paint-brushes face male" angle, this needs to be the payoff.
Casey Posted September 3 Posted September 3 We can't have that, Dude Wipes might not want to advertise with them anymore!

I believe that. I had a couple friends and an ex that watched Total Divas and didn't know anything about wrestling.
username Posted September 4 Posted September 4 Simply to celebrate the fact that embedding pics is working once more, I cracked up that out of all pics to go with the Observer site decided to go with the most leg slapping one they could fine Ciampa looks so cautious there I just can't not laugh at it. 1

It's been an interesting choice for her and I wonder if due to the stalker she had so she doesn't do too much personal life stuff now. I'd love to see her kill it at games again though. That video of her smoking people's Mario Maker levels was cool. There's tons of people who got into WWE via Total Divas. I also had an ex who watched TD, then I showed her NXT which she liked and then she really got into Finn Balor (not as much as that one lady at those shows back in the day though).
odessasteps Posted September 4 Posted September 4 I'd think Asuka doing game stuff would be pretty neutral content. I could see weirdos obsessing all her food videos though.

Honestly, we (the board members) are dinosaurs to the current fan base. The guys our age are diehards who will pop for anything at this point. Lots of fans now grew up with her or are hearing about AJ as this amazing performer from an era they haven't seen. Exception to this are the midnight chokers watching NXT. But we know their deal.
Dolfan in NYC Posted September 4 Author Posted September 4 What we are are the parents and grandparents we had growing up telling you "Bruno Sammartino was the best ever", "Harley Race was such a son of a bitch", "Pedro Morales was the greatest thing to ever come out of Puerto Rico"... so we tell the tales of Batista, The Hardyz, HBK, Bret Hart, Trish, Lita.... and AJ. Kids are going to care about AJ Lee because she's CM Punk's wife first, a good talker second, and her being a "good wrestler in a bad time" last. (And not "Nikki Bella good", like actually good.) Re-watching this -- only Nattie and Naomi have the correct reaction, and the Bellas are actively trying to sabotage it. "Say it to our face." x500 (Yes, that's exactly what she's doing) The entire crowd is giving her a face pop on what should be a heel promo. I think she'll be fine working with Seth & Becky, both of who actually know what they're doing. The pop tomorrow in Chicago should be something else. 2

AJ also represents the mentality of "I'm not like OTHER girls" from her timeframe, and there isn't really anyone on the roster filling that niche now, so she's going to slide right back into that spot. 1
Cliff Hanger Posted September 5 Posted September 5 Went to bed early Tue, just got to NXT tonight. First a blindfold match, now a flag match? In 2025? We had better get a miner's glove on a pole out of this. They should bring back the old music every time a graduate comes back to Orlando, man. I've never even seen that era of NXT and it still felt electric. One day, I will finally learn that no matter what, Andre Chase isn't going to win. Cutler James probably posts to Nextdoor about "suspicious people" every time his teammates drive thru his neighborhood. 1
