Trying to do the math on [streaming numbers based on vibes] to figure out what they really indicate is a fool's errand.

and here Dave is, volunteering for said errand. seems somewhat fitting, really.

Provolone,  Swiss and American make the best grilled cheese, with a schmear of cream cheese on the side getting the Provolone.  It'll be the creamiest grilled cheese you'll ever have

I'll take sharp cheddar, havarti, and gouda. Maybe fancy it up a bit with some almost paper thin apple slices in there or arugala. Then, and this is the super secret sauce right here...You gotta use panini bread or something with some long slices of bread - italian, french, sourdough, whatever. You butter the bread and then take a block of parmesan. Finely grate it onto the butter side and just press it in lightly. When you griddle it or grill it, you get a really awesome crust on the bread that is salty and so freaking good. Thank me later.

Dill havarti is very good.

Also, mayonnaise instead of butter on the bread works marvelously for grilled cheese. Yes, I know it sounds weird, but give it a shot sometime.

Some would argue once you put something aside from cheese in there, it ceases being a grilled cheese, and becomes a "melt*.

I tried it and don't like it. It just tastes different to me. I know the concept is that all you need is a fat, I think the fat you get from butter just tastes better from the salt in it and the nuttiness that butter has.

Kinda sucks that AEW blinked. I would have preferred they didn't flinch and kept an 8 pm start time. At the same time, I don't really mind the show probably ending around 8 pm EST. The unfortunate part about that is anything I do with my family happens during the daytime and early afternoon. Watching wrestling at night was my me time and for PPVs it was easy for me to ask my wife if she minded me watching a PPV that night. It's much harder to ask if I could just split from family time to watch wrestling.

That’s fair! I usually make my own mayo so I can shape it to what I want to put in my sandwich, and that makes a pretty good difference as compared to a shelf-stable mayo. I’d also make my own compound butter too, so really either way I’d be overcomplicating most processes.

I don't even feel like replying to the rest because there is plenty of evidence to the contrary, but Dave is notoriously awful at predicting ratings or buyrates. Like, really, really bad. What he even bases his assumptions off of at this point is beyond me. There are times where he's convinced he knows what type of rating a show will do based off of Google searches alone and responses to the WO show surveys and he's wrong there as well. He has predicted both AEW and WWE's shows in Australia would do poorly only for each to do big business. When Charlotte beat Asuka or someone else he insisted that wasn't the end of the story all because HHH said there is more to the story and guess what? There wasn't more to the story and that's where it ended. His prediction that this first ESPN show is going to somehow tank AEW's buyrate is laughable because it's going to require that entire fanbase to know to and how to switch to ESPN's streaming service and find out they'll have to pay $30 instead of the $10 or $8 they've been used to for years and for anyone with a TV subscription that would give them access to ESPN without any additional cost, it will require a lot of those people to know how to do that too and many of those people aren't going to do that in advance. They're going to do that the day of. Those are people who didn't even plan on purchasing the AEW PPV anyway. Will WWE trying and stack the card for their first ESPN "PLE?" Yes. Will there be multiple hoops to jump through to watch that that not everyone will want to jump through or won't know how to jump through and they would only do that for WWE anyway? Yes. Will it significantly bring down AEW's buyrate? It will bring it down some but not to the significant levels Dave is thinking of because of some of the reasons I listed here. Point is, I would never trust Dave on any numbers he predicts or even numbers he reports on, like what the viewership numbers are for Raw when Netflix doesn't have any obligation to report those numbers. I highly doubt Raw is now down to doing sub 1 million viewers on Netflix. Dave insists otherwise based on...who knows what.

I wasn’t suggesting Dave’s prediction system isn’t capable of error, but I also don’t fully buy the reductionist theories on his math and methods. He deservedly gets shit on for reporting and perpetuating false information from time to time, but in a carny business with carny sources that’s kinda the price of doing business. We’ll see on All Out. Ill be terribly pleased if you’re right. And good point on the ‘Universe’ trying to find the show and subscribing to the correct service.

ps I’ll take Violife Smoked Provolone. My current favourite ‘cheese’.

I don't agree with them changing the time so late in the game. It isn't fair for those attending live in particular, I feel like the NFL now changing days/times of games has made TK think its ok but its not. I understand the reason he did it but anyone flying in is screwed, not to mention those that watch from home that may have already had plans since its less than three weeks away.

That's also my thinking too. Stick with what you have, roll the dice, and if it's a significant enough of an impact then change things up going forward.

MLB has also done a lot more of the "we're moving this gametime up due to inclement weather" thing after their Covid season, so there's a thing in more than one sport towards moving game times because it's more convenient to teams and networks but it screws fans

then again you also have stuff like the NWSL (women's soccer) game here in KC where they scheduled a Saturday Afternoon game on a network and it was postponed for hours because the wet bulb temperatures were around the mark that causes a bunch of people to die if it happened in India, so fans got to wait around for 3 hours for the temperatures to cool off because they didn't delay it earlier

As a local and planned All Out attendee - I’m thrilled with the Saturday afternoon show switch. The move is certainly later than one would like, but we’re still weeks out for audience members to make necessary changes. Also lots of time for WWE to get another Ethan Page-Ricky Starks Rampage main event going for an afternoon NXTPLE that nobody will give a shit about.

One of the specials I came up with at one joint was a havarti grilled cheese with rum roasted apples and candied bacon on sourdough.  Really good stuff.

I'm pretty sure TK saw how well the early start time worked the last time WWE tried this shit on All In weekend, and decided to do the one-two punch of moving the time and announcing HBO Max will stream the PPVs now. It sucks for anyone flying in or that made arrangements to arrive at the previously announced start time. If he/AEW/WBD wanted to soften to blow, they could've made the price point for the shows a little lower, but I'm also sure they did this to not completely fuck over Amazon since they just started that partnership.

Not defending the choice or anything, the price point is still higher than ESPN (but with a Max sub and the price of a PPV, you get literally everything - well, soon, since they'll have complete archives by the end of the year supposedly). The time change sucks for some people, but how many fans are really flying in for AEW shows? I have to imagine a good percentage of the crowds for AEW PPVs are local, especially with walk-up sales being what they've been lately and contributing to the shows selling out.

Also Zero Hour is gone (for this show only?) and the pre-show will be on HBO Max and TNT. It's at 2PM EST and it's called Saturday Tailgate Brawl.

There's a lot to unpack here.

1. I agree that they should have given more notice on this.  I don't think they should have moved the time at all because I just don't think they would be affected all that much but it is what it is.

2.  I also agree that the early start time is a good thing for me and others who don't want to be watching this past midnight.

3. AEW receives a lot more PPV buys in UK/rest of Europe when they do the early start times.  This is a fact.  It's 8pm over there.  They have built up a big fan base over there as well.  That doesn't mean WE here in the U.S. should care,  I'm just saying what TK is likely thinking.

4. The $10 discount on HBO Max for PPVs isn't much but it's something and as an HBO subscriber I'll take it.  It helps AEW to have a lot of different PPV viewing options now.

Also,  AEW avoids the Florida/Miami game in primetime while WWE will be going head to head with it.  I haven't looked at the afternoon CFB schedule yet. There could be a big 3:30 game as well.

On the list of smoked cheeses, smoked provolone is probably at the bottom. Smoked gruyere, on the other hand...

I like a good cave-aged Gruyère, something 18-months or longer where there are basically crystals forming in it.

Thankfully there's no Georgia game to split my attention!

This is the first time anyone's tried PPV on HBO Max, right? I like the discounted price but I wonder if the first show will have issues on the app. Can't be worse than B/R

I thought about that.  I've now used YouTube and Amazon and they were both flawless.  I would get this for cheaper on HBO though so I don't know what I wanna do

The chaos gremlin in me wants WWE to now move their hilariously named ppv to an earlier time as well and for no one to be really sure when any of them will happen until the day of.

As a live long Wisconsinite but living in Milwaukee, I thought I didn't say it until I was moving past someone and did it and then realized I do it all the time. Dating transplants that move here is always an adventure.

AEW All Out (and presumably subsequent AEW PPVs will be airing on HBO Max).

Also, All Out will start at 3pm EST/ 8pm BST.

I'm glad AEW All Out 2025 has changed start times. This like AEW All In 2025 will start at 8pm which is much better in the UK than the usual 1am. It's going to go long like AEW All In 2025 did with both up against WWE shows.
