Ricci vs. Ribas is bittersweet in that it involves two of my sentimental favorites who desperately need a win. At least one theoretically should win save for some tomfoolery that would result in a no contest or draw. However, it just firmly established that Amanda Ribas is basically the Brazilian Molly McCann. Against other contenders, she is basically the stepping stone.

I was in the same boat. And Ribas looked absolutely geeked out walking into the cage so I was pumped.

But when you take the point of elbow directly into your eyeball, what are ya gonna do.

Muslim Salikhov quietly correcting Bisping by saying he's in fact "41 years young, Michael" is so adorable for a man who just murdered another human being just five minutes ago.

Bryce Mitchell had a pretty good debut at 135. I didn't know he was cutting weight. He had some adversity early but he gutted it out and made some good adjustments to maintain some control.

I think he's going to run into some trouble of the Top 10 when it comes to the speed and talent of some of these dudes - but this weight move may have given his career new life.

So get ready for more of that.

Every time he fights, Fluffy Hernandez rises up my list of favorite fighters. He is fucking awesome right now.

Really looking forward to UFC Middleweight Champion Dricus du Plessis (c) vs. Khamzat Chimaev tonight, tomorrow UK time. Biggest fight in a while. Fancy DDP by decision and taking Chmaev's 0. Just a hunch.

Really too bad Bryan Battle can't figure out his weight. He has really fun fights. But missing weight at welter, deciding to move up fifteen lbs to a new division so it's easier, and still coming in at 190 is a pretty bad look.

That's on his camp for weight mismanagement. The logic fighters probably have is "move up in weight = more food I can consume and less I have to cut" when it's more likely you have to maintain the same process/regimen you had before.

One of the nastiest spinning back elbow finishes ever by Carlos Prates to Geoff Neil in 4:59 of R1. Sound it made! All his UFC wins by KO.

You get a spinning elbow! And you get a spinning elbow! And you get a spinning elbow! Two in a row in the first round. Lerone Murphy to Aaron Pico.

If Pico had a chin and durability like Max Holloway and the fight IQ of a Jon Jones, we'd be talking about easily one of the greatest fighters of all time. However, God rarely gives people everything.

At least two guys on the prelims were spamming spinning back fists and shit and they both got beat, so it was funny to see two spinning finishes on the main card.

Dricus Du Plessis vs. Khamzat Chimaev. One of the most one sided title fights ever. DDP couldn't defend the takedowns and get back up from them. Totally controlled on the ground. Chimaev wins a wide decision. Still undefeated and...new UFC Middleweight Champion!

You need someone who can stuff repeated takedown attempts to beat Khamzat Chimaev.

That's simplifying it a bit.

Literally the only hope is that De Ridder and Fluffy can grapple and wrestle. Other than good fucking luck.

Venom Page might as well start getting that weight back off and go back down to welter. The future is bleak here.

Give me some slack, I've been up from Saturday at 11pm and it's now 6am Sunday morning watching UFC 319. I need sleep.

BTW I had the fight 50-42 cause I was lenient enough not to score round 10-8.

It's absolutely crazy that Khamzat at one point was a welterweight.

The old Soviet Union is now completely dominating the UFC. From Merab to Arman to Islam to Khamzat to Ankalaev. There are about 3 or 4 guys I am possibly leaving out. Only the Fighting Nerds can save us.
