UFC 317 this weekend. I think It's lacking especially as IFW is one of the biggest UFC shows of the year coinciding with the UFC HOF. UFC MSG is always a big one too.

Ilia Topuria vs. Charles Oliveira for the vacant UFC Lightweight Championship. I really wish it was Islam Makachev defending the UFC Lightweight Championship vs. Ilia Topuria instead, by far my current day dream fight. Topuira is 16-0, he KO'd long time UFC Featherweight Champion Alexander Volkanovski for the belt then defended it against Max Holloway, first man to ever stop Holloway by strikes. I've got a sneaky feeling Oliveira will miss weight, remember he lost his belt before on the scale. Topuria KO R1.

Charles made weight.

Christopher Ewert didn't missing weight by TEN POUNDS. He's also been cut from the company. Ewert was meant to fight Jackson McVey in a Middleweight bout. Ewert took the right on 4 days notice.

Ewert still has an upcoming fight on DWCS, so there's a chance he could be back in the UFC. although i'd imagine he would need to have one hell of a performance.

Man the power is in fact the last to go... is Derrick Lewis v Tom Aspinall the biggest fight at HW they can do right now?

This is one of those 1 + -1 is zero things.

Also, as much as one can love Derrick Lewis, Derrick Lewis conceivably having a third chance at UFC gold is some improbable stuff that should not be taking place in the year of our lord 2025.

Is there a bigger name that I'm missing? Cyril Gane has the same recent record with 3 wins in 4 fights and has had two title shots as well. Not a tone of name value in the division

Heavyweight is going to need some time to rebuild after the mess of the last decade.

Waldo Cortes Acosta has a quick turn around to fight Sergei Pavolvich next month. Depending on how he performs there, he might become the new hotness.

Jailton Almeda's loss to Curtis Blaydes set him back, and he was already at a disadvantage of getting a title shot because his style is boring.

Tom's reign will probably be rematches and guys on 1-2 fight win streaks for a minute.

I think what people want more than any of this is for Alex Pereira to move up, which is instantly the most interesting fight.

I certainly have my eye on Valter Walter after those leg locks (big guys shouldn't be able to do that) but like Waldo or Shamil Gaziev probably needs a signature win or two

i feel like Gane pretty much has to get the shot. the only other name i can think of is Alexander Volkov, but he's already lost to Aspinall, Gane (x2), and Lewis.
Maybe Jailton Almeida as a dark horse contender?

yeah, Heavyweight is fucked right now, and has been since the Miocic/DC trilogy put everything on hold for multiple years.

We're getting finishes on the early prelims.

Carli Judice threw a nasty little knee for a liver shot TKO.

We're 6 of 6 for finishes tonight. Everyone looking to get paid tonight.

Ateba Gautier is probably going to be a name worth remembering.

Dustin vs. Korean Zombie was a pivotal fight for me becoming a fan, always hated him for some reason and rooted against him and slowly realized he’s an awesome dude and became a huge fan by the lightweight run. This fight, by round 3, has been perfect so far. Don’t even care about the result.

One of the best UFC fights ever.

Max Holloway should have stayed at lightweight after beating Justin Gaethje in an iconic finish for the BMF Belt instead of dropping down back to Featherweight and getting stopped by strikes for the first time to Ilia Topuria. If he hadn't, he might have fought UFC Lightweight Champion Islam Makachev. Beating Gaethje and now Dustin are two of the biggest wins you can get in the Lightweight division, the best division in MMA since 2009.

❤️ Holloway

❤️ Poirier

great fight and moment to end a career on. great that Max finally got that W over Dustin. Max's post-fight interview was fantastic. good vibes all around.

And funnily enough, Holloway was both men's retirement fight.

Mohammad Yahya now holds the dubious distinction for being knocked down more than any ufc fighter in a single fight with 6(five of those in one round). And in the end it was his eye swelling up so damn grotesquely that ended the fight. Jason Herzog probably should've stopped it at the end of the first before Yahya could get his orbital bone fractured. Nasty stuff. I hope we don't see the fight that breaks that record.

Missed this fight. Sounds like the first round of Frankie Edgar vs. Gray Maynard 2 but even worse. Accurate comparison?

Just seen a picture of Yaha's face. Fucking hell, that's nasty.

Ricci vs. Ribas is bittersweet in that it involves two of my sentimental favorites who desperately need a win. At least one theoretically should win save for some tomfoolery that would result in a no contest or draw. However, it just firmly established that Amanda Ribas is basically the Brazilian Molly McCann. Against other contenders, she is basically the stepping stone.
