🎼 When people keep repeating, that you'll never fall in love... When everybody keeps retreating, but you can't seem to get enough...

Last week we got our confirmation that indeed, both Moxley and Allin want to literally kill each other...

( ☝🏿️This is what happens when you don't use YOUR WORDS to solve problems. )

🎹 When everything feels all over, everybody seems unkind... I'll give you a four-leaf clover, take all worry out of your mind...

Meanwhile, it looks like Brody King got himself a hype squad:

🧑🏿‍🎤 Let my love open the door, let my love open the door, let my love open the door to your heart!

On tap for Dynamite!

I guess the main question is if Page & MJF lock up at FD or All Out.  We'll see!

(I know Pete wrote the majority of the stuff for the Who, but, this really makes me wonder if Daltrey was the actual brains there...)

As I said over in the other company's thread, I'm out of the country next week.  So, two week thread~!

Man, get out of here with that noise. Pete's got some really good solo stuff. I love Let My Love Open the Door. All-time great song.

I've also got a spot for his album All the Best Cowboys Have Chinese Eyes (problematic title aside).

His album with Ronnie Lane (Rough Mix) is one of my favorite things he's done, Who included.

Tegan and Sara did a great cover of Let My Love Open the Door for an encore at one of their concerts I went to. I want that to be on an album.

Besides not promoting anything at all, this feels like the weakest announced lineup that I can recall. Not to say I’m not curious what Adam v Stoke might look like. I also expect Knight v Mox to be a solid fun bout. Maybe this bodes well for a late announced machine v machine bout. Dig that Cincy venue, but hope they fill out the floor by the entrance better than the last time around.

Things I Remember From This Week's Edition of AEW Dynamite:

Copeland and Christian are back together

Hangman outdueling MJF on the mic, show ending with a parking lot attack

Of course Darby wants to do bumps while in a bodybag

Hook is coming back, look surprised

Samoa Joe is back

We got lots of matches for the PPV that is within the next 2 weeks from London

Fun show that added a lot to the upcoming show in Glasgow as well as 'Forbidden Door'.  The MJF and Hangman segment was really good with Hangman clowning him into cashing in his contract.

Some good matches.  Really enjoyed Mox vs. Kevin Knight.

Women's match was very entertaining.  Willow,  Aminata, Thekla. a lot of women got to shine.   I had a good laugh at Mercedes trying to join the Triangle of Madness seance that they do in their entrance and they all looked at her like  "WTF?"

I have a feeling that the preshow of Forbidden Door is gonna be loadeddddd with whatever CMLL and Stardom wrestlers they can spare (and AEW). Maybe one more match on the main card with some New Japan guys but that show is looking pretty goddamn crazy. I believe CMLL is announcing some Forbidden Door stuff on Informa tonight, so.

That cage match HAS to be a Dog Pound NJPW style cage match, surely. There’s no way to follow 10 people enclosed in a cage in one ring. That’s insanity.

My building is getting the "get everything out of your kitchen and bathroom cabinets" kind of pest control visit tomorrow, so I wasn't able to give Dynamite the attention it deserves. That said:

--Hangman outfoxing MJF to start was fun.

--so we've got a no-rules murder cage that isn't a Blood and Guts, and the babyface team all make me fear for their lives. (Except Darby, we all know he's going to do something radically stupid in the match and be just fine, then a week later he'll trip over a curb and end up in the hospital)

--Nobody show Booker T the Chocolate Kisses, he'll react like "Pup Named" Scooby just got a Scooby snack.

--the Cope bit was good, but I agree that they're rushing the reunion.

I marked for the double superkick on Roberts

There was a reel going around instagram of a montage of Hanger calling Swerve and others "dumbass" and I never realized how much he does it but now that I do I kinda look forward to it. And it's always organic, "Seabiscuit wins, dumbass" was just a -chef's kiss- perfect line.

Yeaaaah I got a little misty at Copeland and Cage being back together too

Man that's.... a lot of awesome put together really quickly for Forbidden Door. Go Ace! Golden Lovers! Kenny and the Bucks on opposite sides of a match! Hiromu!~ Like, they can't have Nigel in that qualifier and not have him win it, right?

Another strong show.  Crowd wasn't as hot as some of the recent ones and Cincy feels more like WWE territory to me but they had their moments.  Taking Roberts out was clever because it gave an excuse to have Tony pitching the PPV lineup after taking over as MC.  I thought they maybe threw a bit too much at us at once.....but stepping back and looking at the card it's pretty fucking loaded.  That babyface team in the cage match is crazy....4 NJPW legends and DARBY ALLIN!  Was surprised by Kidd after being out of G1 but it's in the UK so makes sense.  I think they have to do timed entrances....guess they can't/don't want to set up the arena for two rings to do Blood & Guts......also if it's lights out I guess it's the main event

Called Hiromu last week.  I hadn't seen him since WK......he sadly looked a bit too much like his mentor here....not in the best shape and not moving as well as he used to.  The NJPW style/schedule of the last decade has been brutal on wrestlers.  Kyle has been on fire, hopefully Hiromu still has his fastball

Feels like they're giving Swerve an obvious out to lose to Okada with the knee injury stuff.  Nothing wrong with that, looking forward to his best Randy Savage tribute

I liked the Cope/Stokely match-->angle->reunion with Christian.  FTR and Stoke have really been clicking as heels and it's helping the Cope/Cage stuff a lot.  FTR is back to being dangerous enough to be a catalyst for something like this.  The setup for FTR to beat Hurt Syndicate and Cope/Cage to challenge in Toronto seems too obvious but at this point I'd be annoyed if it didn't happen.

They announced a 4-way 100K match with Stat v. Julia Hart v. Anna Jay v. Penelope Ford for Collision.  That's a good collection of more or less AEW originals who are kind of positioned a tier below the top women right now.  Looking forward to seeing what they can do, there's good chemistry there and they should all be motivated.  And I like that they've actually been following up (a bit) on the prize money in storyline with these matches.....it's a throwback to territory rasslin but the motivating motor of money is timeless.  I'm a staunch proponent of the pay windah in pro-wrestling.....was shocked when the Bucks were only fined 10K each for superkicking the ring announcer!!!   chump change!! In a promotion with 100K 4-ways that's nothing!!

Well I never expected Hiroshi Tanahashi/Kenny Omega/Kota Ibushi/Will Ospreay/Darby Allin vs. Death Riders/Young Bucks/Gabe Kidd in a Lights Out Steel Cage match. AEW billing it as a Lights Out Steel Cage match so has to go on last plus the prep setting the cage and weapons up as well. Has to be the Dogpound Cage Match recently introduced in NJPW, right?

I didn't see AEW TNT Champion Kyle Fletcher defending vs. Hiromu Takahashi either.

Cope and Cage's first tag team match should have been saved for All In in Canada. Doesn't need to be here.

Forbidden Door is going to be a long PPV, four hours plus I think.

So, as a purveyor of lucha and American pro graps, I'd only heard of Takahashi in passing. That 8 man compels me to seek out more stuff of his. 1. Good job, Coach Tony K. 2. Anyone have a particular match to pimp?

His best stuff IMO is pre-pandemic when he was a light heavyweight....but to be fair I haven't seen much of him in recent years.   Ospreay, Dragon Lee and Taiji Ishimori were his top opponents.....I'd start with those

Thanks bud. I'll do that. I'm on ISS duty the rest of the week, so I'll have time to watch these...

No problem bud.  Enjoy your time on the International Space Station!

Ha! I wish. No, I'm in charge of In School Suspension the rest of the week. All of us who are full time at the school but aren't teachers rotate. It's mostly a place to hide football coaches. But yeah. My earbuds are charged. Gonna take a deep dive.

The only real issue with the cage match is that Tanahashi is so completely shot in the legs I am not sure how we will work in a cage match and Ospreay told us about a month that basically his whole body was wrecked.   Oh and last time we saw Gabe Kidd he was on crutches as well and that probably a month ago as well

Im really curious how they structure the cage match. War Games style one after another? All 10 starting? Will it be a standard cage or a bigger HITC style one that let's them play on the floor?

He was Kamaitachi in CMLL when he was sent out on his excursion. He had some very high level bangers with Dragon Lee; In fact you should seek them out. They had a match at a 2018 NJPW show in San Francisco that was incredible, and Takahashi finished it despite breaking his neck during the match.

I know he is a legend but absolutely nothing Tanahashi has done in any of his AEW appearences deserves the reverence he gets, like Moxley getting shook over him

FD card is looking but as always the steps to there are pretty janky. Cope/Cage reunion feels missing a few beats. 10-man cage match is a throw-together clusterfuck.

Surprised they pulled the trigger on Hangman vs MJF as Page's first defence. MJF's year will have been a total oddball between this, the Hurt Syndicate stuff that wasted months and went nowhere, the feud with Jarrett

Hiromu Takahashi vs. El Desperado and vs. KUSHIDA.

The first Forbidden Door match vs Moxley was great and one of the last non Hangman Moxley singles matches I've enjoyed.

The rest of Tana's appearances...oof.

I wanted them to hold off on Hangman vs MJF until All Out because I'm selfish and have tickets for that show.
