I didn't notice a certain other washed participant in the main and boy is that gonna help him by this being a garbage match too.

Kota Ibushi, right?

Was finally able to scrape together enough Google Play points in order to get the price of the PPV down to 16e, so I bought it late last night. Not super excited about the card, although it sure has some big matches that should be pretty awesome. Was surprised about the winner of the technical spectacle, but I suppose it makes sense in a dream match kinda way.

Wait, this should be available at a reasonable hour over here, too! Still, I will most likely wait until the next morning to watch it.

What time in Finland, mate?

I was an hour off in my prediction. Enjoy my Finnish friend.

I honestly was just going to stream it on Discord while I was away and would have likely caught the show the next day.  But once they added the cage match on top of Hangman/MJF it went to "Fuck it, let's have people over"  Even if I have to hold off on watching until 4 due to people's schedules we'll still be plenty done by 8-8:30 and it should make for a fun spectacle.  Plus I have some good beer/whiskey I want them to try and I don't feel like waiting until Full Gear to have them over.

As for the show itself it doesn't have that Forbidden Door vibe it used to have and other company's commitments hurt when it comes to availability.  With them in London I was hoping there'd be a company there that could be used but that depends on many factors.  If it's going to be hard then I'd be fine dropping the FD concept and have a regular kick-ass PPV.

That's interesting. Maybe it's because I'm unfamiliar with Nigel's pre-AEW work, but to me, Zack Sabre Jr vs Hechicero felt much more dream-matchy, and I was hoping for Hechicero to win. But as others had pointed out, with the PPV in England, it makes sense to give Nigel the shot.

Yeah, that's the match I was hoping to get as well, but it has indeed already happened and I guess this was a dream match for ZSJ and I can totally understand that.

They got a little too artistic, in my opinion. I eventually deciphered Nigel's side after I figured out it was supposed to start with "In it", not "In ot". But I'm still not sure what Zack's side is supposed to say. Best I can come up with is "Front man", which doesn't make much sense.

He's the Front Man for TMDK, the faction he leads in New Japan.

The Stardom rep to the women's 4-way will be Bozilla.

I'm not familiar with her but apparently she's Ulf Hermann's kid, so that's neat.

The impression i get from some joshi guys i know is that she's green but very promising and probably further along than her ring time would suggest.  Interested to see her finally.

I really like what I've seen from Bozilla, she had a great match with AZM, which isn't such a rare achievement, but also a really enjoyable hoss fight with Megan Bayne at Mania weekend. Good get, even if I'll be disappointed every time a Forbidden Door passes without Natsupoi or Starlight Kid showing up.

The clips I've seen give me a little Reggie Bennett vibe, but I may be overindexing to her being a beefy white girl.

Also, I am looking at pictures of her very respectfully, more respectfully than you can imagine.  I am pounding on the table and hooting about something unrelated.

Meltzer:

Forbidden Door is well over 17,000 tickets out and just about sold out.  As of this morning the gate had topped $2.7 million, making it the fourth biggest gate and fifth biggest attendance in AEW history.  It’s also the third biggest attendance figure for a non-WWE show ever in the U.K., and third biggest gate for a non-WWE show in Europe.  I don’t think the gate can pass $2.8 million because there just aren’t enough seats left.

Eddie Kingston gave an interview saying he's gutted he's missed his favourite show, Forbidden Door two years running due to a tibial fracture, a torn ACL and a torn meniscus in May 2024.
