Double knee replacement at 56.....ouch.  Best wishes to Dustin.

This must be stated: never get both your knees replaced at the same time. It's hell.

There’s rumors that the Hurt Syndicate might be on their way out already, MVP has been influencing Bobby & Shelton to refuse jobs (I’m assuming to tag teams, since Shelton has taken a few singles loses) and that they have heat with important people backstage (and Speedball).

SRS said he’ll have an update about this tonight, but the rumor originally comes from some fan account or something. Kinda weird to have an update on it if it’s not true, no? I guess he could debunk it?

EDIT: and his report is out:

- MVP doesn’t like Speedball (what???)

- Hasn’t heard the refusing to lose stuff (or maybe he hasn’t heard that they’re about to leave?), but there was a pitch to lose the titles to FTR at All In. The claim internally is that they don’t want to drop it to FTR at Forbidden Door, either. They want to drop the titles to a younger team. BUT: one idea was for them to lose the titles to Ospreay & Swerve but Ospreay being injured changed that.

- no issues between MJF and Bobby, Shelton or MVP

The report said that he hasn't heard anything about them wanting to leave. They all have multi-year deals.  The report also said that nobody has really been pitched to beat them yet besides FTR but that creative was never set in stone on that.

I think it sounds like a lot of nothing for right now.  I don't think FTR vs. Edge and Christian should be for the tag titles but that's me.  I'd rather see a team like The Outrunners or even Brody and Bandido get a chance.

The report said MVP pitched for the Gates of Agony, Private Party or the Outrunners to beat them for the titles.

From what I read MVP just isn’t well liked backstage and a lot of people have issues with the idea of them being cool heels that squash teams and then play it up with the fans afterwards.

To be fair, Meltzer and Alvarez talked about this on WOR 2 or 3 weeks ago and there wasn’t much to it then with regards to them wanting to leave.

As usual, the truth is probably somewhere in the middle. They left under the HHH regime and now their stock has risen in AEW. Where they would go from here in the states I have no idea. They sure as hell would be a shot in the arm in NJPW, but who knows if Shelton or MVP wants to go back to Japan or if Lashley wants to there.

Out of everyone, I’d like Brodido to win the titles, drop them to FTR, and then FTR drops them to Cope and Christian.

Hurt Syndicate have most definitely tweened in AEW, but that doesn't make their 'cool' heels  eating up babyfaces act not an issue. Seeing Knight and Bailey's well earned currency/credibility destroyed by these two was painful to watch. And it's been pretty much the same with the other teams they've faced to varying results. All that said, it feels like the reported politics are being overblown by the optics. They're clearly being booked as Road Warriors which is obviously going to require some sacrifices. The audience does seem with them, but I'm not so sure it's working in a sustainable way. Further, 'Monster' pushes are not amongst Tony's booking strengths. Historically speaking, too often these pushes meander in protection with nowhere to go (Wardlow, Hobbs) or in the case of Jade, not ready enough to have good or interesting matches.

I already know this story isn't true because it mentions that they were interested in losing the title to the Outrunners.   we all know that isn't going to happen if MVP believes it should go to a younger team 😉

I don't get the idea of MVP not liking Mike Bailey unless it is some "my brand of MMA will always beat your brand of MMA" shit.   He might be dorky to some but he is a hell of a wrestler.

What team is younger than the youngest men alive, the Outrunners?!

Always forget that they are the "youngest team alive"  and yet somehow have worked the territories in early 80s 😂.    Regardless I would have no issues putting the title on them

I had no issue with the JetSpeed feud.  Yes, The Hurt Syndicate beat their ass a few times.  Then what happened? JetSpeed came out and destroyed them the next week. JetSpeed also showed a lot of toughness when they kept getting back up and asking for more.

It was great pro wrestling.  I don't see how it made anyone look "weak" please explain that...

Yeah, and now I finally understand why Stat got sick of that shit.  Her promos the last couple of weeks have been cloyingly saccharine sweet....

CIVIL WAR:  I'M WITH STAT~!

It's the wrong time society-wise to do this, but there's significant mileage out of a heel who is unbreakably good natured and saccharine sweet.

All this talk of our dearly departed Andrew Martin reminds me of what has to be one of my top absurd wrestling stories.  Test was released by WWE, no way would he be coming back, he hit his peak and never got any better in the ring or character-wise.

So he did ALL the steroids and did that Italian tour.  Vince saw a pic of roided to the gills Test and immediately hired him right back.

Did he do indies and learn his craft?  Did he grind and get better?  Nope, he just got fucking jacked as fuck and that was good enough.

See also Jinder Mahal.

I’m Team Bailey on this one.

You know I love you, mate but have to disagree here. Mike Bailey gets on my wick.

One of the worst world champions in wrestling ever. Jinder Mahal never should have won the WWE Championship, the racist promos against Shinsuke Nakamura who never recovered losing to him at SummerSlam 2017 thanks to the stupid senile old man in charge.

Thinking of the worst world champions ever: top tier are Mahal, The Great Khali, David Arquette, Vince McMahon, Vince Russo and Jeff Jarrett. Fair play to Arquette giving his pay to the families of Brian Pillman and Owen Hart if I remember rightly.

Somewhat related to this idea:

Toni Storm’s next major nemesis needs to be a modern trad wife character. Someone nostalgic for the old days that didn’t really exist.

What's Lacey Evans up to these days?

Basically quit wrestling like Elayna Black and Mandy Rose did when they found out how much money is in the Onlyfans gig.

Spoiler if you've never read Flashpoint and Flashpoint: Batman - Knight of Vengeance.

Spoiler

Timeless Toni Storm would be great as Flashpoint Joker.

Glad you enjoyed it, but it’s not exactly a stretch to say Jetspeed came out of that feud worse than when they entered. They were made to look weak at every turn - what’s to explain? The result being nobody believed they had a chance. I don’t quite remember Jetspeed ‘destroying’ the Hurt Syndicate. I assume you mean the multiple teams attacking them and cochairto-ing Lashley’s leg. All of which went unsold days later at the ppv. Yeah, that was awful. The multiple beat downs mic angle felt like an epic fail to more than a few of us. It’s a testament to the talent of Mike Bailey that he could endure all that highly questionable booking and come out the next week killing it and maintaining his rapport with the audience.

Remember, the RnR Express still owes them gas money!

It’s less about liking Bailey and more about really disliking MVP.
